Fayette-nam!
I wish that I was a rapper and could shoot a video in my hometown. However, I’d be walking around in circles for 4 minutes, as my hometown in NC is TINY.

As a video director myself, I gotta say I was impressed with clip!
It is VERY similar tho (in the sense of it being a ‘one-take’ clip) to Asher Roth’s “Muddy Swim Trunks” http://vimeo.com/11556345 (also directed by BBGUN) except this was on a much larger scale.

I liked the video, not sure if it really fit the energy of the song though. Think it was missing close-ups to make it more personal and in your face. But the pyro stuff and the marching band were really cool.
As far as the one-take goes. Reminded me of Xzibit and of course Santana!

for real.
I like this video as both you and Juice Black have stated. It’s basically a bigger budget version of “Simba”, which Cole did before.
The whole one-take thing has been done before (obviously) with way better videos and way better songs, as Steelo already pointed out.
Xzibit’s track and Santana’s track are infinitely better than this J.Cole track.
but to be fair, Cole is kinda bringing that video style back. It’s like an old style that hadn’t been used in a while. Too bad Cole is boring as fuck, monotone and really shouldn’t be rhyming.
Thanks for both those links Steelo. Hadn’t seem them shits in a minute! Talk about real hip hop right there!

It may not be one of his best tracks to date . I actually liked it. the video really didn’t match the track but which rap video does anyway. lets give him some time , you have to let it simmer
