I doubt that any store will carry it unless it was covered up. For instance, the wrapping just said NaS with a black background, then underneath is were the actual cover is.
Aside from the straight up shock value, it’s a great cover. The juxtaposition of the word and the photo is clearly meant to fuck w/ people’s heads. Interesting.
def a fake…they used the style that nas always writes his name in and nigger is written some stock font that you see all over the place. let’s hope he does something a little better with this album, like pick a different name for it.
This album will never come out. Use your BRAINS; Nas is not big enough for Def Jam to go through a firestorm of controversy. Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, would not carry it on their shelves; think people; this is buffonery. Nas needs to grow up.
Nas, keep that cover and that name. That title well get you more publicity than sayin “hip hop is dead”. Your not breaking the law by doing it, so do it.
well don’t get mad or upset when you go to buy that cd and the white kid nesxt to you says to the store clerk, “hey give me that n—er cd”. this gives them a chance to say the n-word more freely know. if nas wants to teach about the n- word there are other ways of doing so. i promise you, this will turn ugly especially when a racist gets to thowing the word around freely. so just suck it up and smile…..oh and the thank nas
THE NAME IS STUPID IN MY OPINION.I FEEL LIKE IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU CALL AN ALBUM AS LONG AS THE MATERIAL INSIDE IS ON POINT.
HIP -HOP IS DEAD GOT MAD ATTENTION BUT THE TRACKS WERE LAME.EXCEPT FOR LIKE 3.THE MUSIC SHOULD BE THE MAIN FOCUS AND NAS IS DOING HIS BEST TO FUCK THAT UP.
it may be a fake but he should definitely KEEP THE NAME! he’s not a Multi Platinum Pop star. He’s an Artist and Artists make Statements. I think he could easily go the Radiohead route and distribute his joint online and make a killing. If Def Jam aint down he could definitely go underground.
I doubt this is a real cover. If it is I am really disappointed. I still can’t believe people use this word as a replacement for “friend”. Any use of this word to me is unacceptable. It comes from hate and ignorance. In my opinion anyone who uses it is bringing down the black race. So much for black power. You don’t see white people going around what up honky to each other. The word nigger is so much more powerful than any word I can think of. It is upsetting to me every time I hear someone use it. I don’t care that you put an A at the end instead of an ER. It all the same to me.
this is nas way of slappin everybody in the face who ever used the word in a wrong sense. whats also dope about it is that nas is in a suit readin a paper. and even if he didnt name his album that, racist people will continue to use it in a wrong way.
Dam let the nigga be, we walk around all day everyday sayin nigga dis and nigga dat and don’t nobody have nothing to say but wen he put it on his album cover everybody sayin somethin ,we been usein it for years and now everybody actin like they haven’t heard the word since a white man said it I’m not sayin its rite but its a lil 2 late 2 speak on it now
this is nas way of spittin in the face of everybody thats ever used the word in a negative way. whats also dope is that hes in a suit readin a paper, something racist ass people dont want to see.
@c.s.
its not that he tryin to be malcolm but we need high profile types (especially real MCs) to be talkin bout real issues and not the bullshit most down south rappers and some ny rappers (yea i said it) be talkin about.
@moneymike20000
nas is big enuff for def jam to support him. wat is u talkin bout??
u all right….this nigga’s just tryin2 show how controversial he could be& stop being such a cornball son,we all know u still cant show your face in qb!!!
Looking past the cover where all the attention is right now, I wonder about the content, is he going to follow the teaching of Islam and drop some old school Paris, early day Grand Puba, Brand Nubian, Black Muslim studies. What is his focus on this album, I really interested in knowing, is he creating hype, then dropping a party songs. I know the old Nas is hard to come out at a time in his life when his maturing and some of the problems he faced then are not present now, but the artist that came up with those classic hits, is still in him. So drop something timeless and don’t flop like Cam’ron…
I think this album title will ultimately end up bringing a lot of social issues to light….but not before it ends Nas’ career and puts the word “nigger” in a lot more peoples’ mouths.
Im honestly in full support of this album NAS is a lyrical genius..instead of these pumpfakin MC’s that sell million based off the latest dance craze!! so i think it about time NAS drops something drastic and powerful like this album with this cover being that HIP-HOP is getting such a bad name! he is the SAVIOR of this rap games..
i think cocoa made a good point.
i just imagined the scene with the kid *shiver*.
the whole thing makes me think of spike lee’s BAMBOOZLED, look how delacroix’ idea of the new millenium minstrel show turned out, ha!
sometimes fiction becomes reality, i guess.

we can debate for years on the merit of using that word as the title, I am more concerned with him dropping an album that content & quality wise will stand up to the hype that it will garner! This album musically needs to be on the 1, much like Illmatic; if not he might as well named it Hip is Still DEAD pt. 2..
im not really feeling the hole ni//er thing.i think most stores wont even carry this cd. i miss the old nas album covers with a big pic of his face in front with like old ghetto bulidings in the back ground.but i guess after years things change but in this case for the bad, smh.the out come of this is>> stores not carrying his cd, world wide news coverage of crazy old church goers breaking his cd in half on the news while al sharpton stands their and smiles,news papers talking bad about him and more drama.i hope nas doesnt waste his talent doing things like this. its only gonna shed a more of a bad lite on hip hop and people who dress and listen to hip hop.u no why they wont let people in clubs that dress hip hop any more is because things like this, i ant saying kiss up but damn ..
What’s the big deal all this hype from young and old people a like Just look at all the books by the same name and not one word has been mentioned about them: That Nigger’s Crazy by Richard Pryor, Nigger: An Autobiography by Dick Gregory and this one: Run Nigger Run by The Virginia Mountain Boys. Sharpton and Jackson are making noise and don’t know what the album is about but yet and still don’t make mention that Dick Gregory had a book out by the same name.
Yea,Yea keep it real,ya know my*$#@! NAS is the best 8nt neva back down 2 kno 1!!And anything he make is already!! So don’t question my baby,just kno he always put in work
stop worrying ’bout how he look and listen 2 the music!! maybe some of u will learn how 2 spell b4 u comment…what really offends u ’bout the $#@!* word? we use it with each other everyday, and accept it. sure u have 2!! so instead of criticizing our people y not listen 2 what they have 2 say. Nas is not about 2 stir u wrong, much less make a fool of himself
I’m feeling the cover. No matter what you do or how you look you are still a niggah, but if the album dosent focus on that issue entirely, then it is counter productive.
I’d rather have a rapper who takes an actual stance on a belief rather than a rapper who caters to the ringtone market in exchange for credible shit to say
