I heard this on the radio today. What a horrible, horrible commercial. What kind of message are you trying to send our youth, putting on a commercial made by a person who can’t even speak English? Certainly Mountain Dew cares not about the education of our youth, nor does it care about presenting any semblance of intelligence.
The former Mountain Dew commercials that have been on the radio and TV were silly and nonsensical, but not offensive. This commercial is offensive to anyone with a brain and values the education of the American people, of which there is plenty too little. I bought a 12-pack of Mountain Dew this past week. It’s the last one that will ever be in my household.
Shame on you, Mountain Dew.

look here PERSON. What is Mt. Dew? It is a DRINK. so why in the HELL would they care about youth’s education. They’re just trying to sell a delious citrus drink. Back off man. Forget you. Lil’ Wayne is better than YOU’LL ever be. All you do is live in your mom’s basement, hatin’ on your superiors, and being an idiot. shut up kid. go back to messing with your mother

What an elitist, judgmental statement. Just because he doesn’t speak English the way YOU speak it doesn’t mean he is not intelligent or successful. Clearly he is intelligent and it shows in his ability to rise to the top of the hip-hop music world, not only as a performer but as the CEO of a wildly successful record company.
Lil Wayne made a great commercial with a positive message directed toward a group that idolizes him. I couldn’t ask for more.

HEY. fuck OFF if you think mr. carter is uneducated and “can’t speak english” i would LOVE to see you hold a conversation with that man, and have your head not be spinning. he is absolutely very intelligent, and probably has a higher IQ than you and your mother combined. so shut the fuck up(:
he’s a genius, and if you don’t like him then oh well don’t listen. he doesn’t write down a single word of any of the raps he composes, and memorizes everything in his absolutely incredible mind.
SO PLEASE keep judging, and make him more famous than he already is.
you are NOT God, therefore your opinion affects his life in no way.
HAVE A GREAT DAY

What i don’t get is where in that commercial did it talk about the education of our youth, all it was saying was be true to yourself which is advice we could all use.

He is a lyrical genius. Sit down and read his lyrics. Break them down. Only then will you understand. I would love it if someone brought back 90s rap, but its not going to happen. Rap has changed and evolved so much, it wouldn’t sell. If Shug Knight didn’t have Biggie killed and if Pac didn’t get shot then we would have an entirely different view on what will sell. What kind of message does this send to our youth? Really guy? Have you ever even listened to rap? If your going to boycott Mountain Dew because of this commercial then turn your radio off. You must not like anything on the radio, unless its gospel.

I believe that this commercial is absolutely brilliant. Lil Wayne is a VERY intelligent man, writer, and performer. His message in this radio add is amazing. He teaches our low self-esteemed children to “dew you”. This is a good message because for those that look up to him (like myself) we hear him talking about being yourself, and not just following the crowd and with that it makes us think that maybe we should stop trying to fit-in with the “in crowd” and we should be happy with ourselves. Not every child is going to listen but some will, just because their idol Lil Wayne has said it. He might not change a MILLION kids’ lives with this add, but he has changed mine. And to everyone that is saying these negative things, you didn’t listen to the add carefully. Lil Wayne says to “dew you” which means that he’s not going to care whether your broke little pockets like him or not. He’s still “dewing” himself and that’s why he’s richer than you. = ) .

People get on my nerves saying Lil Wayne cant rap and hes garbage and talking about the way he dresses. Hes a millionaire if he wants to walk out his house in a lime green speed o, snow boots, and a jeezy snowman t-shirt he can because at the end of the day he is PAID. hummmm and how did he get paid you ask? HIS FUCKING MUSIC. if half of you actually sat down and listen to what the fuck he is saying rather then judging him off his apperance and the few lines you happen to catch you would understand.. and if the 90 rappers were still here and rapping wtf do you think they would be rapping about?? bitches, money, and weed. simple as that! dont like it dont listen my “husband” still getting paid regardless so that bullshit is for the birds! Weezy F Baby and the F is for Fuck Off.
-Yes i know im not married to him.

The reality of the situation at hand isn’t the brilliance of Lil Wayne (not a fan) but it is the brilliance of the advertising agency that has the MountIn Dew account. They were able to pay him his millions to put him in their add and say what they wanted him to say so that all of you would listen to him and say, Wow, Lil Wayne likes Mt Dew just like me! You all got snowed! Enjoy your Mt. Dew. BTW, it contains Brominated Vegetable oil in it which is the fire retardant they use in Fire Extinguishers. You are all right! Brilliant advertising!
