Okay, so the concept for this video is nice, the direction is on point lke biro, but this guy needs to sort out these crazy mannerisms and gestures..The way the kid screws up his face and bounces around just comes across as real fake, over thought and just plain awkward. I thought he used to act?
i know i am about to be labeled a hater and whatnot but lets be honest dude’s a cornball with mediocre lyrics at best(set it off set it off Jada Pinkett??) and he tries too hard to not come off as a cornball but fails epically… sad reality is this is what passes as “good” music nowadays and his target audience is going to eat it up… im just waiting for Nas and Damian Marley to save us all

These 90’s babies eat this shit up. drake is no better than the 100’s of underground nice MC’s out there. He just rich and rolls wit lil wayne.
Drake got bars but he’s boring and his voice sucks. He also need to stop doing bad imitations of kanye and wayne. I liked him better before he hooked up with wayne.
EAST OAKLAND JAY Reply: April 12th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
you and most of drake’s “so called fans” more than likely didn’t know he was rapping before he was with wayne. Drake’s been out since early 07. Yall didn’t start hearing about him until the end of 08 & early 09. The same with nicki lol.
F Reply: April 12th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
I also co sign with you .Drake is a cornball who tries tooo hard 2 act hard . If it wasnt 4 Wayne would he have all these fans I think not . The video is boring like him
I really hope Drake’s fans don’t like him for his rap lyrics.. they have always been okay at best.
What they should appreciate is his ability to write to r&b subjects from a unique perspective and to make the accompanying melody work with his voice -not to be confused with singing. For examples see songs like the under appreciated ‘Brand New’.
but this video lacks all of the above… i think he was trying to go the ‘Forever’ route with the song judging by the subject but it’s lacking the swagger in his rap, the melody in his hook, no features and now a $1.99 video that leaves fans wondering where his $2m budget’s at. He threw in some symbolicism (is that a word)in the visuals but it’s not enough in my view.
I had a nice case of Monday morning brain freeze there where i thought that symbolicism could replace the word symbolism to show off my vocab, but obviously i didnt check to make sure lol.
ok wah i dont get is that this guy is really talented he made history at such a young age has been nominated 12 times and won two times for grammy awards and he isnt like ny other rappers u guys juss like to hear all of this dumb stuff that people say in their ryhmes like who cares about this video its juss the director making the video drake is just rapping in it so stop hating cuz drake is gonna make it to the top
Whats crazy is, yeah the first video sucked, but this one is was waaaay better. For all of you cats that are hating …. if ya’ll was on the set of this video shoot, you wouldnt even be sayin SH#$#$. WHO DA FUQ ARE YAAAAA’LLLL
I think the video is okay in terms of the concept and all that. Unfortunately he looks so uncomfortable in front of the camera which is quite strange considering his Degrassi days. The chick in the video is really pretty, for a minute I thought it was Trina.
I’m not hating at all, ‘Best I Ever Had’, and ‘Over’ are two of my favorite songs. However, I know a garbage video when I see one, and this is trash. Drake smoked wayyyyyyy too much for this one, his face look like a deformed Obama with all those weird ‘angry’ faces he making, and the director must have been smoking more than Drake. Why is he sitting in the bedroom looking like his mother about to tuck him into bed? This video is a joke, should be on one of the VH1 shows where they clown the hell outta people.
videos are really for directors to shine n show skill… unless theres a plot to tha video, there shouldnt have to be any ACTING in it. plus hes not doin the regular -throwin money around n there were no naked girls. no ones complainin bout wat color girls r in the video or anything of the “usual”.. and you people still arent satisfied.
drake is flowin off and enjoyin him self in that crazy visual room which i thought was awesome. when u feelin a song it shouldnt matter which faces are bein made as long as the song is bein felt.
stop hatin. and congradulate a succesful young man that has done somethin for himself. unlike those whom are at their computer downing successfull nigga’s hard work.
i think ppls problems is that the product is not living up to the hype so far but alot of ppl are cheering the kid on though is the sense i get, so it’s more like get your act right so we can love you like we thought we would.
this video looks like he’s walking through a projector while a presentation is going on and the hand movements are a little too much now, he needs to michael j fox his hands
Damn, I never realized so many people hate Drake. In a time where he and his crew seem to be all the world desires, the idea that not everyone buys the hype is interesting and, dare I say, refreshing.
Personally I am a Drake fan though, and like it or not, the kid is nice. You just can’t please everybody.
In an MTV interview, Drizzy said that the video took the song into a “whole nother” direction. The only place it took me was back to grade school, as I remember when the teachers would dim the lights so that we could watch the projector on the walls.
Maybe I’m not progressive/artsy enough, but I just don’t get this video. It’s a technical example of visual stylistic pr0nography akin to Jay-B’s “On to the Next One:” visually impressive, but lacking substance.
i don’t consider myself a drake fan by any measure, but i don’t get all the hate on this video. i’ll take this over any other typical rap video any day, and actually this song has really grown on me.
drake seem to be the only thing from this new class that i can take. for that i say good job…. but i think i found out a long time ago that i like rap style because its the closest to jay z as these new dudes/class can get.

The bar is just incredibly low at this point.
The thing is I really want to like Drake but he consistently leaves me underwhelmed; half his raps come off as lame pick-up lines.
Also the hook sounds like he’s trying to wean himself off the auto-tune but can’t quit cold turkey.

Pretty dope overall… cant hate it.
Wanted to; but nah, can’t.
The projection idea of showing the concept oftravel and a hectic schedule was pretty dope (effective and cheap, not a lot of post production there.)
the last 40 seconds felt to me like a perfume commercial with a Beyonce lookalike.
