like tomorrow night soon?!?….yes, last night I bumped into the old pals Rob and Loic from Startraks, and we were discussing the I Get Money remix, lol, and then we started talking about the new Jay-Z album….and lo and behold, it looks like the big homie Funkmaster Flex will be dropping bombs on a new Jay-Z and Pharell song called “Blue Magic” tomorrow night. Nice!
And then the homie Elliot Wilson (Ego Trip Family) just hit me with the following XXLmag.com scoop about said song and upcoming “American Gangster” album….
Double nice! I cant wait to see/hear what’s in store.

I guess we should be excited about this but after that lack luster Kingdom Come album I really can’t get to hyped. It has to be said if he release another album like that he may be damaging the Boss Hova image.

This nigga Jay has been on of the most impressive ego-trips of all time the last few years, and I guess he ain’t slowin down. Seriously, why can’t Jay let Ye Tudda have his this one? Does everything have to be about Hov? Anyway, I’m not as excited about this as I normally would be about a Jay release. After Kingdom Crap and his recent string of so so features (Rhianna, T.I., Get Money remix,) I’m not entirely positive Jay still got it in him. Even his swagger ain’t really Jay-like lately, what with the shades indoors and the Ace namedroppin, it kinda seems like hes trying to convince us he’s still the coolest kid in school. Plus, with his proposed release date so close to Lil Weeziana, this could be embarrassing number-wise.

This is great news. It’s scary, almost every one of MC’s/rappers I currently support are at least 30. Hip hop in 2007 isn’t a young man’s game. Labels need to start cultivating some young talent(not one hit wonders) or something.
I was disappointed with “Show me what you got,” everytime I heard that sax I thought about Wrecks n Effects’ “Rump Shaker.” Lol But was feeling the Kingdom Come cd overall, I put my 52 year old dad on it and he was feeling it too(the first Jigga cd bumped in his whip.) I think he called it “adult” rap. Lol

Jay ain’t putting nobody to sleep. Kingdom Come wasn’t THAT bad compared to everything else that was out at the time. If I remember correctly, Release therapy and doc’s Advocate floated about the same time. Personally, I liked Game’s and Luda’s LPs over Kingdom Come. Kingdom Come compared to other Jay albums, though…I can’t even put Kingdom Come with the rest of Jay discs. I have a “Jay” section, then I have a “J” section. Kingdom Come went with the generic “J” section. Jay has been spitting a verse here and there. He got on some hot Beyonce tracks. I hate the Umbrella song, and Rihanna, but he was aight on that. He totally killed it on that Amy Winehouse joint, might be one of the more underrated verses right there. Jay saw the hype surrounding Ye and 50. When Ye and 50, hip hop heavyweights, can drop the same week and sell the way they did, Jay’s mouth had to water. Everyone knows how CD sales have been declining and such. Jay jumped on the hottest track out right now for a remix, via 50 cent, gets the water temperature right. Ye shot his load already for Graduation, he might drop “Good Life” as a single, but there aint no more certified bangers. 50 has released a lot of material from Curtis if you think about it. Straight to the Bank, Amusement Park, I get Money, and Ayo Technology. The Robin Thicke joint has been leaked….and he STILL has some bangers left to drop. That Akon song is a smash, even if they have to edit it some for radio. The Forbes Remix is hot, they made a video for that. Curtis may have lost week 1, but it clearly has more staying power. Back to Jay, maybe he knows Graduation is finished? Why else would he drop in November, when they can at least try to push Kanye through the end of the year. Why doesn’t jay wait until the Spring when “Before I self destruct” drops? Regardless, I’m glad the real artists are coming up. These ringtone wonders are messing up the game.

@robb23…actually I dont think its funny , I think scary, because this feels like a beef thats a bit too real. It goes way back, and there are alot of guys involved here who are straight street. I worry that someone could really end up getting hurt here. I hope, not too optimistically, that they can resolve this peacefully.

Kingdome Come was about the growth of Jay-z he can’t talk about being a street hustler anymore when we has meeting with bill gates and the United Nations. @missinfo–maybe he ain’t staying and has to fulfill some contract stuff and that is why there is a rush to put it out by the end of the year. There is always a reason with him, even though it may be self-involved.
I love Graduation though, I think that it will be tough to top. Kanye did a great job on production, etc.
I’m not sure if I am excited about him coming back, it all depends on the quality of music.

Miss Info, could you please tell the 50 haters that Curtis is 2 million worldwide. I want to know if people are purposely not stating the TRUE numbers; this feels like when Roy Jones got cheated out of his olympic medal; if kanye got him, thats fine, but I know this site above all will give straight FACTS. Also, Jay coming back is a good look for hip hop. But I agree that he should let kanye savor his successful album, and drop 1st quarter 08.

You know, I’m thinkin Def Jam must run itself. Like a well oiled machine that, um, runs… by itself. Listen the point is, how does Hovi Hov have time to record and promote Kingdom Come, do whatever he still does with Rocawear, throw some d on Bey (which, BTW, is where the majority of my time would be spent if I was Hov old ass… Blue pill’d up like the matrix), watch, get ‘inspired by’ and record “American Gangsta” and run Def Jam? I am telling you, either Jay is actually two people (think diabolical twins conspiring to make aging look awkward) or the rest of Def Jam’s staff does a phenomenal job. Big ups to those people. Moving on. I’m not mad at President Carter (yet) for deciding to put out a record right now, I like Jay (no Larry Johnson….allegedly). I just want him to make sure the product he puts out is right and he isn’t distracted by his 8 other jobs. Because the other, younger President Carter is coming, his approval rating is high, and like it or not your music and sales will be compared.

Yung50, seems like nobody wants to talk about those 2 milion albums sold worldwide by 50. Thats the elephant in the chat rooms, yet people are so invested in Kanye’s “victory” over the “bully” that no ones coming out and telling the public that Kanye took an L. Check wikipedia, or Vivendi for confirmation. Remember, Vivendi is 50 and Kanye’s home(universal), so no bias there. Love the daily updates Miss Info; even on the weekends.

@ Lee and 16. I can’t speak for everyone, haha, that’s fo’ sho’. i’m not questioning Jay’s growth. Artists should grow and evolve over time. I didn’t say Kingdom Come was garbage, liked I’ve heard others do. You can only compare Jay to Jay, in fairness. Jay has his big money records, his superman/ceo credential songs. In many ways, Jay paved the way for this *money talk* that has saturated hip hop, but that’s another issue all together. Jay can deftly weave between CEO and street hustler with no questions asked. More importantly, it’s that hustla mentality that made a lot of us eat up his records in the first place. 50 has that money talk as well, but he hasn’t disregarded the street talk, if you will. Jay can rap across the whole spectrum, why pigeonhole yourself with all the grandioso lingo? Jay’s verbal dexterity and versatility is what sets him apart. Cash Money can rap about cars and houses and such, even though I don’t believe them, lol.

Sorry but dropping a hot verse on someone else’s beat doesn’t constitute a song. Write a rhyme without using “like.” Giving Cam, Jim Jones or Hell Rell the blues on a song doesn’t make him “the best rapper alive” Serve Jigga, Nas, Eminem, Luda, TI, Jada, Common, Andre 3000, Lupe, Black Thought, Fab, etc. and then come talk to me.

I think that Jay-Z is coming out with an album so soon not just so it comes the same time as the movie,but so it distracts us from Kanye’s fake album sales which Def Jam bought.I heard him on Angie’s show and when she asked him about it,he gave a clever answer but he never said NO!That told me everything I need to know.But on the other had some Jay music would be good right about now as long as its real people buying it.Fooled once shame on me,fooled twice shame on you!
