And Asher Roth offended folks with this tweet last week. (Me, I was more offended by the fact that Roth followed up with an apology tweet, then him or his team deleted both and then tried to perpetrate the idea that his account was hacked into. And then refused to address any of the ensuing outrage. Eskay posted a most eloquent op-ed on the subject)

oh dear roth. It was going so good, why.
This is why I don’t think it will make a difference to his sales/popularity.
1. Roth isn’t a old man unconnected to hip hop culture. He’s young and he’s a credible rapper
2. It wasn’t said in an interview so unlike what was done with the previous person to say that (i’m gonna speak his name) Roth didn’t say it on audio or video. So if the mass media do pick up on i’m they can’t play it over and over
And 3. Anyone remember the discovery of eminem’s song (once again not gonna repeat the name) and look what that’s done to his popularity within the hip hop community and with black people in general.
Now I think about it, its sad that we have a double standard. It should be one rule for all. Apart from the nigga double standard. I support that, but all others need to go.

That’s corny. I didn’t understand why everyone cared the first time and I double don’t understand now. Well, I do understand, but people are being disingenuous at best. All these double standards are making me itch. This eskay guy is like “it’s a double standard but it is what it is.” What does that mean? It’s a non-statement. Humor affirmative action, what’s next? The only point I can see as valid is that you’d think that Asher Roth could have predicted this backlash, but then again he was probably wasted.

Personally, I think people are blowing this out of proportion with Asher….even with what he said about, and I quote, “African-American rappers”. He definitely said something real, that WASN’T sugar coated, and to be honest, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. I think it is funny that the topic of “double standard” keeps surfacing. I always find it reprehensible when Fox news says it about the N* word as well. Just because you and your friends/family prefer to stay ignorant and referrer to the black females they know, or themselves as having “nappy hair” amongst one another… does not mean that all black females engage in this. There are plenty of Intelligent black women like myself who will not subscribe to the notions of good or bad hair. Plenty of us who do not use the word “nappy” in their vocabulary when speaking of texture of black hair. Some of us understand the origins of the word and we do not buy the bullshit that was opposed upon us regarding our hair (that our texture is bad & nappy). As for Asher, he only needed to live on the planet earth to know that this offends people (and the controversy that surrounded it) or else he would not have known how to use “nappy headed hoe’s” in the context that he did. So please double standard my a%*.
As for Ross it was equally uncalled for. Personally, I think its the cowardly way of going at em. If he’s so confident then he needs to go at Em lyrically.
