(obviously, that’s not Drake with MJB.
Perhaps that photo op will make itself available this weekend)
New Music: Mary J Blige “The One” featuring Drake
(big up to DJ Enuff for the world premiere on his Hot97 Rush Hour mix. And to answer your question…yes, that’s a lil’ autotune you hear. So what do you think?)

1) Why does Mary need autotune? It is evident that Mary can sing her ass off. Autotune (before it was physically abused by T-Pain and others) was used to correct pitch control for “singers” who needed assistance staying in tune w/ the song. So I don’t see the purpose of this.
2) God damn it! She said “swagger” less than a minute into the song. Why do you need to use that word, Mary? Why are you falling for the okey-doke?
3) Darkchild has not been john blaze on the R&B / soul scene since Brandy and Gina Thompson were poppin’. This beat shoulda went to someone way more generic and bubble gum. Basically like the artists he’s been working with lately (Pussycat Dolls, Ciara, etc). Not Mary.
MARY, WHAT R U DOIN’ TO ME?!

I wanna like this because I love Mary but I am not a fan of this at all. It sounds like it was made for a 18 year old to sing especially with the Drake feature.
I want to Info but the autotune and the song just ain’t it…

it’s not terrible. Drake delivers a radio-worthy verse. This could blow up, unless people are tired of autotune.

Funny thing is it’s not Drake personally , cuz his a humble guy or his music which isnt bad that I think erks people, But its the Hype.
It’s like with Lebron. The guy is a great talent but the Hype around him is 4,5 years ahead of where he is. That’s how folk are acting towards Drake. Like he’s gone Diamond on bac to bac albums.
It’s a set for the biggest triumph or the greatest let down.

know him from going and chilling in toronto with him, boi-1da, sosa and the other up and comers out there the last couple yrs. I could throw out a few light things like the real stories behind how he met wayne and trey…him writing for detox…him claiming he was signed to interscope just a couple months ago…him claiming [in canada] that he was working with wayne, when all he was doing was putting his vocals on unreleased wayne joints [before they met of course]…he a cocky lil dude but i got no problem gettin money with the kid…and the bidding war been over for a minute its atf/atlantic records

I applaud drake for becoming a Canadian teen soap opera star to the Hottest rapper ever in the eyes of 15 yr old girls. Luckily for him 15 yr old girls run the music scene.

Mary ain’t the greatest singer, but i like the song… She sounds good with the autotune. Even though it’s overused, it’s still a great plugin.

Jay will be not at Summer Jam!! he preferred to travel to Beyonce.
that sucks. He doesnt care about his career anymore. There’s only Beyonce in his mind anymore. lol No hate but its hard to be a Hova fan sometimes.

I think that Mary did a good job on this track. Yes she can sing, she has proved it to us all time and time again. Let the Queen Ride and do her damn thing. She has been so humble for so many years, while other un-worthy people have came in and step in the game trying to take what she started. Remember before all of the Beyonce’s, Ciara’s, Faith Evans, Gina Thompsons, Mya’s, etc, There was Mary J. Blige. And for someone to still be in the game doing it for how many years???? She deserves to be strong enough to call herself “The One” and use whatever tools she needs to use to make her music crossover to different folks. Have you ever been to one of her shows? Have you seen the pain that this woman has been through, just to get accepted in this game? Now it’s so easy for these half ass chicks to show a little ass, and then get cash. Mary hasn’t done that and she has kept it real with us for so many years, that’s why it’s been hard for her. Give it up. Who is writing this stuff? How old are you people? Coming from a Grown Woman, let the lady ride and use whatever she wants, and sing whatever she wants. Go ahead Mary do the damn thing!

the single is HOT!! it’s got a nice beat, it’s fun, it’s dancible. Mary can say she’s the one. i have been a fan of hers since she started but when i went to see her live…that took it to a whole other level. that bitch can blow! she doesnt need autotune but she can use it to create a different sound. her humulity has been incredible with all she’s accomplished and everything she has been through. She’s having fun and i’m glad she’s finally giving it to herself. yeah mary you are “THE ONE”

this song is horrible!!! the real mary j first single is “Good Love” feat. TI …no one wants to hear the Queen of R&B singing thru autotune and over an outdated track at that…Rodney used the same drums for Megan Rochell and Keyshia..and that was already over 2 years ago…check out “Good Love” and see what mary should sound like ..

Just some more examples of people that don’t know anyting about music. What other R&B Chick do you know that can do what Mary does? Mary has pratically worked with anyone and everyone in the music business from a Hip-Hop perspective. All of yal’ haters can continue to hate on Mary. Like she said “Let em’ get mad, they gon’ hate anyway don’t you get that. Doesn’t matter if they’re going on with your plan. They’ll never be happy cause they’re not happy with themselves”. Mary is going to work that and her album will be succesful just like the other Mary joints. I think that “The One” is a great single to break the album out. Her husband Kendu has her anyway. He is a vet in the music business and they both will collaborate and figure out what is best for the 1st single. Anyway! Where are my Mary fans. Don’t let these chumps dog our girl like this. Fire that isshh back…. Yal’ know that everything that Mary does it hot…..

The record is fire perfect for summer and perfect for the clubs. The auto tune is only on certain words. I love it and everyone will be singing it by the end of this month. Also its doesn’t sound like a 19 year olds song wtf if thats the case what the hell is jamie Foxx’s Blame it considered. This record is a WIn i hope they kill the video.

this is a great track for mary to come back with because it keeps her modern and new.not old and ordinary.its different and using auto tune only puts an edge to the song it does’nt make the song. and by the way she does’nt use auto tune throughout the entire song. def. a club banger and its gonna give mary yet another number 1 single…im proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

For real, what the hell has she “been through”? I’ve never heard an artist whine for entire albums straight about what she’s “been through” and all the drama and pain and never even say what exactly the hell she’s talking about. The average Mary album goes a little something like this: “I’ve gone through lots of things. I won’t tell you what, but you ain’t been in my shoes. You don’t know what it’s like. It’s been struggle and strife and it’s been hard for me.” Yeah, hard to make an album that’s not wack.
