The first song of 50’s mixtape “50th Law of Power” (the book collaboration with Robert Greene comes out next week). (Big up to Thisis50 for the debut)

50, like Jay-Z, is arguably a better businessman than a rapper these days. However, while Jay-Z just releases music for the hell of it, 50 does it to start controversy.
He’s no villain, he’s a coward. Jay-Z is arrogant enough to release anything he wants and proclaim its greatness, but 50 thinks that he needs a synthetic, manufactured buzz to be relevant.
50 came through like hurricanes do, to let Jay-Z tell it, but like many hurricanes (Katrina excluded), it’s a lot of build-up and hype, only to fizzle out to a storm that hardly anyone remembers one week later.
The rap game is now The Weather Channel. Everything was all good just a week ago.

It seems to me, from the video at least, that the progression of people bothered 50. He’s also pointing out faulty images of people, that talk one way and represent a whole other way of being.
What made it funny is, he progressed himself.
He went from super hood dude attacking everyone to, hanging out with the star of Beaches.
He talks about getting high and he doesn’t even get high. That is funny style.
He talks about Jay looking like different, when he removed tattoos for HOLLYWOOD. Shaved down his teeth, because Cam drew a lot of attention to those joints with the Bugs Monkey comment. What did he do, changed up the grill.

I like it. While there are those who try to deny 50s talent and ability, in my opinion, whereas Nas is more of a poet, and Jay Z is more a wordsmith, 50 at his best is a great storyteller in the African-American griot tradition.

I like the thematic song, rmeinds me of the stuff that made him a star. Less of the club, “pop bottles, pop models” “ride in the lambo, gun got the ammo” more controversy.
That Jay-Z urkel ish is funny. Lots of jabs being thrown at Hov, but he is trending toward the Euro/Russel/Billionaire look. Say what you want, but diddy has been on Jay’s level financially, and you don’t see him dressed like that.
