Back in May, XL Recordings founder Richard Russell released Close but Not Quite, a five-song EP under the name Everything Is Recorded that showcased his genre-blurring and boundary-pushing production, not too unlike the kind of stuff we’ve come to expect from his label. The project featured appearances from the likes of Giggs, Warren Ellis and Obongjayar, but the real standout guest was Sampha, who lent his soothing vocals to the EP’s title track.

Courtesy of the talented people at Black Mountain Workshop, “Close But Not Quite” has been given a striking visual makeover which captures the making of Russell’s project through what looks like 3D print outs of photographs. The video also cleverly incorporates Curtis Mayfield’s performance of “The Makings of You,” which this song samples.

The Close But Not Quite EP is out now via XL Recordings.
