North says: On Saturday the biggest Hip Hop Festival & Concert Series beings, Guerilla Union’s 2010 Rock The Bells Festival this year includes headliners Snoop Dogg, Slick Rick, the Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One and Rakim. MTV News sat down with Raekwon who along with his fellow Wu-Tang Clan members will be peforming their classic debut 36 Chambers LP in full from start to finish. While the occasion will be historic Raekwon talks about it not being the same with the late ‘Ol Dirty Bastard not around.
“Dirty had given us the energy booster that we need to believe that we are the best,” Rae told MTV News recently in New York. “I still think about him. … I think as I’m getting a little older, I’m getting a little more sensitive in certain places when it comes to my brother being gone.
“It’s gonna be fun to get out here and represent and talk about him and see all them fans go crazy because they love Dirty,” he continued. “They love Dirty so much, I know for a fact that when them records come on, they’re gonna go crazy.”
“That’s a beautiful thing,” Rae said about crowd participation. “When I think about my brother not being here, it still keeps me wanting to keep that Wu-Tang flag as high as it can be. He was the one that really gave us all the spirit.”
Guerilla Union’s Rock The Bells Festival begins Saturday in Los Angeles with stops in San Francisco, New York City & DC for dates and locations click here.
After the jump Raekwon speaks about his collaboration with Kanye West & Justin Bieber? coming soon…..
Earlier this week on Twitter Kanye West suggested at a collaboration with Raekwon and the one person he follows Justin Bieber. What most thought was a joke and not going to happen appears to be actually going down. Raekwon spoke with XXL Magazine on the possible collabo.
“It’s definitely gonna happen,” he said over the phone. “When you got these kinda talents merging together to do something exciting, I think it’s something that’s gonna make the fans check it out. I’m big fans of both of these guys. I think, at the end of the day, shorty is a sensation. And [for him] to acknowledge me it makes me feel good that the young generation is checkin’ me out like that. And at the same time it gives me a position to play a big brother in the game. He wants my assistance or whatever he can get it. I respect him, I like his style.”
“Yeezy called me and we gon’ make it pop,” he continued.. “At the end of the day we’re all doing our thing in the game and for them to even just have a conversation and just put my name in it it feels good…And we gon’ make a hit. Justin got his own fan base and Me and Yeezy got our own fan base and we gon’ make it happen. We gon’ make a good record.”
Props to XXL

all you cats hating on raekwon for being asked to do a song with that little kid are straight up crabs in a barrel…”asyndrome where a group of like situated people hurt those in their community attempting to get ahead”…its an amazing opportunity for rae to get his rhymes/voice heard by about 5 million people who otherwise would never would hear him…it boggles my mind people would hate on that…you guys got your eyes glued right up next to the TV and as a result you can only see one pixel…take a few steps back…go lounge on teh couch and watch and catch the big picture…great opportunity for rae …any fans of his should just be impressed kanye and this kid who looks like a lil lesbo are even yappin about him on twitter.

i co-sign too , i’m pretty sure j.b. bumps o.b.f.c.l. , how ill is that ? i like when the younger cats remember the ppl who did what they r doing now before they did , like nas when he shouted out rakim in 94… ppl forget that “old school” is always cool , i know when i was in high school from 95-99 , i use to always bump rakim , krs-one , kool g rap , Big daddy kane … dudes use to be like ” whats that new shit , and i’d tell them it was from 88 and ppl would bug out…so to hear these dudes lsitening to stuff from 93-99 , it just makes me happy man. stop the hate , and just be happy…. as a fan i wont lie though , if it’s a wack song , then it’s a wack song , but if kanye makes a hot beat , rae drops an ill verse , and b has a hot hook… i am gonna give a lot of props , as every one else will after cuz ppl love to ride that meat

This shit doesn’t effect me whatsoever. If you don’t want to hear the song don’t listen to it, but it’s not the end of the world.
When Wu-tang become the backing band for Ellen, THEN the world is over

“Yeezy called me and we gon’ make it pop,”
Yes The keyword here is Pop. Anything you do with Justin Beiber (and Kanye, now) will be that.
