NYPD Uses Excessive Force To Shut Down Smif-N-Wessun and Pete Rock Party

I heard whispers about this but had no idea of the magnitude of the f*ckery put on by the NYPD last night in the LES section of Manhattan. Hip-hop vets Smif-N-Wessun and Pete Rock were celebrating the release of their new project, Monumental Experience when the scene turned ugly. Things were reportedly going great until a fight broke out just outside the club, causing the NYPD to converge on the scene like there was a terrorist attack going down. Instead of just attending to the conflict at hand, the boys in blue decided to shut down the whole party inside for no reason. The lights were abruptly cut and attendees were forced to immediately exit the building. Disappointed rap fans then were met with unruly cops as they simply were trying to make sense of why their peaceful party was cut short. Here is one fans’ footage of the melee. After rumors of Pete Rock’s wife being beaten by the police, the legendary producer cleared things up on his Twitter. It looks like she fell over some trash cans while trying to stop a friend from being attacked by the popo. However, Boot Camp affiliate Louieville Sluggah was reportedly sent to the hospital after being attacked by a number of officers.

I believe this footage took place in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
None the less this is horrible and Im very frightened about the NYPD now carrying billy clubs again.
I thought we banned that in the ’90’s

yo this is why nypd gets into alot of trouble and they wonder why all minorities hate and cant stand them and give them ugly looks when they be out in the streets i mean yesss you have a bunch of jus ignorant nuckleheads out here and u have to be on ya p’s and q’s but not EVERY single person of dark skin is a nuckle head and instead of investigating and figuring out the real problem they jus go in and high tail into a situaiton that they have no knowledge about and this what the outcome becomes …. same shit happen wit sean bell and Amadou Diallo … they are ready to jus beat or shoot somebody and especially if u a young black male … pac always preach about this shit and 20 yrs later it still the same shit …. its some sad shit and shit needs to be done about it i hope they sue the shit out of nypd …

their was one lil fist fight and they came like if it was a freaking war and pushed ppl out the way like if they wer leaves and beat them like if they wer wild animals, it comes to a point wer ppl are gonna have to fight back when these things happen on the spot,wat the cops did was illegal they dont have the power that everyone thinks they have any more they should of jumped in to save their innocent friends from these steriod rageing,racist, yuppie pig face pussys im a calm dude but all i gotta to say is if it was my friend that was in a choke hold or getting beaten he would of made it home safe that nite…

One thing people need to keep in mind is that this isn’t just a race thing. I’m black but this crowd wasn’t only black folk. The cops label EVERYONE under the Hip Hop banner as being high risk. White boys were being disrespected, you saw it was a girl from the UK that film this so It goes beyond skin tone.
It’s bothering me that more isn’t being made of this mediawise. We have folk on the other side of the globe dying in opposition of unjust treatment. Over here we talk a grand game but what are we going to do about it?

I find it very amusing that people are astonished by this. This is NYC. These very common videos on other sites of near riots in the street with women getting punched by men, near death beatings and destruction of property are not going to happen here. Something like the recent events in Vancouver would never happen here. For every “innocent person” in the streets here there are probably ten assh@les. When the party’s over it’s over. You can’t put your hands on cops. Period. It’s not going to work out for you. There a hundred other places you can go to, at all hrs of the night, in this city. If you stay at a situation that has cops with their nightsticks out; you might just get smashed with one of them. Go home.

also women get punched my men, people get beat near to death and property gets destroyed in NYC just like any other city. Often its the cops doing these things so your argument is especially nonsensical.

While I agree that there are other places to go in NYC and that you should always get out when the cops are around, they made the poor decision of stopping the party when the exact reason they were around was a fight that was OUTSIDE of the club the party was hosted at.
That caused people, who already were mad the party was over, to get mad at the cops. That is why it’s there fault basically.
This situation however is filled with tons of grey areas that are never going to be addressed due to the way this kind of thing is reported.

point is if a fite breaks out in front of any other club anywhere in the city the copsll come and scoop em up and keep it moving
theyre the ones who blew it out of proportion and made the scene

Hip hop police was on deck billy clubbing n all. This was premeditated. the irony of this is that people have become desensitized to the police brutality. Its sickening if you ask me. That venu was horrible by the way it didn’t help any.

It should surprise you everytime something violent like this happens. If you think this is normal you’re the reason they get away with shit like this. Stop being brainwashed into thinking you’re rights are limited. Police are civil servants. That means they answer to you. Wise up and they can be beaten. Peace though

Moral of the story is KEEP YOUR FRIENDS IN CHECK. If there’s no fight in the 1st place, the police never get invited.

Man the cops are really good at escalating situations aren’t they. They are really good at turning things violent. Not so good at the serve & protect part though. SMH.
