Here’s the first video clip of N.E.R.D’s performance, more to come…

Thank you to the good ppl over at Cornerstone for inviting me to their second annual event with Smirnoff to celebrate old-school, new-school, true-school artists in hip hop. If you remember, last year, I covered the great collabos with Common and Just Blaze, Q-tip and Cool n Dre, and KRS-One and DJ Premier. They created new and good music, and then performed said music for a happy crowd in a great venue.

This year’s event featured Buckshot’s comeback performance (after being hospitalized last week for seizures!), as well as Grandmaster Flash, N.E.R.D and Nas. It was hosted by Sway and all the performers did a great job…The venue was huge and fancy, lighting was lovely, and I even saw mini-eggrolls being passed….but at times I kind of felt like a rag doll**…

More footage of N.E.R.D as well as an explanation from me….after the jump

**This time around, the venue was much bigger, but much less accomodating. There was an upstairs VIP, and then an upstairs backroom VI-VIP. But you couldnt see the stage from either. Then there was a side of stage, also with no view of stage, and then a curtained-off section of the side of stage….you get the idea. And you gotta love the b-list rapper who weren’t even in the show, but just had to have their half-man/half-orc bodyguards hustle them thru a narrow balconies, shoving little people out of the way just to get to that exclusive backroom where you can’t see or hear anything but at least you have a loaded cheese platter. (don’t mind me and lil’ Wendy, we’ll just hang off this railing until you and that 90’s West Coast rapper can get to that gouda)

Just had to vent…

Lucky Mike Fresh and my homie Yu Ming were posted up downstairs with a good view of the show…
