Mikey: I’m excited to see this project finally hit the ‘Net. Earlier this month, I had the privilege of attending a press trip to LEP’s hometown of Chicago. It was my first trip to the Windy city, so I was pretty amped on just being over there. I honestly didn’t know what to expect but heard the Bogus Boys really know how to treat folks.
Upon arriving at Midday airport it became clear that the chatter was right. They had drivers pick us up take us to the swanky Swizzotel in the Downtown area of the city. After a overwhelming dinner at an old school Italian restaurant, that started with a Goodfellas style walk through the kitchen, we were brought to the main event: the Now or Neva listening at Red Kiva. Journalists from Complex, VIBE, Fakeshore Drive, RapRadar and Hit Boy, Statik and Green Lantern were also in the building as Moonie and Count proceeded to perform tracks from the tape. Even with their band being absent, due to traffic, the Bogus Boys put on an aggressive set that was engaging enough to bring excitement back to hip-hop music that focuses on subject matter we’ve heard for years in hip-hop. In other words these guys do street-hustler-rap the way it should be. Every crime tale they tell sounds like they just did that sh*t yesterday.
