Another seemingly perfect, beautiful, successful, supportive Hollywood supercouple hath bitten the dust. Robin Thicke and his actress-wife Paula Patton have separated. The couple, who met when Robin was 14 years old, have been married for 9 years, and have a four-year-old son named Julian Fuego.
While the Patton-Thicke’s publicly expressed their love on every occasion, do you think that the past year’s series of award show “happiness” on the part of Paula, and award show “raunchiness” on the part of Robin contributed to their marriage problems?

After the jump
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton, in an exclusive statement to People.
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,”
In July 2013, Robin Thicke defended Paula Patton after she was mocked for her appearance onstage at the BET Awards. She appeared disoriented and slurred her words alongside her Baggage Claim costars, Trey Songz, Terrence J, Derek Luke, and Boris Kodjoe.
Then in August, 2013, Thicke performed a saucy bump-n-grind with rubber-clad Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards. And critics questioned not only his Beetlejuice-style suit, but the appropriateness of a married man daggering a 20-year-old pop star. (Oh, and then there was this little gem that The Life Files reminded us about.)
PS: If there was a characterization of Robin and Paula that I heard from people around them time and time again, it was that they loved to “party”…and yes, that word was used with all the winks and emphasis that you can imagine. But that they were also crazy about each other. So there was a sense of, umm…open-mindedness. Therefore, it’s hard to judge if any of the past year’s public uproars had any part in what inevitably split them up. Who knows? Maybe it was something as mundane as excessive snoring, or poor toilet etiquette.
