It’s incredible to think it’s been 19 years since Common released his classic “I Used To Love H.E.R.,” but best believe the love-affair is still red hot. On the new J. Period-produced “The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.),” the Chicago poet picks up the pen to once again profess his love for hip-hop: “Women love the voice, brothers dig the lyrics/ This is hip-hop y’all, we thriving for the spirit.” The track comes courtesy of Period’s Rage Is Back mixtape (dropping Feb. 12), which celebrates Adam Mansbauch’s newly released novel of the same name, available now on Amazon.
