NMC Exclusive: Maino “Retaliate” (off his upcoming Day After Tomorrow album)

The homie Maino has alot of things on tap…along with his upcoming album, Day After Tomorrow, he shot a movie that I’m looking forward to seeing (especially because his “Up Close and Personal” series was some of the most compelling rapper testimonial, last year). But last night, Maino sent me this new street single to follow up his “Bring It Back, DJ” song…

beat is hot. his energy is on point. but come on dog. a whole song about killing somebody? after talking like that somebody gotta die right.lol. only thing is you just gave the prosecutor a slam dunk case. sounds like a lose lose situation. niggas gotta get they mind right man. all that murder murder kill kill shit is a weak emotion. it sounds tuff but actually makes you weak.

I agree. I can’t knock his flow, he’s definitely spitting, but I’m not supporting anything that speaks about murdering someone. The days of me enjoying that type of rap are behind me. Unless this is about his father that beat his ass, or some guy that molested him or something, this is unnecessary and IMO, not something that hip hop needs. I wanted to like this, but I’m disappointed. The problem w/young kids in the hood no is that they don’t respect human life. This is just fueling the fire.
