Newsweek Calls Obama ‘The First Gay President’: Too Far?
Posted by Mikey Fresh under life beyond rap[7] Comments
Wow, main stream media is really going for it these days. Seriously, are these editors paying close attention to rap blogs and urban gossip sites?
Following Time mag’s controversial breastfeeding cover, Newsweek jumps out the window by calling Obama, “The First Gay President” on their new cover.
Did they go to far?
It’s easy to write off President Obama’s announcement of his support for gay marriage as a political ploy during an election year. But don’t believe the cynics. Andrew Sullivan argues that this announcement has been in the making for years. “When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work.” And President Obama has much in common with the gay community. “He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,” Sullivan writes.

So because he supports gay marriage it makes him the first “Gay” president? I have no problem with the gay community or their civil liberties . live and let live is my motto. But the over sensationalized shock value being displayed in magazines is getting ridiculous. I guess its a sign of the times (literally), they’re not selling anymore so they do anything to stir u controversy.

“He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,”
Really?! lol. Sounds more like an intervention than a “reconcile”, but whatever. Magazines are wild’n, ain’t they? haha.

For a while there; people accepted Bill Clinton as the ’1st Black President’…then along came Obama; so by the transitive property (Haha); along will come……
If you look at it from that perspective/with those lenses; it’s really not so bad. Evolve Y’all.

steam comes out of my fucking ears everytime people compare homosexuals problems with the black community … Homosexuality isnt evolution or holding the country back its more bs to distract people from real issues of course you can love who you want but fucking them is another story.. All this bs is just going to have men walking around in the street w/ dresses on smh disgusting..
