Jay Shells has done it again. For his latest inventive art project, the New Yorker merges rap lyrics and locations into “Rap Quotes.” The idea is simple but genius: plot over 30 authentic-looking street signs around the city based on which rapper shouted them out in a song. So swing over to 145th and Broadway and see Cam’ron’s lyrics plastered on the shiny red sign, head on over to 139th street and Lenox Ave and recite the rhymes of the late Big L, or cough up a lung in Marcy, son (word to Hov).
