More legal battles between Nas and Kelis

sigh…TMZ reports:
“Kelis claims Nas raked in $11 million for his album deal. Nas fired back in legal papers, “I did not receive even half that amount”… claiming it’s more like $4 mil. Nas claims his income is declining, and he’s only pulling in $147,165 a month.
As for what he spends … $71,371.96 a month, which includes $10,000 a month in clothing/hair/toiletries/personal effects.
Kelis, who is about to give birth to their child, claims Nas hasn’t paid a penny for child or spousal support since he left her. Nas, who says he wants to be “fully involved” in the parenting of their child, claims he’s agreed to pay $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two cribs.
Nas thinks $5,000 a month is reasonable for child support since the kid will just be a newborn.”
Kelis is due any day now….I hope these two, who were once very much in love, find middle ground so they can focus on being happy about the new addition.

You really in your heart of hearts believe these two were “once very much in love”? To me(and yes, I am sitting here in NH, so wtf do I know?) it seems like she is greedy as fuck and expects that after only 3 years of marriage she is owed the world. From what I have read and what you have posted here, it appears as though he is prepared to take care of his baby, just not necessarily take care of her. Now, I ain’t saying she’s a gold digger, but…

I think it’s so sad when 2 people that work so hard to establish something could destroy it in less time than it took 2 make it. Knowing what u have is good is sometimes so hard 2 C especially when u have the wrong things surrounding U. Good luck 2 both n child may god b their source.

I think a lot of people on this website doesn’t understand that to us 5k is what some of us don’t see in a month, yet these are celebrities. These people live and have become accustomed to living lavish lifestyles. Im not saying that nas should take care of her…yet come on this is the mother of his first son..5k isn’t covering someone to be on call to watch over lil nasir if kelis decides that she wants to get her career back on top and esco aint sittin at home while she does that..all im sayin is be fair nas be fair

Who cares if she is used to living a certain way, she isn’t owed shit. I don’t recall her being around for his first handful of albums, why should she reap the benefits just b/c she was married to dude for a few years?
I think he needs to take care of that baby and that is it. She can use that milkshake of hers to support whatever lifestyle she grew accustomed too these past few years.
She should have known better, she married a dude who sang, “My money, money, money, my bitch is my money”

She definitely knew what she was getting into when she got into it. I wish to God my son’s father was giving up even a quarter of what he offered. I mean damn some people just dont know when they got it good. Yes she is accustomed to it but lets be real She know how to make that money flow just like he do. I dont hear his first baby mother screaming she want half.

I am confident that they will reach a fair resolution.
I recommend, counseling from Russell and Kimora…There are…I think 3 children that need both of their love.
Try to minimize on attorney’s fees by sitting down and haveing a face 2 face and discuss long-term finances.
I’ve never been in such a position but can imagine the emotions, etc. getting in the way. LOVE THE KIDS!! Agree to disagree until baby is born? The womb can sense all of this? I WISH U ALL THE BEST AND LOOK FORWARD 2 SEEING YOU BOTH LOOKING BACK AND LAUGHING AT IT ALL. Kelis income is not $0.00..by a looong stretch.

Everyone is saying 5k is enough, but really its not. Especially living in NYC. This nigga got money! He can def give his kid more. Besides he should be paying Kelis for pain and suffering also. He was the one who cheated.

Everyone is gonna scream that type of bull but what it all balls down to is “ole girl” have her own money remember she is “Bossy” Lol. be serious. Kelis is far from being broke. True he need to take care of his baby but at the same time 5000 a month for a baby. I live in NY, 5000 will take care of me and my 3 sons and I will have some money left over please one child… They both got money no one is gonna really have any pain and suffering behind it all but the baby because of the separation and the child needing both parents for that emotional bond.
Dont make this out to be about her pain. It goes both ways.

5K enough or not, I don’t care but money doesn’t raise chidren, it helps sure, but u could give all the money u want but if ur not here for the 1rst day at school, for birthdays,to celebrate diver’s licence, 1rst day at university…. any children could feel an emotional lack anyway

Again, why is she entitled to anything other than child support? This sets a bad precedent if a gal(or a guy for that matter) only needs to married to a dude for 3 years in order to be entitled to so much for the rest of her life.

I have never cared for Kelis and I also believe Nas is tight with tho dough children or not. Had to be taken to court for CHILD support. That being said I don’t believe Kelis went into this marraige as a Golddigger. I believe she truly loved him. One of the main purposes of the civil union of marraige is a financial safety net. If you’re just a baby mama I agree child support is enough cuz nobody told your azz to go have a baby with a commitment from that man. But when a man marries you and THEN you start a family while putting your career on hold and then that man BREAKS that commitment YOU ARE entitled to more than just child support. PERIOD. Thats the entire reason the alimony laws came into effect. If he wasn’t prepared to support his wife and child he shoud not have go married simple as that. It wasn’t her that punked out of the marraige it was him. With THAT being said I agree with whoever said part of this is definatley a woman scorned.

Really? The last thing that will cross my mind when I put a ring on a girls finger will be “a financial safety net” I’ll get married because I love her, not with the hopes of being taken care of financially. In Kelis’s case, nobody asked her to put her career on hold, she hasn’t even had the baby yet. Also, there are plenty of “working mothers” out there, this isn’t 1950. The TMZ article stated she wanted 3500.00 a month for a nanny, to me this doesn’t sound as though she plans on staying home full time and putting shit on hold.

You missed the civil union part. I said purpose of the civil unions not the reasons for marraige.Just because there are plenty of working mothers out there doesn’t mean all women should be.Matter of fact how many of them do you think would be working if they didn’t have to? i am a woman and beleive me I did not want to hand my precious infant to a babysitter for the majority of the day Monday thru Friday. Its a choice and those types of things should be discussed and hopefully they were. I couldn’t say. He didn’t hold up his end of the fidelity bargain so what he gets to just walk away paying a pittace (relative to his wealth) for diapers and shit? You are missing the lifetime commitment that he broke part. If you want to be able to just walk away after you stray and get caught you should not get married.

If he released all of those albums on Koch and got $7 an album, maybe.
But he didn’t do a Glow in the Dark or I Am Music or Up in Smoke Tour, and I know that Rock the Bells doesn’t pay that type of paper.
Damn, I knew I should have been a rapper in the 90’s instead of being a college student.
