Posted by Miss Info under Beef , New Music[64] Comments
Much ado about autotune….
Tonite the big homie Funk Flex had the city holding its breath for the debut of Jay-Z’s first single off of his upcoming Blueprint 3 album…which we all know when it will drop and where and with distrib from whom, etc, etc….and he finally played it tonite on Hot97, of course : )
so here’s the Funk Flex extended-bombarded version, with the CDQ to come on Sunday….
New Music: Jay-Z “Death of Autotune” (produced by No I.D. and Kanye West)

t-pain diss track dropping soon <_<
now can we get an Info world premiere of the CDQ?

Interesting, very interesting.Sounds more freestyle-ish too me and the titles had me to believe he was REALLY gonna go in on some cats but perhaps it’s just a warning shot.
I’m hoping a few of our 90’s era (NY) MC’s jump on this beat for a lethal remix.Lox maybe?Ghostface maybe? Hell a rejuvenated DMX would put a smile on my face for this.

Shout out to missinfo you stay on the grind
June 5th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
this song is calculated & strategic….Jay’s on some Sun Tzu shit
It’s funny, cuz instead of aiming for one specific individual to take the bait, like he did with Nas, he waited for ALL THE ROACHES to crawl into the roach motel known as Autotune, and just casually picked it up & discarded of it. In one fell swoop, he has dismissed a trend.
Yeah, his influence might be diminished at this point, but this is an important record. He’s drawn a line in the sand & said, “Enough’s enough”.
I approve of this record.
this is the same type of shit Fifty pulled with Ja Rule, lol
this is such a major power play by Jay, it ain’t even funny…
Some of the biggest records this year, last year & the year before were from proponents of Autotune, for example, Lil Wayne, Kanye, & Drake…he’s goin’ after THEIR market share (for those who are easily converted & quick to jump ship)
June 5th, 2009 at 10:41 pm
yeah, flex spazzed out 2nite! death of autotune is the gem we been missing! HoV does it again!
June 5th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRE!!!! & I don’t even ride Jay Z like that but he caught this!!!! The baseline is almost the same as “The Take Over” but No I.D. & Yeezy caught this beat, this go hard for real. Yall lil young skinny jeans wearing kids need to listen to what he saying & stop riding other peoples d!cks, word to mother. & studythe history too because No I.D. ain’t a new producer he been bangin out beats for years. On some some real live sh!t, this that bring NY rap back sh!t for real
June 5th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
AS MY BIG HOMMIE FLEX WOULD SAY THIS IS THE HARDEST RECORD OUT! UUUUUUUGGGGGGG LOL
BY THE WAY 1ST!
June 5th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
Reading the early reactions to this song Hov’s irony seem to have gone over most peoples heads.
June 5th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
hahaha the picture is too clever

FUNKMASTERFLEX NIGHT [/in my NERD voice]
June 5th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
dope however i think he should have made the na na na hay hay goodbye in actual auto tune the singing took away from the song and his bars need to step up which im sure they will no id could have just put out that instrumental and it would been hot this is what rap needs quality music
June 5th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
It’s Official… The Song of This Summer is “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam.
Oh yeah, and Jay Z could just have single handedly killed autotune
June 5th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
wow…
as much star(& bucwild)-ish hate i spew, I cant say anything bad about this song. I really like it on first listen. I guess my only complaint is why Kanye didnt save that for himself…
nevermind, i forgot kanye tries to avoid production that is “too hip hop” hor his own lps.
June 5th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Love this site miss info,
June 5th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
wow….this not even song
that’s the crazy part about it
as ya can see Jay keep his ear on street
SOMEBODY FROM BMF TO TALK ON IT
JAY HOVA GOD MC
June 5th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
sidebar: anyone else think it’s ironic kanye produced a Death of Autotune song, 6 months after releasing an album w/ enough autotune for Daft Punk’s catalogue.
June 5th, 2009 at 11:34 pm
@ Screwface. Seriously I have a count of 3 so far:
1) Jay
2) Wale
3) Kristinia Debarge
Who got next? lol
June 5th, 2009 at 11:36 pm
yeah that’s just one of the many many ironies…
June 5th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
another irony is the so called offical single is suppose to feature Drake, who is no stranger to the autotune effect.
June 5th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
I wonder if Jay-Z planned to leak his new record to coincide with Twitter’s scheduled maintenance. He was just 5 of the 10 trending topics over there, and now the site is down. Now he can say his shit is so hot that it killed the whole Twitter service for a while. Pretty slick there Shawn.
June 5th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
@missinfo and @protoman19: Kanye didn’t produce this track. Jay made that clear twice. Where is the Kanye production irony?
June 5th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
what is another irony miss info ??? I know you got more to say…
June 5th, 2009 at 11:58 pm
Okay… Im kinda gettin sick of Jayz. He needs to seriously get over himself. I luv Jayz as a rapper, but all he does when he raps is boost and victimize himself and go on and on about how great he is and how everyone hates him cause hes so “great” Jayz…dude, get over yourself! That shit is getting so old! I just listened to that song and its more of the same shit, him going on and on about himself arrogantly. Is their more broad topics to rap about Jayz? GET OVER YOURSELF!
(And NO im not just saying that Cause I LUV Cam’ron… I LUV Jay-z too. Blueprint 1 is one of my favorite albums ever. Im just sick of him going on and on about how great he is. Is he trying to convince us, himself…or Beyonce? Smh)
5,4,3,2,1…. Here come the haters!
June 6th, 2009 at 12:05 am
hmm….well here’s the thing. No I.D. did the track…but kanye was involved according to my sources. He may have even been on an earlier version of the track. But I dont want to confirm until I have it in hand.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:05 am
exactly!
June 6th, 2009 at 12:06 am
LOL…yeah, well if anyone tries to take credit for scheduled mainenance, then they should be ashamed of themselves….lol…we all got the notices for over a day!
June 6th, 2009 at 12:07 am
Songs like this make u really miss what rap and hip hop used to be. Everything is corny and fruity these days. Nothing but B.S. out there so we all just accept it. Good to hear one of the veterans step up and say enuff is enuff.
June 6th, 2009 at 12:08 am
this song reminds me of when i learned how to play the recorder flute in 4th grade..
and lol@ all the people willing to throw away their auto-tine records and kool aid colored skinny jeans now that jay said its okay.. how does a guy as commercial as jayz become a counter culture hero anyway?..
June 6th, 2009 at 12:09 am
Give it to a blood let a crip walk on it…whoa…..
Yea but mad niggas have been using auto tune o.d latly and not playing they position hov gonna have niggas cut that out I was tired of that shit. Good shit hov always doing what’s right for the community see you at summer jam

I guess I’m officially not buying this cd anymore. That damn Drake is ruining everything right now.
…Degrassi ass, fake Trey Songz, high yellow, model lookin jerk.

“all he does when he raps is boost and victimize himself and go on and on about how great he is and how everyone hates him cause hes so “great” Jayz…dude, get over yourself!”
“5,4,3,2,1…. Here come the haters!”
——————————
so, she hates jayz cause his ego and arrogance makes him think everyone hates him.. yet her ego arrogance makes her think she has “haters” coming in 5 seconds.. what a gal..
June 6th, 2009 at 12:18 am
where are you gettin that drake was supposed to be on this song… I never heard or read that once… and now the song is here and no drake, so….
June 6th, 2009 at 12:43 am
i think jay wants to be the dude who get to claim he killed auto-tune
but it’s a strong beast man…..every time it fizzles some new track comes out and revitalizes it
June 6th, 2009 at 12:43 am
i will celebrate by going to Ruth’s Chris if autotune stops, been waiting for this to happen for the longest.
June 6th, 2009 at 1:02 am
Hardbody track by hov still the man in the game without even tryin
June 6th, 2009 at 1:32 am
“so, she hates jayz cause his ego and arrogance makes him think everyone hates him.. yet her ego arrogance makes her think she has “haters” coming in 5 seconds.. what a gal..”
Real talk.
And where is old girl getting Jay-Z “victimize himself” in his rhymes?
June 6th, 2009 at 1:33 am
I thought he wanted ‘some t-pain on his shit’? MANNNNNNNN…
The song itself is cool, but wtf? this some b.s.
June 6th, 2009 at 1:49 am

Yeah I’m lovin Hov for doin this. Can someone now provide the etherization of the word swag??? Kindly appreciate it!!!
AutoTune R.I.P
June 6th, 2009 at 4:34 am
If it was actually a good song, it would have power.
But the truth is, the song is fair to poor.
Nothing special.
Won’t be a hit.
Only relevant because Jay-Z wrote it.
June 6th, 2009 at 6:58 am
i really do not like the song but i definitely like what its about f*ck autotune!!! i only ever use it when im fully bored and wanna freestyle some lil wayne shit loool
June 6th, 2009 at 7:07 am
thank god sum1 done this
1 year from now no autotune?
we can all hope
June 6th, 2009 at 8:26 am
Is the “I might send it to mixtape weezy” a shot at his radio hits? Like “the boy can spit fire, but when he warbles with autotune I want to kill myself”?
June 6th, 2009 at 8:31 am
this is like a anti jay site lol
any way if he does kill auto tune it will be like when he killed jerseys
“i don’t wear jerseys I’m thirty plus
Give me a crisp pair of jeans nigga button ups” and then it died
June 6th, 2009 at 9:49 am
Even though I don’t feel Jay’z lyrically as much as I used to. It’s funny that it takes HIM saying “no to autotune” to make such a big commotion when people have been saying this for months now. Let’s see if there actually IS a decline in A.T usage now or if folk ignore Jay-Z denouncement due to many of the previouslt stated ironies involved here.
June 6th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Jay yes you are a millionaire/but your far from the hardest out here/
You haven’t been hard since Bee made you bust in her hair/
since that nut dried most of your fans didn’t care/
you are the hardest? Get the fuck up outta here!!!
That’s like Bleek being one hit away and hasn’t had that one hit in years.
Let’s be clear!!!!
June 6th, 2009 at 10:31 am
@ #31
Exactly
Jay made more points in the interview then he did in the Song. But that’s the game. Folk can speak against autotune month after month and folk respond saying your hating.
But once Jay says “enough”, now it’s a “powerful statement”
June 6th, 2009 at 10:55 am
Its a good look for hip-hop. Production is tight and jay got straight to the point!! maybe this will make the less talented put down the auto-tune and try something new….
hey hey heeeeeeey good bye!! lol
June 6th, 2009 at 11:12 am
I’m not gonna hate, that was a very smart move from jay. I haven’t heard the song since I’m on my blackberry, but, still it is sure to create a buzz. And it might have at least rappers thinking twice to use thàt shit in their songs now that their “dad” has claimed it wack.
June 6th, 2009 at 11:32 am
The song is aight but its quite clear to me what Jay is doing. auto tune is on its way out anyway. maybe a year or two left an its over. you know this because now white people are up on it and we all know that by the time white people catch on to sumtin its already played out. so Jay Z has jumped out to be the “first” to diss auto tune officially as it declines so as to say to the world, “hey look i killed auto tune!” when the shit is really dead already.
Also if it iz true that Kanye and Drake r supposed to be on the track w/Jay then their only doing it because T-Pain wus a lil upset with everybody for eating on his “meal ticket”. i could be wrong, just my opinion.
June 6th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
@ Bobby…
Hello darling… I knew you were on your way. How’s it going?
June 6th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
i think death of autotune is much deeper than autotune itself. Autotune the scapegoat for many issues wrong with music.
June 6th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
wait….why is there so much hate?…..smh
this song is fire
June 6th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
i like it…
June 6th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Respect due to Jay/No I.D. without question, the song is undeniably HARD, just place it in the portfolio…
With that said I am flabbergasted, that reality is, that people (I use the word loosely) were actually waiting the fuck around for Jay or someone like him,(but it seems to be Jay)…to SIGNAL the death of something!!! Take your power back. WHO ARE YOU FUCKING ZOMBIES???? EAT YOURSELVES DEAD AGAIN!
Fuckit, I’ll play your father- Rule #3044
“Strive for originality in ALL things, ya snot nosed punkasses!!!”
June 6th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
As always, the real hiphop is ova herrrreee!

I love this song!!Jov is going against the grain!!Reminds me of krs when he was going against fake gangsta rap
June 7th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
@bboycult, i dont necessarily think that ppl were waitin for him to kill it because i def know in my circle everyone has beeeeen tired of autotune but Jay sayin it is jus gonna mean more because of what he has already accomplished in hip hop and who he is, but if you werent tired of it before this song and suddenly its played out then yeah “zombie” lol, the song is fuckin crazy btw
June 7th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
