Last night, there were alot of rumors of a brawl involving Jim Jones at Detroit’s Club Esko….
There were rumors that a gang of people rushed the stage, beat up Jim Jones, shot 3 people, including one of Jim’s friends and a woman partygoer. (twitter accounts posted after the jump)
Well this week me and DJ Envy are covering for a vacationing Ciph and Rosenberg on the morning show, so I asked Jim Jones about last night’s drama directly….
Jim Jones speaks on the altercation at Club Esko in Detroit
Here’s a link to the Detroit news report which infers that one of the shooting victims was local artist, Trick Trick.
“Detroit police said 2 people were injured in a shooting at a Detroit nightclub early Monday morning.
Ten men rushed the Esko Lounge on Michigan Avenue near Shelby Street, according to Detroit police. The men got into a fight with rapper Jim Jones and shots were fired.
Two men were hit, including a man police identified as…rapper Trick-Trick, whose real name is Christian Mathis…
Local 4 confirmed Mathis was taken to the emergency room at Detroit Receiving Hospital. He is in serious condition. The other man’s condition is unknown.
Police are looking for the gunman.”
UPDATE:
Thank you to the sharp-eyed readers like Kaoz who sent over this report from Detroit’s Mojo 955….Trick Trick denying that he was shot last night.
“We called Trick-Trick, he was NOT shot. In fact, we woke him up and talked to him in bed. He denied rumors that he fell victim to gun shots, nor was it his brother. The rappers mother called WDIV-TV asking them to stop running the story.”

Funny how they are saying two men got shot, but friends said they saw a FEMALE get shot in the back of her leg. Funny how people love posting stories before substantiating EVERYTHING, including the local channel 4 news, who got the story WRONG by trying so hastily to be the FIRST to run the coverage.

Im starting to believe that all the blogging and radio reports on this type of nonsense may in fact be perpetuating the violence in the streets. Not to mention the FEDS are monitoring the hell out of twitter, just like they do the blogs, myspace, youtube, etc. Info, what are your thoughts? hmm. there is def too much violence….but thats a slippery slope to start blaming the reporting of an action, for the action. That’s when you start getting into the same territory as blaming the music for the action. The action is done by people. They are motivated by many reasons. Some of those reasons may include infamy, media perception, public image….but they can not be blamed on the coverage of similar actions.

I was one of the people who sent the links to MIss Info last night aftert the shit popped off. I never implicated Trick Trick or said Capo got whipped. I said it looked like somebody outta Jones camp was involved in a melee and then shots rang out. I never saw Trick bleeding or saw Jim beat up. All I said is I saw a bitch get shot in the ass. Channel 4 news doesn’t report bullshit, so I think the report about Trick gettin shot could be accurate.

But if the mayor’s spokesman says that at the scene of the altercation the shooting victim named Christian Mathis told them that he was Trick Trick…and if the Detroit Free Press, a reputable newspaper, reports: “Police confirmed Monday that the rapper known as Trick Trick was shot in the thigh at a nightclub early Monday in downtown Detroit despite his denials on the radio that he was involved in a shooting.”

I was by the back door of the club. i seen errything. the guys wearing all black came through the back door like 20 of them, shit a few of them had shotguns nd shit. they went str8 for jims booth nd started shooting and throwin shit. fucken get the story str8. one 2 girls were shot and a guy. the girl got shot in the leg it looked like the other girl died.

Jimmy Jones has a lot of haters. They all want to see the Dipset Capo fall.Like they always say success is the best form of revenge.
Jimmy regardless of what may or may have not happened in the D will still continue to do shows, hit the clubs and ball regardless of whose feelings get hurt.

Yes, Trick did get shot at Club Esko on Sunday. He’s denying what happened because, with his reputation, he knows that admitting to being shot will be percieved in the streets (and the e-streets) as him an L for the first time his “goon career” (funny because, at one point, getting shot used to increase one’s “street cred”).
Yes, Jim Jones did get jumped, bullets flew in the direction of his niggas as well.
What I’m not getting is, there is supposed to be green-light on out-of-town rappers who dont fuck with Detroit rappers, but Jones & Dipset BEEN heavy in The D. Jones did a song with Icewood, which is one of the biggest records ever in the streets of The D. Before it was even “cool” to shout out Detroit shit (like Atlanta is doing now), on Diplomatic Immunity they was shouting-out Street Lordz and all that.
I dunno, maybe it was retribution from Cam shouting out every city except The D on his midwest joint lol.
Either way, I usually dont mind out-of-town rappers who get washed up in the city, but this here was petty, espcially since gunplay was involved.

…..I guess this is a lil off topic but I just got bacc from an extended weekend in Ausitn.(missed NY so much) Anyway while listening to the local stations, Jim Jones got ZERO play over a 4-5 day period. Kid Cudi got HEAVY rotation but they cut Jim’s verse out. In spite of the hype is Jones really just a “local” NY artist? I’m just curious cuz it was such a contrast.
