When you purchase Nas’ Life Is Good next Tuesday, the closing song titled “Bye Baby” features the Queens MC opening up about his ex-wife Kelis. The smooth closer on the standard edition, produced by Salaam Remi and Noah “40″ Shebib, has Nas in classic storytelling mode as he breaks down their ups and down from the day he first saw her during the Star Trak/Pharrell days, getting married, to their messy break-up ending in divorce.
“No matter who you f**k, that was before me
Wanted you as my shorty since before I saw you screamin’
Hate you so much right now, should’ve saw the man in angry black women….ashes of a demon – I’m leaving.”
Stream Nas’ letter to Kelis after the jump…..

very nice track.
they were a really great couple, it’s a shame they couldn’t make it work.
ether her? did you listen to the song? he actually painted a great picture of her and their relationship. only thing i could see her being upset about is what he said about her Father.

Anyone who has ever felt the loss of a marriage by unfortunate divorce can relate to this song. This song speaks of a man that still loves his ex wife, but unfortunately had to move on and be better. Leaving a marriage when you love someone, but it just doesn’t work is the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life yet and Nas painted a perfect positive picture of his experience. Forget hip hop this is what music is made of where you can draw emotion right out of the song. I have heard 6 songs from this project and everything I liked so far, but this song? I would have bought the album off this song alone. Life is Good is going to be undeniably Nas’ best project since Illmatic. Thought provoking and real you can tell he took his time on this project. I’m proud to be a Nas fan. WORD!
