‘Phil Spector’ Trailer: Al Pacino Plays the Infamous Music Producer in HBO Biopic
Posted by Andy B. under videos[2] Comments
We couldn’t think of anyone more suited for this role. The legend that is Al Pacino plays the hugely respected but subsequently infamous music producer Phil Spector (who worked with some of the 60s’ biggest acts, including The Teddy Bears, The Ronettes and The Beatles) in HBO’s upcoming biopic, Phil Spector. The movie focuses on Spector’s 2003 murder trial, for which he was sentenced to 19 years to life for murdering actress Lana Clarkson. Helen Mirren co-stars as his defense lawyer Linda Kenney-Baden. Phil Spector premieres Mar. 24.

Personally I think Dustin Hoffman would’ve nailed this role. I respect Pacino’s legend but he’s on the decline and his new niche as the go-to man for biopics (Kevorkian, Paterno, Spector) almost makes the films seem like parodies.
