Movie clip: Diddy, Jonah Hill, & Russell Brand in Get Him to the Greek

Obviously I want to see this Judd Apatow movie, Get Him To the Greek, because Apatow feat. Jonah Hill, Russell Brand sounds like a sure thing. But I see why Vultureblog is skeptical about the hyping of Diddy’s funny. The problem with a Diddy cameo is that you never for even a second get to see past Diddy’s Diddyness. So whatever the role is…its Precious based on the Diddy by Diddy. Or Othello in a three-part Diddy as interpreted by Diddy.
That doesn’t automatically delete laugh factor…Apatow did well with Eminem’s cameo in Funny People, and Todd Phillips won (and then overmilked) Mike Tyson’s cameo in The Hangover….but in both of those cases, “the diddy-personality” played himself in the movie.
That said….the Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ song playing in the background is funnier than Puff, Jonah and Russell combined.

I must say, that clip was pretty hilarious. I totally understand the concept of the Diddyness, but it seems like they made it work. Well, at least for this clip. I’m sold.

Diddy is going to be hilarious in Get Him to The Greek. His character Sergio certainly paves a new opening for Diddy on the big screen. Diddy’s character Sergio is bipolar, crazy, scary, and might just be one of the funniest acting portrayals that we’ve seen from Diddy yet!

What a fantastic continuance of Apatow’s comedic success. Jonah Hill and Russel Brand go together like fish and chips but the stand-out performer turned out to be Sean “Diddy” Colmes. Although it was probably not a large stretch for him to play a tough music producer, his subtle comedy is what truly brought a lot of laughs to the audience. Brand paid excellent tribute to the rock and roll icons that have since lost their lifestyle edge and Jonah Hill was a fantastic foil to his character. Jason Segel’s writing talent was very strong in the film as it was very exciting and funny to see the storyline unfold, no matter how simple the story seemed. This is amongst some of the best comedies I have seen in the last few years.
