New Music: Big Boi debuts “Shutterbug” and previews Sir Lucious Leftfoot in NYC

(sorry, Mikey, I had to move the cute pic of Big and Minnie after the jump, and replace it with a different Big and Minnie pic, lol….Not exactly my best hair day, but it matters not, because Big Boi was dapper as always at tonite’s listener. Love the bracelets)

“I’m shittin on you n—asĀ and I’m peein on the seat“–Big Boi “ShutterBug” (the lead single from his upcoming album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty)
MissInfo: Tonite, LA Reid and the Def Jam team held a short listening session for Big Boi’s new “Shutterbug” single, and lucky for us, Mr. Patton played a few other treats off his upcoming album. I noticed that in the comments there was already disdain for the “autotune” but honestly, this song rang off in that room, and it didn’t feel like autotune, I liked the “vocoder” effect because it was more funky, more Roger Troutman than T-pain. I liked that Big Boi wasn’t namechecking denim lines, but propping his influences like the Underground Kingz, Geto Boys and even Wu-Tang. And it’s good to hear Scott Storch back on his grind.
Afterwards, Big Boi played his T.I.-duet “Tangerine,” and another song called “Hustle Blood,” produced by Lil’ Jon and featuring Jamie Foxx….which is jammy will definitely be some scripper’s feature dance soundtrack at Stroker’s this summer. But my favorite song was called “General Patton.” Bumpin’. Who else still does a mean on-beat off-beat almost abstract rap like Big Boi (and of course, his parter Andre)? Big Boi said “General Patton” was produced by his team (“Boomboom Room Productions, we blowin’ ounces everywhere we go…”)
And speaking of 3000, I can’t wait to hear that Big Boi duet next ; )
Lovely seeing Big Boi (one day, I’m gonna collect on that pitbull puppy debt he promised long ago), and of course Evie, Chris, Pec, Dwight, Gabe, Sav, Steve, Gabby, and the big guy, LA.

I LOVE the old school auto-tune like Roger Trottman did it used in this song it’s more creative. With that being said this is my least fave of the song leaks from Big Boi. I’ll still buy the album because of the other songs I heard.

I miss OutKast but I’ll give this an honest listen.
Not feeling “shutterbug” but I’m open to whatever else B.B has in store.

I dunno what you’re all complaining bout. On 1st listen this track is hard.
I’ve been anticipating this Big Boi album since Royal Flush came out in what ‘08? Everything from Big Boi solo has been great, bar maybe that Mary J Blige duet thing he did for Obama’s campaign.
And the ‘Autotune’ sounds nice to me.

This shit is funky. Some people just don’t get it. And Info I definitely got the same vibe as you.. didn’t view it as autotune but more as vocoder.. felt zapp & roger-esque… I’ve really liked all the songs I’ve heard so far.. Its shaping up to be a great album. You being a Big fan boosts your stock even more lol… not to mention you looking lovely in that picture.

Lesson for you little kids who know nothing… It’s not autotune, it’s a voicebox that Roger Troutman used. That is also at’s being used in this song. Joint bangs, good lyrics, funky ass beat. Seems like people’s ears are so warped, they don’t recognize good music anymore.

Some of y’all just don’t understand. Big is light years ahead of the rest; him and 3k have always been. Look book at their catalog. Shutterbugg is just another example of how futuristic they are. One of the last true MC’s.
