With the new season of “American Idol” just weeks away, Nicki Minaj stars in the latest promo clip for the reality talent competition. In the video, Minaj speaks on love for finding brand new talent and breaks down her early history trying whichever way to get discovered. The Young Money femcee explains those trials and tribulations in the early portion of her career will help on the “Idol” panel alongside Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, as contestants who don’t make it will use her past experience as inspiration.

“I’ve been told no a billion times and I think it’s very important you have someone that knows what it’s like to be disappointed and have to try again, and that’s a big part of the audition process. It’s being told no and continuing to believe in yourself, that’s what I try to offer to the contestants. I mean even when we say no, it’s not the end of the world. You can take it as constructive criticism and apply it to your craft and come back.”
