You may have heard the name Raury quite a bit lately. The fresh-out-of-high school singer/songwriter was rumored to have kicked it with Kanye West, has been invited to open for OutKast (alongside Kid Cudi and Childish Gambino) at their concert in Atlanta next month, and just yesterday released his eagerly anticipated debut project, Indigo Child, to immediate acclaim.
Last week, Raury — rocking his trademark wide-brimmed floppy hat — made a trip to the Hot 97 offices to meet our very own Miss Info. The ATLien spoke on his now-confirmed deal with Columbia Records, explaining that they were one of the few labels to understand his ambition to “bring about a new era of music through me.” Which is why, looking forward, Raury isn’t rushing to align himself with bigger artists, instead “focusing on building upon myself as a better artist.”
