New Music: Rick Ross feat. Ne-yo “Super High” (produced by DJ Clark Kent and the Remedy)

DJ Clark Kent says: “I snuck ‘em with this one, right, Info? I didn’t even really tell anyone….When we make a beat we got someone in mind, and as soon as we finished, I called Ross and said, I got something for you. See I’m not tryin’ to sell beats, I produce records. My keyboard players are called The Remedy, because we’re fixing the music.”
The first single off of Rawse’s upcoming Teflon Don album, debuted today by DJ Envy and then handed off by those NMC boys…I had to call up my old pal DJ Clark Kent and give props : )

Yeah, this sort of sounds like a Kanye beat maybe with a co producer. It’s very hot. I would prefer a female on the hook though.

That’s the dumbest shit I ever heard.. NeYo can’t do a record with Rick Ross cause he did one with 50?? First of all, NeYo is on Deeper Than Rap!!! LOL Second of all WHO CARES??? Third of all, 50 only got NeYo to do that record cause Jammie Foxx said NO!!! LOL Fourth.. WHO THE FUCK CARES???
April 12th, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Maaannn.. Ross Always Comes Off Over These Smooth, Heavy Instrumentation Tracks.. He Compliments Em And Vice Versa.. I Feel Like He’s Found A Distinct Lane With This Sound. Problem Is, He Couldn’t Do An Entire Album Like This, He Needs “Radio Joints”.. Damn This Record Industry.

I’m confused as well, makes me wonder how i find myself continuously likin his stuff at times. cant deny the way he flows over a smooth trak like this. and Ne-Yo never hurts the situation

He doesn’t have to have a believable story to have hot music.
Nobody believed that Arnold Schwartzenegger was the Terminator, and it was still a good action movie. Ross doesn’t have to be a super thug to make super thug music, as evidenced.

You right.. but it’s sort of reckless that Hip-Hop was based on integrity and truth not really fantasy… and I mean I guess the “New Industry” is all about selling records… Although I WISH Little Brother would still make music together I totally feel them, because the game is sada-fucked… I guess if I wanna keep it real I’ll listen to LB and if I want fabricated stories and delusions of gandure I’ll listen to RR… Just wish there was a balance… PS Cop my album The Entrepreneur on iTunes

you know NWA was straight fiction right LOL and if you didn’t FYI, plus they were ones that really put gangsta rap on the map LOL ……people forget ALOT of mf’ers either flat out lied on tracks or def embellished like a mofo..so in way knowing Rawse has some inconsistencies and believing for years NWA was real, LOL who is more fradulent?

i liked rick ross when he first came onto the scene, but when that whole police officer thing came out i jus lost interest, i dont nees rappers to b thugged out to like their music, i jus dont like fake ppl, and ross clearly aint a gangsta but he still portrays one, i dont get why ppl still buy his shit.. this is why im still down with g unit, 50 is probly the realest person ever to grace the game, yayo’s jus straight crazy, and banks is loyal as fuck.
byw, info if ur readin this, where the hell is tha new dre joint…

It’s funny that you mention Dr. Dre. You know Dr. Dre used to look REAL fruity in this group called the World Class Wrecking Crew before NWA and The Chronic, right? The World Class Wrecking Crew dressed like an amalgam of the Isley Brothers and Marvin Gaye. No “Dr. Dre, Mr. NWA, waving the AK” and blunt smoking during those days. Youtube them
If your favorite gangster rapper was REALLY who they said they were, then rappers are the biggest snitches in the WORLD. Turning state’s evidence in every track. SMH.
In other news, that new Harry Potter book sucks because JK Rowling is not really a witch!

Yeah Rawse!!!!
I’m pulling for Ross. I’ve been a fan since the Port of Miami, and I genuinely respect folk that get progressively better at their profession. He’s seemingly become a better rapper AFTER the beef with 50. Last year’s “Deeper Than Rap” was one of the best cohesive albums of the year, and was ignorantly snubbed by the Grammys.
Rick Ross EASILY has the best ear for beats of any rapper in the game. I’m eagerly anticipating “The Teflon Don.”

Ehh. Put someone with a more distinctive voice, flow, cadence or ad-libs on this beat. Nice CK production, but Ross just doesn’t have anything that makes him shine.
the track works better with so many other rappers:
Andre 3000
Raekwon
Joell
Game
Dylan…etc

this joint is NIIIICCCCEEEEEEE, its like I could see Rawse like a Barry White of Hip Hop LOL… seriously, LOL the music is lush, layered, has a polish, and “sophiscation” to it, I LOVE it young, even if he wasn’t a straight G in the streets *kanye shrug*

More thoughts:
Ross has the ear of some NYC folk recently: Jigga, Diddy, Russell, Ryan Leslie, now DJ Clark Kent? Good look.
I’ve said it before and it bears reiterating: Rick Ross is making the type of music that BIG would be making if he had not been sent back to the essence. Tell me that for the first 10 seconds of the track, you don’t think BIG is about to start flowing.

I think the way Clark described it, is he felt it needed someone with a big voice, not as in B.I.G., but like deep and with volume. So yes Ross def fits that

the way clark kent is talking about the beat you would expect some classic shit.
for some reason it reminds me of some old def squad track(if you looking for me you can find me in the guinness book, only fly bitches ride with the boss have a look), its cool

It’s ok, definitely better than the joint with John Legend, but it’s ehhh, especially for a first single. But, if he is dropping in the end of June, and his first single just came out, then it is safe to say Kanye and Jeezy won’t be dropping in June. I mean no singles or nothing for them, still waiting on T or D 2.

I see Ross still gets the comments flowing. Its spring and the windows are down int eh truck so I’d bang this. DOn’t even hav ethe time to battle over whose “real” anymore. This is what it is and musically I aint mad at this.

its no secret that rick is the 2010 version of CB4 (chris rock movie), but the truth is, he makes good music, his beats are harder and sound more east coast than 50% of the NY rappers out. his last album was on point song 4 song. this track is hot but im not sure about it being a 1st single, its definitely a hot album cut.

A classic! The summer is made for this type of music, I can’t wait!! Rick Rawse should re-do the classic Isaac Hayes covers: Black Moses and Hot Buttered Soul.
What’s up Clark, I know you get this! Great call getting Rick for this symphonic track!

Good track though.. this is Ross’ bread & butter. I”m definitely anticipating this album more than Drake’s! Then Kanye & TI..
