Mos Def: Outraged Voice of Reason……more, please

Love Mos Def’s rant about the ongoing Steroid-Gate in Sports. Especially the part about “saving the needle.” In my dream world, I’d have a segment on MissInfoTV called “And That’s What Really Grinds My Gears” with guest grinders like Mos Def…..and Tracy Morgan….and Prodigy.
Hmmm……I gotta work on that. (adds to neverending list)

I don’t mind poeple taking steroids if they know what they are doing , I mean you can’t just take steroids like that you need a medical check every week and many other pills to counter the differents effect of the steroids . They should do something about kids that take that without caring about the negative effect of the steroids more than the guys in sport .

Haha I love this dude! It’s true though, I mean at the end of the day if everybody you’re competing with week in week out is taking them what choice do you have? Unless you try and stand up and make a point…and very soon become irrelevant. I was actually chatting to this dude in my gym last week about Dwayne Chambers (UK sprinter, caught out a few yrs ago, in case you dont know) and being that he (gym guy) used to run at that sorta level not long ago and is still involved with peole currently at that level he was absolutely adamant that 98% (or more) of these top class sprinters are juicing, it’s only like 1-2% that get caught. Take rugby union, I KNOW a guy (lol, through another guy) who supplies a PROFFESSIONAL side-that I won’t name- with steroids, but in the last decade I haven’t heard of one positive test/drug scandal within rugby…and tbh such scandals would ruin the sport making every world class player a suspect etc – just as it is doing to these sprint athletes. So again, the debate is do we forget it and let it slide (like Mos Def feels, lol he’s a legend) or do we TRY and crack down knowing that there are top scientists around the world getting paid ALOT to make steroids less and less detectable, thus always keeping one step ahead. Damn that’s a long post, my bad! I need my own segment!

10 Cheating in professional sports is like snitching in the underworld.
20 If you’ve played organized sports, then you know what I’m talking about; if not, goto line 10.

[...] Posted by Des on March 14, 2008 Tell ‘em why you mad, Mos! You might think that the coverage of steroid usage in the MLB on the news is getting out of hand but Mos Def says enough for us all (in a pretty high pitched voice). Spotted at Miss Info’s blog. [...]

cont’d from #6:
On top of that, baseball is a multibillion dollar business. It doesn’t matter what the activity is. If $$ is at stake you best believe it’ll be high priority.
