From Virginia Beach band geek to global pop culture icon, it’s been a hell of a ride for Pharrell Williams. Having enjoyed arguably the best two years of his career recently, the rapper/singer/producer/fashion designer (you know the rest) returned home over the weekend, where he was honored with the Key to the City of Virginia Beach, as well as a state proclamation to make June 7 Pharrell Williams Day in the state of Virginia.

Taking the podium at his alma mater, Princess Anne High School, Skateboard P paid tribute to his old teachers, particularly his music teacher Alan Sharps, for supporting and believing in him. He also announced From One Hand To AnOTHER’s partnership with Everfi, which will provide digital learning opportunities for students taking part in FOHTA’s Summer Innovation Camp.
