New Music: Drake “9AM in Dallas” freestyle
Posted by Miss Info under good for hip hop , new music , things I like[75] Comments
Wow, something might have rubbed Drake the wrong way because he’s sounding a bit aggressive here, lol…..which is a win for fans.
“people ask how music is going I heard it pays, I just came off making 2 million in 30 days…”
“Until I lose for now I’m the game’s single leader, I fly private so nobody tells me to bring my seat up and book a suite where me and your favorite singer meet up. Who you like, tell me who it is, Imma make sure that woman is the next one on my list…without a response from me, you really fail to exist and I love to see you fail, that feeling is the s–t.”

It’s a fake accent he does for rap. I guess because he thinks people will judge him if he raps in his regular voice. It annoys the fuck out of me too. His lyrics are also questionable. “That nigga always kept it so hood” What would this guy know about “keeping it hood”? You remember when he made that “suwoo” song? I swear Drake is the corniest rapper ever, so fake.

TML album quality/critical acclaim will have no correlation with sales..
it WILL do numbers no matter what.. probly 700k at least 1st wk.
Really curious to hear what kind of songs are on the rest of the album… at this point a lot of ppl really dont know what to expect.

Another wack beat. I don’t know about this guy. Part of me thinks he’s better then the rest of the garbage out there and the other part thinks he’s wack. Its probably bc he’s reaching to find a zone that’s not him. When dude first came out and I never heard of him (1st time was on this site actually, possibly for Summerjam last year)I went to his Myspace page. NONE of the songs sound like what he’s doing today which leads me to think that he’s on the HGH of hip hop, Ghostwriters.

just because none of his old music sounds like his new stuff doesnt mean he has ghost writers. practice makes perfect, drake is a prime example of it, and he still has room for improvment (also his mixtape). go to mars with your corny opinions that dont even matter, and choke on dry air, whos your fav rapper wocka flocka? oj da juice box boy? #killyoself

Yeah Drake this is what we want lol. Na for real though he ripped this one up. I think needs to take that line back about not dissing rappers. It is about to be his time to shine. So you know the bullshit is going to come. Everybody can’t do that Jay-z approach “Like if i ever get dissed I’m never going to respond”. Which is lie within it self. Cause all Jay do these days is throw subliminals at niggas. Drake might have to take a couple rappers head off to prove himself. Not to say that he hasn’t but the world we are living in to today. Won’t let you just be happy doing what you love without scaring a couple muthafuckers.

Oh yeah i probably could knock his head clean off lol. But i don’t have a reason to do that. This man has never did a thing to me. This is about music nothing more , nothing less.

eminem did violate his over beat and he said.
“I come around like what goes around
what goes up must go down
anyone who goes up must go down”
Just pay attention to what he saying
he did respond to Rick Ross when he called him Honky
that’s what eminem said in freestyle.
“I’m the king of this.honky shit. Reined surpreme in this honky shit”

Pick any beat that fits the format he raps in and he will sound exactly the same as he did on the last joint. His ish is catchy, gets mad airplay and he getting money off it but he could never compare to artists’ to the likes of Jay-z, Nas and even J Cole.

I feel what your saying, but I think we should at least let his LP drop first. And as far as comparisons, it’s definitely not fair to place him in the same solar system as Jay & Nas. Now J. Cole, that’s his peer, and I actually think those two will kinda be the Jay & Nas of thier generation. Not in lyrical ability so much but what they’re going to represent in the Hip Hop world. Drake will be like Jay & appeal to a wide audience & get mad bread and endorsements (Sprite already!)and end up with some R&B chick, while J. Cole will just be nice and drop dope albums and be more connected with the purists.
my 2 cent.
Peace

For Drake to end up being like Jay, wouldn’t he have to have 11 #1 albums first? Jay puts that work in son. “Long term” work in. He also knows how to use an artists’ wave against them. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets tired of it too. You have to understand Jay had the option of adding this dude on the roster and turned it down. As for saying J Cole is the next Nas, I think if anything, J Cole reminds me alot more of Jay-Z back he was hungry. Just listen to his verse on a “Star is born”, tell me which Drake verse f#cks with that.

well the 1st #1 album is about to drop soon…lol. But seriously, you have to realize, that Jay really did give these dudes the blueprint. They don’t have to pay the dues that Hov had to pay, those days unfortunately are over. It seems to get easier as the generations pass. I mean for all the dues Jay paid, it’s nothing compared to the ones that came before him. As far as Jay having a chance to get Drake, all I can say to that is, he already has the real Kanye West. Also I never said J. Cole is the next Nas, what I said is that his fan perception is going to be similar to that of Nas because he’s already more of the purists favorite between the two and he seem to be more about his craft than the lights & cameras. Oh yeah I do know that J. Cole is nice….lol…neither 1 of these cats is really on my radar though………I just like talking Hip Hop.

But for reall why can’t you all just appreciate talent and flow for what it is and forget for a second if the rapper has hood affiliations or not. I once lived in the hood and you can print this F***k the hood. If all your so called rappers wanted to remain hoodlums and hood for the rest of their lives ask yourself why they signed a record deal and not just relegated themselves to singing and rapping dope lines on the corner with his “dope-selling” posse.
Get it ? They all wanna get out of the hood, so they shoot hoops, slang rap or hit the books hard with wall street dreams. Like I said earlier, fuck the hood and don’t forget what happened to gorgeous gangster, rockstar stack of far rock.
Drake is the nicest rapper out there now. Live with it and if you are a hater like he said kill yourself. ( Forgive me Jesus for that- but i can vent too)

it seems to me Drake is getting the Kobe treatment and J Cole is getting the early A.I. treatment. I’m too tired to break it all the way down but to sum it up, Kobe got hated on b/c he was clean cut, became successful really fast, wasn’t too aggressive etc etc… the “streets” loved A.I. cause he was more of the edgier underdog between the two. End of the day: Kobe > AI and Drake > J Cole

He never came out talking wreckless though so can’t no one use that against him. He went to college, got wiser and got in the game. Drake dropped out of high school @ 17. Yall need to stop sleeping on J Cole. If only he had a machine as big as YMCMB behind him. You can tell there’s someone, somewhere @ that Roc Nation label holding him back. Southern labels will get on talent and exploit it until there’s no more left. Not the same in the east!

Ok so I read thru the comments and seems like more people like Drake than what I thought. But then again who knows if it isn’t just interns at Universal posting to make the hype seem even more legit. My beef with him is ill start with his:
1. Flow is horrible, as in sonically he’s off and way too nasal. The forced accent also kills me, I think drake would be cool but I don’t like the cocky yet to really prove anything pop rapper.
2. I’m also 300% universal and YM are paying radio stations for spins, because there’s no freaking way they play his songs THAT much what would cause that??? If his hype were equivalent to the “demand” on the radio then he should be on his 3rd platinum album.
3. His style is as if he were narrarating a journey in rap, like think about it, he doesn’t just rap but makes it a corny oddessy he’s on, so after this album what will his sound be like???
4. Jadakiss is dissing him and DJ Drama subliminally on boss of all bosses and champ prt 3 if you listen closely. “I won’t say you nice till I see longevity”
5. With an artist like drake who does nothing forhimself (atleast kanye was original and a great producer) once the shows over and hell get tired of the game quick and hell be irrelevant within 4 yrs tops. I don’t see how he can grow as a hiphop artist or what topics he can cover pst what he already has.
6. Why does he have to be hot for NOT being hood, afterall this is hiphop music and it doesn’t require you to be gangsta but its a type of music like soft rock isn’t considered rock and roll…… w.e I’m done some will feel me tho I KNOW I can’t be the only one….
