New Music: Fabolous feat. Drake “Throw it in the Bag” (Remix)
Posted by Miss Info under about miss info , hmmm....? , new music[58] Comments
Lol, I remember Fab saying at that dinner party that he was waiting for Drake’s verse, but that Drake’s ACL tear was delaying the process. To which, Fab wondered…what does his ACL have to do with it? Good point! Well, no matter, here it is. Thanks to Steve at BoBo.
Download: Fabolous featuring Drake “Throw It in the Bag” (Remix)
*random question: earlier today on twitter, me and NCB (Editor in Chief of Complex) were wondering if the avalanche of content (concert footage, interviews, music links) is overwhelming to you, the audience.
Do you actually download all the songs that get posted (or would you rather preview it via streaming before downloading)? Do you take the time to watch all the clips of artists performing songs that you already know…or songs that you’ve never heard? And do you watch all the interviews, or only if you’ve been told there’s a juicy topic or quote?
PS: I think I’m gonna start posting new music without photos (unless its a big exclusive)…because I wonder if music download posts should be more unobtrusive?
July 20th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Personally, I usually preview the song via streaming before downloading.
Good idea on music download posts being more unobtrusive, but still people who follow your page will take it the same way.

I just wonder if all the scrolling down takes away from posts where I actually have an opinion? I dunno….

Nah. You’re still good. We still pay attention to the sponge-like posts dripping wet with your opinion. Oh, and as far as interviews go that’s subjective. I enjoyed the Cam interviews. Good to have him back.

I always felt like the streaming that xxlmag.com and rapradar.com does is the most sensible way to present music. The download link wouldn’t hurt but if someone likes the music they’ll find it anyway. I hate downloading stuff I haven’t heard. You do a good job when posting the newsworthy items. As for video. I ignore 87.9% of vid posts because there’s so much of them.. evArywhere! It has to be exclusive to ur site, I guess.

If i really listened to every song/video/snippet that gets posted on blogs and/or emailed to me, I would be sitting there all damn day!!
There is a thing known as saturation and at some point it is entirely too much content out there. NO.. I don’t want to see my favorite rapper digging in his nose or whatever else benign acts get posted online.
To me, the way to freak the new music is just to have a separate section for that, except for big exclusives.

good point. I was thinking of only featuring new music as small posts so they dont take up space, and then having a link to “new music” on the site to get an overview?

-I rarely watch the interviews unless there is something pertinent to my interests (album release or an ‘I can’t believe he/she’ said that quote).
-For songs, I’ll grab it if I recognize the artist and 50/50 if I don’t depending on how enthusiastic the post is on the music. A streamed preview of the song would probably lead me to grab more unknown artists tracks. -Finally, as for live performances, I pretty much pass unless it is an unreleased song.

so all that rushing to post footage from concerts is irrelevant to you?
I wonder if maybe folks who dont have access to lots of shows feel differently?
so you wont watch an interv, unless the “I can’t believe” quote is flagged for you?

You are probably right re: footage of live shows; without access to them, I could see the allure being greater, especially for artists with a strong buzz. That said, what I like about live events is the vibe of the crowd and the artist performing, which rarely translates to live show footage IMO. Without that vibe, I’d rather just listen to an mp3 of a song vs seeing a video of it performed live.
For interviews, I’m with knockout ed in that I’d probably be up for watching shorter, multiple part interviews over longer interrupted ones.

yea the newsworthy post of interviews ir exclusive music is the only thng i look for. idk bout no1 else but im sure aftr ive herd drake “best i evr had” evry 2 mins totaling a million times a day i dont thnk him performin it on stage wavin his lil hands is rather interesting. unless of course a water bottle is flung & hits him n @ which point it becomes newsworthy

ok….so, do you think I should just focus more on news, than anything else….I also like to point out or discuss something in a news story that strikes me. And I enjoy posting about other media/film/tv/tech that isnt totally hip hop but still very relevant to me/hiphopfans.

I think you are doing “OKAY”. But I think you have to get back to the reason you started this blog in the 1st place. To get your view-point across (I hope). You have access to things that 95% of the world doesnt. So thats what got ev’1 checking your site, and listening to you on hot 97 at the top of the hour…so stick to the exclusives…and the extra stuff is cool, the new games, parties and shows…because its not from the same boring perspective that most blogs report from.

I like the Fader’s way of posting new music. A pic, a few words, a stream of the song and a download link:
http://www.thefader.com/2009/07/20/free-energy-free-energy-mp3/
As for concert footage I rarely care as I think most artists in hip hop put on a terrible live show.
Interviews I only watch if it’s an artist I really care about and even then I usually don’t watch the whole thing.

got it….sometimes I’ll post a longer intv because I feel like I’d like my clips to feel more substantial. As if you were committing to a short sitdown segment on TV. Also because I already do alot of time-consuming editing to cut out fluff.
But its a waste of all that effort if ppl dont want to watch when they see its 5-6 min long.

I watch interviews only for those artists I care about. I wish Hip Hop blogs would host their own mp3s and not relied on annoying sites like zshare, so we could download with one click, instead of having to deal with ads and pop ups and loud advertisements etc. Some of us work in offices! ha

hmm, I got an add-on for firefox which I love which skips all the zshare waiting time….
also, I think the prob w hosting is that it takes up alot of bandwidth?
as for intvs, I’m finding that alot of times artist who are less known are less rehearsed and repetitive tho….

I download before stream…mainly because i am normally on my bberry. but the reduction of pictures info, not mad at that. when on a desktop i do watch all the interviews though.

Over saturation is just a result of too many people saying the same thing. Personally the pics with the music is pretty but i want to hear the artist i never care about the artwork unless is classic (The cover of Rae’s album OB4Cl or the cooking soul retro album cover)
the videos i watch when i wake up or when i get back home its the news for real for the INTERNETS.
I do wish that you streamed the music, then at least i know if i want to use up the 1 remaining gig i have left on my computer before i download a song.
but you keep it simple already not much fuss go to some other pages and you jump through too many hoops of fire to download or see more content.
I love the way you do what you do!
you smelled better than the BBQ sat LOL
INTERNETS!!!!!!!!!
last but not least, when you post the concerts and and interview its aprreciated. Cause you are plugged in sometimes they dont find out anything until weeks later when everything is all said and done. and most people dont have the personal access that you do so i think you give that insider prospective.

yeah I feel like there are so so many places where you can get so so much. So my lane is to only post what I actually care about or have something to add to in conversation….or to play ombudsman or reality check. If people know I’m a stickler for accuracy then come for that, then I’m happy.

quick reference to that but the most original post that i could tell you cared about was the Shiba Inu puppies lol it wasnt hip hop but Hip-heart!!!!!!
#quiteasitskept after i showed a few female friends they watched it for weeks (ok i watched a couple of days) until the puppies were given away. speak from the heart and people will always listen.

Just a suggestion based on “hiphopupdate” but they just do one “new music” post with however many songs rather than one post per song, but I guess you don’t post nearly as much music…either way music posts should be short, unless we’re getting an opinion!
I never watch concert footage unless it’s something new/controversial (cue Game…well, the first time before he did the same thing in every country).
Keep doing you Info, it’s a good look getting opinions from the actual folk who visit

It’s far from over whelming but I think it becomes overly repetitious. The same music post shows up on the my dashboard 4-6 times in the span of 10mins. I’m someone that LIKES getting as much info as possible.(no pun intended…well maybe a lil bit) But with this age of seeking the exclusive story. There is a HUGE drop in creditability, reliability and quality vs “speed to post”.
Rappers and entertainers as pseudo news reporters via twitter can be real dangerous too. The amateur blogger that is trying to get known rushes to post things that aren’t true or aren’t fact checked which is a problem as well.
For what it’s worth PLEASE DON’T CHANGE WHAT YOU DO. I weigh ALL entertainment blogs, new reports and “rumors” against you. Yes you’re human but you’ve proven time and time again to be more substance and little flash. As long as their is a site like this that I can fall back on, I can always ignore the excess that is littering the Internet.

I watch new music videos like the 50 Cent video you just posted. I’d only click a link of new music if it was a diss record by an artist I actually respect. Whenever a record breaks it’s usually on a mixtape somewhere so i’d rather download a body of work than just one single.
Interviews not so much, unless there was a PSA in it.
News is what I come here for more than anything else.

Interviews are only watched when it has controversy…. And def listen before download….. Concerts aren’t watched because 80% of those videos aren’t clear unless it’s a hot97 summer jam event… LOL and that’s the truth… Oh yeah keep the interviews to jim jones game 50 and uhhhj can n dmx they always have controversial things to say LOL..

I stream everything first, rap music doesn’t move me like it did when I was younger, I’m 27.
Concert footage: I’ll look at some of it, only if it interests me, usually based on what you say. I just hate how concerts sounds. The Joe Budden apology footage with the concert in the background…brutal!!
Interview are pretty much the same concept.
All in all Info, you got this blogging thig down. Not too much, but just enough to keep the pallet wet. Add to the fact that you actually have insight that the rumor sites and music sites don’t have cause they are kids behind a computer that have NO RELATIONSHIPS with 97% of the artists.
Keep up the good work!

Really depends on how you want to angle your posts and ultimately your blog/reputation. Link drop more and your insight become less important but your readers consume more.
That being said, there are enough link droppers out there and any semi-addicted hip hop head will have those sites on their RSS readers/bookmark bar/check 5x a day list. You have a unique insider’s voice that’s both in tune with the artists/industry and those of us that consume the content.
If there’s content worth being read/listened to/watched because YOU think its relevant to the scene the way YOU see it and would benefit YOUR readers, by all means drop the embedded player in and we’ll eat it up. Your readers trust your word, that’s why we follow you. And give us your thoughts too (well, as long as you “keep it real” and provide a definitive “at the end of the day” synopsis and all that…).
On the flipside, if its random mixtape X from artist Y and you’re dropping the link because everyone else is or artist Y is the biggest thing since that last slice of white/wheat/multigrain bread, we can probably do without.

hmm, if anything I can see ppl wanting to download a whole mixtape bc its like getting a complete album. That seems worth it. Meanwhile, song by song seems tedious.
Also, I def dont think I can preview/or stream a mixtape…that’ll be too much bandwidth.
After all the probs that I had before I upgraded my server, I’m paranoid about overloading.

I’ll refollow after he’s down pushing that thing. I do however downloaded Trey Songz’ music…but only because I stan for him..hey it is what it is. As for you uploading music and stuff…that’s not really why I come here. I like your snark cynicism…reminds me of myself. Not to mention you always have the most random videos of artist I don’t actually hear about much that make me giggle. LOVES IT…especially the one’s on Joe Budden..dude is like really his own biggest fan and I find that utterly hilarious.

I find the concert footage in most cases hard to watch. I personally, am tired of all these new interviews/videos that look- like was shot made by home movies. There really is no excuse for these hip hop artists to have these bootleg looking videos. Sure, there budget is small, but how can you really brag about how wealthy you are, when your bread and butter, music, and all that entails, is making the artist look broke….

If the song is upped on zshare il normally preview it quickly before downloading it and then if its shit il just delete it, after all downloading a mp3 dont take that long does it.
On videos il normally check the interviews and videos if it is a artist i like but far to much mtv footage gets put it as i cant check it as aint in America ha!

I don’t normally download off the bat. I usually just Google the song from ur site and preview it. lol. As for all the other things going on with ur site… I don’t see anything wrong. I love the interviews. I even watched a Maino interview and I know little to nothing about him. The vids about live shows and concerts are cool (except for the Beyonce stuff *yawn* lol). It almost gives these MC’s no where to hide. Like we’ll always find the truth somewhere on ur site eventually.

That’s what keeps me attracted to ur site because that’s EXACTLY how I feel. When I got put on to site I was pleased by all the info(hence why she calls herself missinfo people) that I was able to find on certain artist. Not every artist deserves attention but so far it seems like ur careful about who you release information about. Example: Joe Budden. Some complain about the coverage. If he wasn’t that relevant then there wouldn’t be 40 plus comments under a Joe Budden post. Keep doin’ you and just filter through the opinions that are constructive and beneficial to the progression of missinfo and missinfo.tv.
