Nardwuar vs. Ghostface Killah (Video)
Posted by Mr.North under Interviews , Things I Love , Videos[13] Comments
Nardwuar caught up with Ghostface Killah during the Vancouver stop of his recent Canadian cross-country tour. During their 12-min talk, “The Human Serviette” asks Toney Starks about his upbringing of soul music, love for samples, appearing on Arsenio Hall and much more goodies. Nardwuar delivers yet another classic guerilla-style interview.

ok, watching this video made me realize one of the things (out of many) that’s wrong with hip-hop these days. niggas don’t have ill and distinct voices no more. like, i could listen to GFK talk all day just on the strength of the illness of his voice and the way he says shit.
some of these other cats though? not so much…

some? or you’re talking 99% of them?
Voice is a HUGE part of rap. Part of it is natural talent and the other part is honing it.
Just as it takes years to learn how to sing, it takes YEARS to learn how to rap really well and let your vocals ‘sing’.
so when I criticize these microwave-rap n!ggas, and cats say I’m a hater/stuck in the past, etc, they have no idea where I’m coming from.

yeah, you’re right. 99% of ’em.

yeah but this isnt his best work..usually he ties the gift to the person personally but he seems disorganized and not on point… i love when the gifts paint a personal picture…

rick ross, gucci, wiz, wayne, jeezy, tyler, flocka, cudi
voices are still distinctive in hip-hop.

only one out that list @yo prince is wiz,im talking about a voice no one can try to be like or like when u talk to them its like they have their own thing 100 percent and was the SAME PERSON from 7 years ago imma have to throw joe budden in their too hes his own person

yeah this is the first time I haven’t seen him pull out a vinyl or some form of hip-hop memorabilia to symbolize the artist from then till present (which is usually his closing question). Maybe last minute interview with starks off his tour; who knows.
Love Nardwuar interviews though he’s unique and a hip hop historian; trust me its never because hes lazy you can tell he premeditates most if not all his interviews. I will agree to disagree though; this one was missing some of his usual main ingredients.
