New Music: Drake feat. The Dream “Shut It Down” [Updated]
Mikey: Niice, Shake came through with a tagless version of the Drake x The Dream collabo. It’s not the official CDQ, but it’s finally listenable and suitable for a late Sunday afternoon.
UPDATE: Splash posted the updated CDQ with some newly added lyrics

I do like this track, but can see why it wasn’t his first single. Actually, think it needs some definite work. Sounds unfinished.

After listening to it again, I agree with you, Dream ruined the song. However I dont get what the hate is about, the song sounds exactly like some of his joints on his mixtape.

I told you this dude has no substance hahahah
Its crazy but I called this relationship album.. He’s LL’jr wow… There will be no real substance on his record just relationship tracks and party songs!!
What I find funny is how if 50 Cent sings on a record its treated as some major breech of hip hop decorum but Wayne can sing and not only sung but AUTO-TUNE sing the hook and its cool hahaha and drake can sing the entire track and its hot hahahaha
OoOo man lol

drake has never been a “shot 9 times” thug…nor is that an image he’s tried to sell.
so how can you compare him to 50 in that aspect?
and wayne does whatever is trending for that moment.
other than that, I definitely agree on the LL’ jr thing, that’s the exact vibe I get. No substance whatsoever

when was it against the law for “shot 9 times” thugs singing?
Did you not see the Motown movie?

I’m not sure how much being shot instantly disqualifies you from being able to add your best attempt at melody to a song.. Sounds a little far fetched way to say its ok to hate someone for nothing….
This ENTIRE Young Money movement is starting to look like an episode of Degrasi High or 90210 or maybe Hip Hop Clueless but thats just me!
They are pulling this shit off!!

@Big People clown 50 Cent for singing because he notoriously clowned Ja Rule for singing.

^drake can sing, because well….Drake CAN SING! lol. its not algebra genius? Plus Drake isn’t a self proclaimed gangster rapper like 50. What if instead of snorting an entire desk of coke and going out in a blaze of fiery glory, Tony Montana broke out into an autotune filled showtune? lol. It’s simple. Do what you say you do and dont do what you crucify other people for doing.
also. Drake is a visionary. I’m not really a huge fan of his music, but i see the brilliance of his plan. This track in particular is gonna have the ladies going ape shit. Hate him if u want…this man is a genius.

I LIKE THE BLOG. I JUST WISH ONE OF YOU JOURNALIST WOULD START GETTING SERIOUS INSTEAD OF BEING INDUSTRY.
GET THESE ARTISTS TO THE RIGHT THING. THEY ARE COMFORTABLE.
THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME HIP-HOP REPORTERS THAT WILL PUT THESE ARTISTS FEET TO THE FIRE.
IT SEEMS THAT EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT IS HOT. THEN THE PUBLIC HEARS IT AND THEY HATE IT.
SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. YOU ARE VERY TALENTED. TOO TALENTED. TO BE STUCK IN THIS RUT WHERE YOU DON’T GO HARD TO THESE LABELS AND ARTISTS.
THIS GENERATION SUCKS!!!!
BECAUSE THERE ARE NO Disciplinarians.
EVERBODY KISSING BUT; TO STAY IN A SAFE LANE!. STEP OUT THE SAFE LANE AND START REPORTING ON THESE SONGS THEY KEEP PUTTING OUT.
GET HUNGARY AGAIN!

How about you get a life?
And how does one person “GET HUNGARY AGAIN?”
Do you insist we go to war with Hungary or are you someone of the older generation who STILL does not know how to spell a six letter word?
Info just providing free music for your ass and what the fuck are you complaining about?
As of the music, the-Dream really is superfluous on this track and sort of ruins it. He should stick to producing and not singing.

I have a feeling that this album is going to be very similar to “so far so gone”. People might hate the RnB tracks he is putting out but when he puts it all together, it would be brilliant.

drake is taking too long to release his album. it feels like he already peaked. any time a artist is at their peak they suppose to drop a album or else they lose the public interest. he still got the peoples interest but the buzz is not as insane as it was months ago.

Sooo many people hate on this guy. Everybody need chill out with the hate. Personaly, I like the tracks he’s putting out. I like that he is able to do a hip hop joint and then turn around and do a r&b joint. His versatility is whats gonna keep him relevant. I don’t recall anyone haiting on Lauren Hill when she was doing both. As for the 50 Cent comparison, it’s not even the same. 50 sold an image to the general public that he was the hardest motherfucker out and that he puts our the “most agressive content”. Funny how things change. This nigga is overseas collaborating on techno joints. Didn’t he clown on artist before for making records that were outside the box or realm of hip hop? i.e. Kanye 808’s.

I agree that Lauryn was dope, and by no means am I saying that Drake is as talented as L. Earlier in this post someone was comparing 50 singin on hooks and songs to Drake singing on hooks and songs. I was just stating you can’t compare the two. 50 came in the game on some gangsta shit, where as Drake came in the game on some R&B/Hip Hop shit. As far as i’m concerned, Drake is doing him and staying in his lane where as 50 is switching up his style to appeal to the public.

how old are you Bside?
What music you think the “hardest motherfuckers out” in the 60s and 70s were listening to? Think about it for minute… I’ll leave you with this
Huey P. Newton, Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, Fred Hamptom, Malcolm X weren’t banging Public Enemy, X-Clan, Immortal Technique and Dead Prez in the 60s. Same logic applies to the gangsters on the west coast and the hustlers in Harlem and SouthSide Queens in the 70s.

I’m sorry, I don’t seem to quite comprehend your comment. What do any of the people you mention have anything to do with the statement I made that 50 sold an image of himself as being “the hardest” and “most aggressive” rapper out? You can’t sell that image and talk shit about every rapper that puts out R&B/Hip Hop joints and then turn around and do the same shit! As i’m sure you remenber, when 50 came in the game he dissed JA and called him pussy for putting out “soft” records. Eventually, didn’t he do the same thing? Best friend, Build You Up, Ayo Technology, Follow My Lead, Baby By Me and Do You Think About Me? Again, IMO Drake is doing him and not making records that contradict his image/persona.

The reason I mentioned those people is because you argued that you actually believed 50 was the “hardest motherfucker out/most aggressive” because he said it in a rhyme. Thats entertainment fam, why you think people compare rappers to the WWE wrestlers.
If I used your logic then Officer Ricky is the real Nickey Barnes(Mr. Untouchable) because he can dry snitch on himself about his connect being the real Noreaga and the feds won’t touch him.
The sport of hip-hop is to make your competition look like they fake/soft to earn respect, (industry wise, to sell records). People like your self associate melodies and singing hooks as being soft/not gangster and took lyrics 50 on face value… which is why I mentioned the 60s and 70s. A time before HipHop existed and yet there were powerful gangsters and grass root movements.

I don’t know if you didn’t read my post or if you took what I wrote out of context. I never once said that I belived 50 to be a gangter or to be a hard motherfucker. My actual statement was that he tried to sell that particular image of himself to the public. I also said that he would talk shit about rappers that made R&B records that he perceived to be soft. Furthermore, I never once said that “gangsters” or “hard motherfuckers” only listen to hip hop/rap. Peoples taste in music has nothing to do with their actual personality.

First of all S7
what does 50 cent have to do with
the 60s and 70s all the stuff about the “hardest motherfuckers” you were just talking about makes no sense and is totally irrelevent to the subject talked about above.
your stupidity is entertaining because what you say makes no sense.
and as for you “Orange of da good Diskrit” and “ron art” bhomo is talking about the genre they are in, not the quality of their work.
so all four of u please wake up and S my D
