Remy Ma found guilty

(remy ma on left, makeda barnes joseph on the right)
A jury has been deliberating as to whether Remy Ma shot her former friend Makeda Barnes Joseph by accident or on purpose last March, and now..
TMZ reports:
“The verdict just came down in the Remy Ma trial, and the rapper has been convicted on four major charges — two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Remy was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering, among the nine total charges she faced. We’re told the victim’s friends and family taunted Remy when the verdicts were read — full pandemonium in the courtroom.
Remy could face up from five to 25 years in prison at sentencing.”
Sad…..what a waste a split second decision can make.

You know the sad thing about this is no matter what happened in this someone would have been upset. The family of remy or the family of the victim I mean your right info in a spit second a person could have changed her life. I mean think about it all went down for 3 stacks wow. I don’t want to sound cold but these rappers claim to have all that money and then shoot someone for 3 stacks. I hope that the judge doesn’t come down on her to hard. I think remy was a real great artist. See how it went from an is to a was…. Hopefully in jail she gets her stuff together and when she comes out she will be embraced lil kim was. Hopefully other rappers see this and get it through their heads your only a star until you break the law and no one is above the law. Such a shame. they say Jail does one of two things… MAKES YOU A BETTER PERSON OR MAKES YOU WORSE THEN WHEN YOU COME IN.

it never ceases to amaze me that people actually feel sorry for these people? are you serious? SHE ALMOST KILLED SOMEONE!! what if it was your family member that was almost killed? would you be saying of the assailant: oh man, what a terrible decision was made in a split second”
ridiculous.
and by the way info, it is not “bad for humanity” that a criminal gets thrown in prison for committing a crime. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE PRISONS!! to get criminals off the street. so in reality this is actually VERY GOOD FOR HUMANITY. may her tribe increase (behind bars that is)

vin…very good point. It is bad for hip hop, but I think I meant that this type of violence (and celebrity gone wrong) is bad for humanity.
I have to admit though, that I do feel bad for Remy. I’m not excusing her from her crime, but I feel bad that her character flaws got the best of her because in addition to that violent anger and bad judgement, there’s also wasted musical talent, and a person who was always very nice to me. So I can’t help but include that in my reaction.
Sympathy doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive.
But that said, of course, her victim is the person who deserves the most sympathy, and hopefully, the punishment (and I’m sure to be civil litigation) will help her feel vindicated.

I don’t know US law, what does coercion mean?
She ain’t a friend of mine, she always sounds like a bitch in interviews, I couldn’t care less about her personally, but its always sad when people lose there freedom.
I don’t feel sorry for her ‘friend’ either. If she really did take her money, I would have done the same thing rem did, no question.
Who I feel sorry for is remys son, he is the only victim in this to me, he might be growin up with his ma in jail. And no kid deserves that. Same thing happened to me.

aint that some shit now .. i agree with you VIN, on some things but tha thing about “Thats why we have prisons 2 get criminals off tha street” i have 2 dis-agree with it partially .. prisons are a bad thing in general .. more times they make a person worse off than makes them better and thats wut Lee said ..
the way society is structured and the way they are molding it 4 the future 50 – 100,000 more people will be in jail in the next 2 years in america, and those jails are already overpopulated .. so if jails are already overpopulated then what chance does a person have 2 really get rehabilitated? slim to none and the ones that are are truly lucky .. its all about a money thing with jails, they dont care about saving people ……..
and you say thats why we have prisons 2 keep criminals off the streets but what about the real criminals? what about politicians and the dirty shit that they do . what about crooked police taking drugs and selling it back on tha streets 2 pushers only 2 later on arrest them cuz they didnt get paid enough 2 look the other way .. what about the government? the biggest criminals of them all .. i aint finna get into all they shit ..
you say prisons are meant 2 keep criminals off tha streets fine .. but why are the little fishes put into the shark tank while the big fishes swim i clear waters? .. now about this remy thing, yea its a sad thing .. and the fact that it was over some ish like that makes it utterly pathetic .. whateva time she gets hopefully she has the will 2 change

I WILL SORRY FOR REMY NOT BECAUSE SHE GOING TO JAIL BUT BECAUSE SHE SPENT THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS WORRYING ABOUT THE WRONG THINGS I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND HER AT ALL. FAT JOE SAID IT BEST WHEN HE SAID SHE NEED TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT HIM AND FOCUS ON HER CASE. I MEAN THIS WOMAN GOT KIDS AND SHE WAS ON TRAIL TO POSSIBLY GO TO JAIL AND BE AWAY FROM THEM AND SHE WORRYING ABOUT JOE. THATS ODD. HE MORE THEN LIKELY SOMEONE LAUGHING AT HER. HOW SAD

Wrong is wrong right is right The only thing I feel bad about Remy is that she has a son and now she has to explain to her son that she has to be away for years cause of her actions . We all have done things in the heat of the moment but we all must use that power to say whats the worst that can happen ? Side note if you had a friend steal money from you how many times would you allow them to do it before you did or say something and what would you do ?

I also think all this shootings and nonsense in hip hop is a sort of karma cleansing. I mean I listen to the radio sometime and have to turn to talk radio cause all you hear is morbid s*it : kill murder death guns drugs over and over. For a minute I was like wow these djs and artists are just going to keep going with this and think that no repercussions will happen.Lol just think of when you here a mix tape dj on the radio on on cd and he keeps hitting that gun sound effect over and over and playing same type of song and that gets drilled into your head …shm

Mmm mmm mmm…
Another example of when keepin it real(stupid)goes wrong.
just like i always tell people man, anybody can do somethin stupid and end up spending the rest of there lives in state prison.
I could do it,you can do it,hell even little missinfo can do it(lol)
that doesn’t make you special.
I don’t know the particulars of the case but I can’t understand why her lawyer used the defense that SHE SHOT HER BUT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT(case closed)this is not a battered wife syndrome case the prosecutors was alledging that she shot another girl.
who was giving remy advice?
You never admit your guilt unless you coppin out to a lesser charge no matter what evidence they say they got against you.
this fucks up her appeal now.

I hear what people are saying.I don’t have sympathy for people who are GROWN going to jail for crimes they commit too.
I also don’t like when ‘gangsters” whine cry and complain.
Negro poleeeease…
Do your time and work on your appeals and shut.
You chose the life knowing full well what this game has offer.
IF rem did it,she made a conscience decision to bring that gun out or using it knowing full well the consequences…
I don’t think she’s retarded…
But also I would ask the people above me to keep in mind that there ARE people sittin in jail who are innocent.
Peace…

ppl gotta understand this aint the movies…when u play tough it catches up to u.
Its too many ppl (not just rappers) runnin around callin themselves “dons”, “bosses”, “gangsters”…..they’re really just a bunch of sad, misguided individuals who get caught up in the hype of what they think a G REALLY is.
How I was raised…..u crack a jaw or 2 and give some1 a serious beating for trying to steal a couple of grand. The $ she spent on the trial was at least 10 times what she accused her friend of stealing. And the time shes gonna spend in jail…..sh*t….even if she ONLY gets 5 YEARS…dats $600 per year. If she was really a G she would know that kind of chump change aint worth it.
Kids remember RAPPERS ARE PAID TO LIE TO YOU…..treat they’re music like u would an action movie. Thug/murder/drug rap is the equivalent to CG effects in movies. It makes the overall movie much better but dont fall for the bullsh*t.

and WTF this case got to do with snitchin….the girl shot wasn’t no gangster…she AINT SUPPOSED TO LIVE BY THE G CODE…..
ONE LAST TIME FOR U IDIOTS….
Snitchin is when u doing dirt and then tell on ppl to SAVE YOURSELF FROM MORE JAIL TIME.
When regualr ppl have crimes committed upon them…they should go through police and courts cause they’re not living by the same set of rules. And i’m not justifying living a G lifestyle. If u a G u live a certain way and if ur a regular citizen/civilian u live a certain way.
SHUT THE F8CK UP WITH ALL THIS SNITCHIN SH*T….THIS CASE WAS NEVER ABOUT THAT.

My prayer’s go out 2 markeda getting shot is not fun, she could have died, secondly J Remy son imean he is a kid in this all, his mother made very unwise foolish decisions, now she has 2 do her bid, and dyke it out, now she go have more time than kim 2 do all the writing she wants, lol, i have no sympathy for her because i feel she made a very stupid ass choice to take it upon her self to take someone’s life, i been shot before because of ignorance, and bullets have no eyes, very blatant disregard for human life, she deserves 2 be behind bars with the animals, like the prosecutor said,
ms.smith took every step you had to take to shoot someone, and did just that, fled the scene ran, didn’t call 911, that was scandalous and grimmy as hell, sorry i can’t support anything or anyone that thinks in such a goon way….she could have had someone do that for her, and she would have been in a better position 2 get a year and a day, lol but how u put your own ass directly on the trigger??? dumb, dumb, and more dumb…
she deserves no less than 12yrs for the injury she caused to that girl, and the fact it was intentional, she didn’t even dial 911 to say someone was shot!! motive was the so called missing cash..fact is it doesn’t look good for her, ‘ when i c her huh?? lol
you tried to gt kim to go down wit ur grimmy ass thats why she was talking super recklous, i’m so glad kim ignored her ass till the end, she let her know bitch im not scared fuck you remy man, and im that bitch, she kept it gangsta right back wit her goon looking ass, then she started going at joe, and all he did was take her from the projects buy her benzes, and beamers, and put her in jersey…..now all thats go be liquidated she probably worth after that a good 100,000.00 now she got court fee’s, and a definite civil suit on that ass, and her ex label as well…….no new deal 4 her, sure shot records?? lol

How exactly was she surprised at the verdict?
She and her defense team admitted to shooting the victim, though the lawyer claimed it was an ‘accident’, so how exactly did she and her family think she wouldn’t at LEAST be convicted of weapons possession charge???
Her incompetent lawyer also said to take the victim’s testimony at her word, and offered no witnesses on Remy’s behalf other than a retired cop who only contributed that it’s “possible” that a 45 caliber weapon can be fired accidentally.
The Victim’s word: a) Remy charged up to her car and got out with a gun. b) Cocked the gun (witnessed by an additional 3 people) before entering the car. c) Told the victim to dump her bag with bag in hand d) When Remy shot the victim, and the victim was bleeding, and told her she was shot, Remy just continued to go through the bag until she could see that her allegedly missing money wasn’t there, (Defense never established the money existed to begin with) d) Remy tells the victim to get in her car, but then just takes off an flees the scene in her escalade instead.
As the defense didn’t dispute any of that, what part of that looks like an accident?

Yo REAL REPPIN HIPHOP im a lil’ kim fan too and sure remys been dissing her but she wasnt dissing her when she was inside prison & most of the stuff she was spitting was true like weres Kim’s album after prison?.She’s only appeared on a few songs and done 1 mixtape. What Remy’s facing means much more than a stupid beef if her appeal dont work out shes losing at least 5 years of her sons life.Everyone makes mistakes and i blame Makeda she shouldn’t have stole from her and then w.e occurred after it she could have tried to work it out instead of going to the pigs she was her childhood friend.
I feel so bad for Remy and her family the u.s legal system sucks

A FRIEND DOES NOT SHOOT ANOTHER FRIEND !She could of died from that gun shot . To think that your loved one was in that sittuation I dont know if you have kids or close with your family but if they were shot by your favorite rapper would you just let it ride…?

i see your point on a friend does not shoot another friend so clearly they arent friends any more after it but because they were then she could let it go cuz she survived and she knew her and just tried to get some $$$.Makeda’s now like celebrating it on her myspace page http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=176345589
its just wrong u dont act like that when ur childhood friend just got sentenced to that long in prison its messed up and makes me question if she was a true friend in the first place.

To answer your question if my favorite rapper shot like anyone in my family and they survived and were okay like Makeda seems to be then yeah i honestly would let it ride i wouldnt be the one cooperating with the law esp in remy’s circumstances of having a kid, getting out the projects and having to look after her little sisters from a young age.It isn’t like she is going to do it or put herself in that position again.
5-25 years just for two possible accidental shots its insane.
Hope she gets a better lawyer and is successful on her appeal

Yo Homieniole, was it ever established that Makeda even stole her money? Did Remy and her team ever verify that or what else could hae happened to the money. You talkin about childhood friend; who pulls a gun out and shoots their friend just to get their money back. That’s some bullshit!! Remy could not have thought of her as a freind.
I really feel that the real victim here is Remy’s son. I hope that what he learns from this whole experience is to choose your friends and your actions wisely.
Remy was too smart and egotistical for her own good and it is clearly showing. Her choice in actions, legal counsel and how she treated the people who have supported her in life like Fat Joe, Makeda show she believes she above everyone. I’ve personally heard her speak negatively about her own mother.
I can only say I hope she wakes up, this is only the beginning.

Yo g-man i dont even know what you mean but im never going to snitch no matter what i hope im never in a situation like if i got shot or w.e but if i am then im saying nuthin. The law dont help it usually just creates more problems.
Bronxite Remy speaks negatively about her mom because she was a drug addict and messed up her childhood. She had to raise Raemonique whos now in college and the rest of her siblings. She worked so hard to get a crib, provide for her family & now cuz of some thief she might lose all that. I believe that bitch stole money from her but remys lawyer was wack. She worked the media well but one of her friends who spoke on the stand is a rapper as well so she aint that clean cut.
I hope she is successful on her appeal and can get back home to her son and family.

nicole.. what don’t you understand?
SHE SHOT SOMEONE!!
she’s going to lose all that she worked for because she was trying to stunt and back up her street cred. if someone stole three grand from me I wouldn’t shoot them, i’d go to the law. this way you get your money back, and the other person pays the price. that’s how civilizations survive nicole, what do you not understand about that?
yeah i’m sure you’re so gangsta that if you got shot you wouldn’t tell anyone.. yeah..right
black people, you ever wonder why we’re still getting stereotyped as ignorant and the like? it’s because WE KEEP DOING ISH LIKE THIS, and then we go on blogs and SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO DO IGNORANT ISH and compile the ignorance with more ignorance by making irrational comments about “snitching”
