If you listen to some old Salsoul or Gamble and Huff for example, the sonics in the mixes of those records are light years ahead of what comes out now. You had strings, horns, and all the other instruments coming at you from different channels and vocals so cripsy you could hear them breathing. Now everything is mixed to the middle so it’s all cluttered. Because things are mixed from ProTools sounds aren’t separated properly anymore, There is no comparision. Plus you were listening to music that was mixed from 2 inch tape then. Now everything is from Protools.

Love on the Big Mike video. His first album was amazing.
