New Music: Drake featuring Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Eminem “Forever”
Posted by Mikey Fresh under new music[150] Comments
MissInfo: This highly anticipated track is off the soundtrack for that Lebron James documentary, “More Than a Game,” which drops this Friday. But this also marks the fulfillment of Weezy’s wish…to collaborate with Eminem. The consensus thus far is that some came to play others came to watch….but even still, this song is dope. My boy Legend/Onsmash and Daniel from LilWayneHQ say that a more complete version is coming soon, sans tags but with an singer on the hook.
UPDATE: Drake featuring Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Eminem “Forever” (Updated link with No Tags)
UPDATE 2: I can’t keep up, but Legend and my NMC boys say this tagless version is the final version….until a more final version drops on Fri, lol.
(Props to Legend and Daniel at LilWayneHQ )

Dude…he will not/should not ever get at Ross.
Notice that ever since Curtis stopped mentioning his name and Em didn’t take the bait, Ross has litterally disappeared?
Best thing they ever did was stop mentioning his tubby a**.
They play the Maybach music remix on XM but almost always cut his verse out and only Ye and Weezy’s verses.
Fraud’s 15 minutes are up.

Em didn’t murder anyone but he did flex his muscle and remind everyone he’s still got it for sure best verse on the song too bad he hasn’t been able to do the same on his last two albums which were filled mostly with incoherent nonsense and boring tracks I mean how many dark and ominous beats with organs and strings is he gonna fucking spit on LOL but never the less he murdered this track not the other 3 rappers cause they did there thing as well but he killed the track for sure

Em killed it by going the hardest on the whole song, his lyrical wordplay was retarted
“you dealin with a few true villians
whose staying inside of the booth truth spillin,
and spit true feelings, til our tooth fillings come flying up out of our mouths”
maybe u think he wasn’t saying anything cause u didn’t take his advice and “rewind it” And if you don’t think Em was on the beat listen to the drum beat in the backround that he’s dancing around like mahommed ali
Not to mention that the track was called forever, and little wayne’s verse was about not stopping
“shhh, my foots sleeping on the gas, no brake pads no such thing as last”
Do you fools listen to music, or do you just skim throught it- Jay-Z

If you have to ask “how did Em kill it”, then I know you don’t listen to music, you just skim through it. HipHopDon, you probably a “swag” fan. Me, I’m a lyrical skill / Flow fan. And Em had lyrics and flow that outshined and put to shame the other 3 guys on the track. Notice that almost everyone concurs Eminem is the best verse. You just trying to be different for the sake of being different.

The entire verse was aimed at the other 3 guys… that’s how he murdered it and them. He went at the autotuners all at once. Anyone who says “he says nothing clever and is just speeding it up” is straight up retarded.
“”He can make them look like bozos, He’s wonderin’ if he should spit this slow…Fuck no, go for broke….”
“Payback muthafucka for the way that you got at me
Hows it taste? when I slap the taste
Out of your mouth with the bass so loud that it shakes the place
I’m, hannibal lecter so just incase you was thinkin of savin face
You aint gonna have no face to save by the time I’m through with this place”
Both of those lines are directed at all 3 of these other dudes.

Oh, it’s for the record? My fault. Didn’t know we were putting this on record. I mean, you can think what you want, but fact is Em knew what he was doing. He knew what this song would be, and that’s why he went on it like he did. Agreed that he is jumping on this to build hype, but saying that is buzz is gone is absolutely hilarious.

Drake’s fake accent really gets to me. Why can’t he rap/sing in his normal voice? No one in Toronto talks like that and he didn’t sound like that on Degrassi.

Cause on Degrassi he was umm acting LOL and Toronto accents are all over the place because of so many different people it’s the most diverse big city in the world plus drake was raised in memphis too so that might contribute to the unorthodox accent but i here ya it is kinda strange at times but in a good way I think

That’s bullshit. I’ve been to Toronto, and black people up there don’t sound like that. They generally have very slight or sometimes heavy, Caribbean accents or no accent at all. They don’t speak like us over there. People in Tennessee don’t even sound like that. Watch some of Drake’s old interviews or even the recent one on BET and see for yourself how he really talks. It’s not a big deal… I just wish he would keep it real. He’s acting corny.

well yes there is alot of caribbean influences in the T dot accent but there’s a lot of other cultures that are in the mix as well. As for how “black people sound” I don’t know what that really means or has to do with Drake who’s half black a black father from memphis and half Jewish a white women from Canada so where exactly would you expect the caribbean accent to come from? i dunno I’m just sayin but like you said not a big deal what his accent sounds like so who gives a fuck as long as the kid can spit and like it or not you can’t tell me the kid can’t spit Just ask Wayne LOL I don’t half to repeat the rumors on the streets but wayne obviously likes the flow hell and maybe the accent too LOL
mertz Reply:
August 27th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
drake doesn’t have a fake accent. he has a multitude of accents actually. he’s american, he’s canadian, he grew up with caucasian people, and some black people. his accent, or whatever you hear of it is actually all over the place, and you don’t really need to see old interviews or anything to know that…just talk to the dude. when i first heard him recording i thought he was putting on airs or trying to front something because i didn’t know him to be of a certain way (and true talk the toronto rappers when they first heard of drake were saying same thing, he’s corny and all that), but the fact is that the dude has lots of different accents. it’s just that. i’m not carribean…i can put on a carribean accent…i have a candian accent, i have an african accent, sometimes i sound like i’m from the bronx cause i got family that way i talk to and i come visit. there isn’t a “toronto” accent actually. lol. it might not be the most diverse city in the world but it’s pretty diverse. oh and that degrassi part made me shake my head. the dude is an actor. i have friends on that show and they don’t sound the way they do on “degrassi”.

I think that would be a mistake Drakes hook brings the track together with out it is just sounds like monotonous rhyme after rhyme like an awful mix tape song or something. Now Drake can’t really sing well but he’s got a nice tone to his voice kinda like Rihanna who can’t really sing well either but for the same reasons they can kill a hook

I’m not a fan of Drake by a mile, but dude had the best verse. It’s like he’s the only person who paid attention to the bounce of the beat. It’s a club ’swag’ beat. His flow was way more on point than the others. Had way more swagger.
Em’s subject matter and flow didn’t fit this beat. It wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t fit IMO. He was simply trying too hard. A beat like this calls for some effortless, almost laidback boastful rhyming. Instead, Em’s rhyming like he’s been placed in a choke-hold and has to rhyme for his freedom.
Lil Wayne’s been wack. Ice cream? really? F*ck outta here! And Kanye’s been mediocre. He’s getting to the point where all his verses are starting to sound the same.
Just my $0.02

You noticed that too? I’ve been saying this about the new record…but it just remindes me of old Em. When he was doing press for relapse, you could hear it all in his voice and see it in his body and his eyes…and I don’t think I was the only one noticing that. It’s good when the dude is joking though. He must have always been a real serious guy for him to have that ingrained in him so much. I think it’s cause of how he grew up. I like that, but I also don’t think it’s to everyone’s taste. I hear a lot of, “He needs to lighten up, why is he always rapping about the same things, he’s too serious,” comments when it comes to MM.

Em’s not a diverse emcee. I understand why people like him, and I think he can rhyme. But he’s definitely not the GOAT IMO. In fact, nowhere close.
But that aside, Em was way too serious on this track. It was just off-putting. It’d be like hearing Jeru Tha Damaja or some shit. Jeru would probably ‘kill it’ in his own way, but this beat just isn’t suited for his subject matter and flow.

You guys are crazy…”em got too lyrical for this beat”.
Eminem is always put in lose-lose sitautions. He sells more albums if he uses the weird voice and makes fun of pop stars but he gets hated on by the backpack crowd when he goes this route.
Here, he absolutely murders Kanye, Lil Wayne and the mesiah, Drake, and you guys are trying to say he was “too lyrical”.
Bottom line, Eminem got on this track, destroyed all three of these dudes and reminded the world why he has been *overall*, the biggest rapper of the last decade if not of all time.

maybe you should direct your comment to someone else. i’m not talking about his lyrics necessairly. i have no problem with the dudes lyrics and i actually like how he flows. the problem with him (yeah i know it’s hard to say he has a problem because he’s so genius…rolls eyes. mm stan i am)is the way he flows to a beat. not all the beats he raps over are good for him/his “style” of rap. i know that he likes to chop up a beat and the way he writes he does lyrics then he reraps that around the music or he does vice versa and hears the tune and then raps to it, but like he was doing with this song he chops up the beat according to the way/weight of his words/lyrics and that style doesn’t go for every beat out there. like on this one he choppeed up maybe a one or two beat and chopped it up two times or more. like he has his own flow, which is fine, i’m all for it, but it doesn’t go with the beat, or the pocket of the song. it doesn’t rest there…i mean like how someone was saying that nas cannot write a hook…or a decent hook, the problem i’ve seen with eminem’s rapping over the years usually has to do with this same topic. sometimes the beat isn’t the best one for him. the cutoff lyrics don’t rest in the beat pocket…so as much as you would like to ride with the tempo or whatever rhythm it is, you can’t. it’s not one of his biggest faults for a long time but it’s one of the things i’ve always picked out about him so that’s why i’m usually interested in how an artist records, writes lyrics and picks the music. he doesn’t give much in terms oh himself in the recording process, but from what i’ve seen i’ll stick to the same opinion i had when i heard him for the first time years ago. he’s gotten better and i actually think it’s something he’s used to…like he’s so used to it he doesn’t want to break the pattern or that it’s taken him so far so he can’t change. sometimes he’s good at riding a beat and understanding all of the details of it, which just makes him even better. i mean for someone as obsessive and control freak as he is, you would think he would have picked this up already…and i assume he has because it’s blatantly obvious to anyone with an ear, and i just think he hasn’t changed it because it suits him.

I NEVER thought I’d see the day when so-called Hip Hop fans say the phrase “He was Too lyrical”!!!! When is someone too lyrical!?!? The problem with hip hop today is that rappers these days are generic and not lyrical enough. Today’s rappers say nothing. But Eminem was “too lyrical”?? So you would accept a song that says nothing…just a bunch of money/hoes/clothes rhymes?? People gotta stop being Zombies and start demanding some creativity…or a least lyricism.

Drake: Nothing remarkable. Him bragging. An OK effort.
Kanye West: A few good punchlines. Almost lost it a bit. The last line was a different perspective on the theme of the track. Good verse.
Lil Wayne: Eh. Question, how do you let Drake out do you on a verse? Doing too much as usual. I hate how he ends songs. “Ugh”. “Bye”(Swagger Like Us).
Eminem: NOT an Eminem fan AT ALL. BUT. I must say, “Eminem murdered you on your own $#!+.”
“You” as in Drake, Kanye, and especially Lil Wayne.
‘Nuff said.

Sick track man.. can’t wait to see the movie but anyway this is my 1-4 of who did the best on the song.
1. Drake (killed the whole song including the hook)
2. Kanye (kanye’s flow was ill on this one; its silmar to the one he had on run this town)
3. Em (I was feeling his verse but it didn’t impress me a lot)
4. Lil Wayne (solid verse but he didn’t go in imo)
Well that’s my imo… thanks mikey and miss info.. keep up the good work

I hope Drake took some notes down. I hope Wayne realizes what REAL lyricism sounds like. And I wish Kayne the best when he comes outta that closet (not that he’s wack). Eminem is a BEAST!!! After “Renegade”, i don’t know why a rapper would want Eminem featured on the same track? You know he’ll just out-rhyme you on your own song. Either way, at least this exposes what little talent you need to entertain these “hip hop” minds of today.

And what the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks is a “Swag beat”? And why are young people these days focused on this “swag” instead of actual skill? I need a young’n to answer me that cuz I don’t get it. And is it me, or does Drake and Kanye have the same flow? To me, Drake stole Kanye whole style…and “swag”…whatever that means.

I just heard the song for the umpteenth time and I can’t stress it enough. That is one cold ass white boy! He embarrased and exposed every one of these so-called “Greatest Rappers Ever”. This is the difference between a true seasoned MC, and a rapper thats hot. It happens everytime. These autotune bozos think they’re sooo lyrical until they get put in there place by a spitter with real rhyme cadences. They are not even worthy of Em’s presence, and he just toyed with these bums for 12 bars. And he did it Bone Thug style.

Em went in for sure then drake then Wanye then ye Ye sounded alittle lazy at first but YE’s lazy is everyone elses best ever most the time so it’s all good. I like Drakes tone on the hook I think that’s a keeper it would be a mistake to take him off the hook it brings it all together.

i understand that there’s such thing as a difference of opinion, but i’m starting to believe that some of you will just never be happy with anything. listening to this song, i don’t see how anyone came anything less than on point–this song is fuckin crack, plain and simple. and i don’t even like any of these dudes all that much.
drake surprised me with his presence and content in this song. i think this is the first time i’ve heard him spit something that actually sounded like it had some kind of personal thought and meaning in it.
people whine about kanye singing, so he starts rapping again and he “always sounds the same”
same thing with wayne, then people say he sounds like a lazy frog…well that’s pretty much the same voice he had on some of the tracks on carter 2, which most people seem to enjoy
then people say em fell off, but then he rips it like he did on this track and people cry because he’s “trying too hard?” fuck outta here with that shit, you just don’t want to admit he spit a dope verse that probably went miles over most peoples’ heads on the first listen.
besides drake’s assertion that “nothings ever been done for him” (i, personally, think he’s being given the game on a silver platter) this song is damn near as good as it could possibly get coming from these dudes, if you ask me. i’m anxious to hear this new mystery guest spot, but i wouldn’t change a damn thing about this song. regardless of what the “official” version will sound like, i’ll be keeping this one on my iphone for sure.

I agree with most of your statement people now a days are very nit picky about hip-hop always looking to tear something or someone down over miniscule non sense the song is great in my opinion I feel like the mystery guest will be Jay being that the song is for the soundtrack of Lebron’s up coming movie and well bron and Jay are like best friends so that’s my guess in my opinion wouldn’t be a bad thing at all although that would kinda be like rehashing the swagger like mine thing but ah well like I said why nit pick the song is dope I agree with you. Were I disagree is the drake comment I’m not gonna say I was early on the kid but I wasn’t as late as most these people I have been listening to a few of his mix tape stuff from canada now for the las couple years now “So Far Gone” in particular and there’s something there man the kids got some talent much more then most the young rappers now a days in his age bracket he might surprise you with some of his lyrical depth if you skip past what’s been on the radio I’m especially impressed with his selection of collaborators on So Far Gone a who’s who of great and up and coming indie bands like Peter Bjorn & John and Lykke Li that most hip-hop heads or esp rappers aren’t up on which shows that the kid listens to music he aint the greatest thing on earth like he’s being hyped these days but he’s still ill no need to knock em

Opinions are our right to have, but the overly critical and at many times bias analysis is silly. And if you can’t express views on an artist without making a racial or sexually charged insult then your words lose all creditability anyway.

This is no different that what I was accustomed to as a kid in school with posse cuts like 4,3,2,1, John Blaze or Fantastic Four. A lot of folk speaking on the beat and if its the right beat for an artist. This is really a product of the commercialization of the music.
I say that because as an mc your job was to destroy a beat and any other artist on it, REGARDLESS of if it fit you are not. Some MCs ride any beat with a passion like PAC and BIG…but some MCs are almost at war with the track seeing how much they can pack into each bar like Em and Big Pun. That adaptability is what makes and sometimes breaks true lyricists.

I really don’t enjoy any of his albums but as a lyricist, word for word, bar for bar Eminem is the Best ever. He is beyond any rapper I have ever heard and I’ve edging with this Hip Hop thing for a long time. Where do you stand on this Miss Info? Where would you put Marshall on your top 10 list?
