CORRECTED: Rick Ross raps on Nicki Minaj’s “Your Love” and debuts #2 behind Eminem

I can’t believe Ross actually tweeted this photo and titled it “Jewels come out at night“…..lol, the irony. This is dead sexy though.
According to my homies who pay to get the first-day-projections and the early outlooks (and HitsDailyDouble also reported earlier)….Rick Ross will bump Eminem out of the #1 Billboard spot, which he’s held down strong after having the biggest debut of the year (741k)….but it was very close. Teflon Don’s first week sales of 189k nudged Recovery aside by just 2000 albums. Eminem’s 4th week sales were 187k.
UPDATE: While everyone from HitsDailyDouble to MTV was lead to believe from the projections that Rick Ross would debut at #1 (for his 4th album in a row)….the final numbers (176k) actually put him at #2, selling just 11,000 albums less than Eminem’s Recovery (187k). Seriously, this Marshall guy? Wow. That album has been #1 for FIVE WEEKS already! Who does that?
Question: Given the tremendous buzz that both Ross and “BMF” have right now, is this result higher or lower than your office pool predicted?

well info ross is a star in rap not a mainstream star. Em for obvious reasons are a bigger star. But if you pay attention to rap you knew ross album was coming out, but i do think this this is a good first week for him. Trust me white people for the most part have no idea who he is.

big deal if eminem is more mainstream, thats no excuse for Ross or any other “rap star”! who’s to blame if white people “have no idea who he(ROSS) is”…
can you blame the record label? NO! as hardcore as DMX was, he has/had just as much white fans as he does black fans n he used to do CRAZY 1st week numbers! not to mention Nelly, 50, weezy n even Diddy had/have the maintstream market!
besides I think Ross killed his chances crossing over to a mainstream level when he beefed with 50….n not even Diddy can fix that!

I think if you gotta ask if it’s still a success given the budget thrown behind the promotion of this project, it’s probably not. That was alot of money thrown behind this for him to roughly do the same numbers he did last time. While not a flop, if you factor in everything it gets an overall grade of “eh”.

176,000 for Ross = MAJOR FAIL.
Def Jam treated this album like it was a DMX or Jay-Z album in the late 90’s. You don’t see this much marketing and promotion for an artist/album these days anymore. When you do however, it’s normally a Jay, Em, Wayne, who then proceed to DESTROY the charts. Rossie on the otherhand ehhhhhhhhhh….. Way to go fat boy. The people don’t believe the hype. Now give those titties to Christina Milian and go bury yourself somewhere.

The album was not really promoted, he came to NY and 10 other cities, but that cannot cut it with the way things are now, you have to Promo hard, why waste time in ATL, MIA, NYC, LA; for what, they going to buy what they going to buy, but he did hit the Chi, but should of kept north in cities with heavy gun totin, hustlin and all that, Detroit, Cleveland, Lebron left, should of went there, not too late, hit the hoods, look at the list of 20 deadliest cities and make a visit,
It’s a shame but I guarantee that is where his music is getting the most play, do shows, give the album out like Prince do, that count as sales homeboy, Fat Joe will have higher numbers than people think, he did the show for the back packers, now he hit the streets, he should be good, but 100k will look like a million if he can get it
