Nas ordered to pay Kelis $44k a month…more than Diddy or 50 Cent

The day after Kelis gives birth to Knight Jones, a judge orders Nas to pay some hefty child and spousal support…
The Associated Press reports:
A judge [Judge Louis Meisinger] has ordered Nas to pay Kelis nearly $44,000 in monthly support for the near future…
The two have been sparring over support payments for several months, with Kelis contending that Nas hasn’t paid many of the costs of her pregnancy and her expenses. Nas’ attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the judge that the rapper has paid some expenses and the former couple’s health insurance has been maintained.
Kaplan proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing.
Meisinger rejected that offer, saying more money per month would be needed to accommodate Kelis’ lifestyle and was warranted based on income declarations filed with the court.
Note: this report seems to say that this is a preliminary ruling, but it probably doesn’t help that Nas was reportedly less than proactive after Kelis’ early filings. Also, the state of Cali is the “she took half” state, right? The fact that Kelis and Nas were married seems like it’s also a big factor, as opposed to Diddy vs. Kim Porter’s alleged $20k ruling, and 50 Cent vs Shaniqua’s $6,700 a month ruling.

If Kelis was just some groupie who got pregnant by a rapper i’d understand why Nas’ financial support would be vital at this point in her life.
I mean are finances so bad that she just can’t be happy with her recent birth? Nas should be their to support his family yes but she’s acting like she’s broke which she isn’t she’s sold quite a bit of records.

I do not think that is fair that he would have to pay her that much money, but I still think that if he had done the right thing by his child and on his own provided some kind of reasonable support he would not have been hit up for as much as he did because I know the judge was like ok you do not want to pay anything well look at how much I am going to make you pay. But one thing I am lost about this is why is part of the reason he has to pay so much because she wants to get a nurse to be with Knight, well what happened to just being a mom to your child instead of someone having to help out, with that kind of money each month you would be a good stay at home mom.

People you don’t understand child support. The gist of it is, the child should live in the same manner as it would if the father was in the home. If Nas can blow the kinda money he does on his personal grooming and his living arrangements, his child should have the same because it is the FATHER’S job to provide these things, according to the LAW. And since they were MARRIED, Kelis is entitled to spousal support. Since she was not working she was in effect, a housewife, a helpmeet (get ya’lls Bibles out for that word). Basically he abandoned his LEGAL REPONSIBILITIES (wife and child). The judge is just corrected the error on Nas’s part.

to 40 and those posts, Nas has been preaching about his kid for a while, I’m sure hes moer excited than anyone to have a son. Nas loved K, so he amrried her and was prob trying to have a son, but then shit got all fucked up (this is of course what it seems from the outside, NONE OF US KNOW FOR SURE). So it wasn’t a “mistake” just unfortunate.
Anyone remembner when she was asking for that much so she could get a 20k baby crib, even though she got 3 at her baby party. She wants to continue her lifestyle, and will do so now that she gets support. The amount should be based on more for th kid thant he spousals “living standards” especailly since she’s been living in NAS’ HOUSE AND EVERYTHING KEPT UP BY HIS MONEY.
She’s greedy, but wait and see how she spends it, that’s when we’ll know how much she cares for the kid, and how muc she cares about herself.

Yall need to understand this might not be fair. But this happens all the time. How many of friends you know have 3/4 of there pay check taken away cause of child support? If Nas was really on his shit she would have never filed at all. It a bond you and your girl/wife should have. Woman know that is a death blow for a man.
