Nicki Minaj Addresses Her BET Awards Acceptance Speech, Iggy Azalea Responds

Nicki Minaj closed out the 2014 BET Awards with a bang. Although Jay Z and Beyonce’s performance was supposed to be the grand finale, there’s no doubt that Nicki’s acceptance speech for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist took the cake. After firing shots at all “rappers” who don’t write their own rhymes, the girl from Queens beasted her speech like a true New Yorker. However, the Internet turned her speech into a “Iggy Azalea diss,” and Nicki wasn’t too happy about it.
UPDATE: Iggy Azalea took to Instagram with a note giving her thoughts on Nicki’s speech at the BET Awards. Read after the jump.

Iggy Azalea’s Statement:
“This is my mind state about everything & the only time I’m ever going to refer to this again so go nuts guys, Enjoy it. Ps. If you squint exxxtra hard you can see tiny elves having illuminati meetings between the lines in my notes app too.
I have to say the general explosion of pettiness online in the last few days is hard to ignore & honestly…lame
If I had won the BET award that would’ve been great but it wasn’t my year & I don’t mind – so you shouldn’t either. Generally speaking I’m unbothered by anything that ‘happened’ at the BET awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time.
Anyone who wishes me well is welcome in my life & those who don’t can’t get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I’m still not 100% sure even exist & don’t matter. just let it go.”

so she said all that to say what? what she NEEDS to do is keep her head down and STFU. The more she opens her mouth, the bigger the hole she digs herself. Does she think she’s the first female rapper to want other female rappers to write their own stuff? Is she that stupid? So all of a sudden it’s an issue because competition is boiling up. Girl BYE. And don’t bullshit “i’ve been saying this my whole career” a damn lie. As she throws shade and writing songs to oblivion, Iggy Azalea is making history. Not just as an artist, but as a female artist. An Australian at that. Do we see singers calling out other singers for topping charts with songs they didn’t write? Nicki girl sit. Iggy Azalea is actually opening these new doors you keep talking about. Too bad you couldn’t write your acceptance speech for the BET Awards coz girl, you looked so damn pressed. It was hilarious. “ALL THESE BITCHES IS MY SONS” but you’re over there dying LMFAO literally. girl, BYE!

finally catching up to whats going on with this situation, I can say this…Iggy came off as very articulate with her response. The hip hop many of us grew up on as it should, be based on the words of the spitter (mc). I remember vividly when Rosenberg gave his opinion on Nicki’s spaceships which I agreed on; wasn’t hip hop. She got her panties in a bunch about a dude giving his opinion on a genre the masses still care about be it male or female. With that being said, it bothers me that it’s o.k for someone to throw stones and it’s acceptable to hide the hand afterwards. you cant give a speech and then follow it up with “no shade”. If you’re calling for authenticity, there’s no difference in meaning what you’re saying and saying what you mean. OWN YOUR *hit! Passive aggressive comments, actions, raps, interviews, comments, speeches make you look ass. If you’re going to call someone out call them out. If not, STFU! Tactfulness goes a long way. If things weren’t authentic, the listeners will eat it up and spit it out. Let us decide what isn’t authentic especially if you’re going to be vague.
