It’s a swagger epidemic…
1) There was the hipster anthem “Paper Planes” by MIA and Diplo.
2) That got sampled on “Swagger Like Us” for T.I. Jay-Z Kanye West and Weezy.
3) Jay-Z then records “SLU part 2″ for his album with Andre 3000, Nas and Young Jeezy on the beat.
4) Then Lowkey reported there’ll be a “Swagger Like Us” (the R&B version) by Chris Brown, Tpain, Usher, and Neyo. (just stop)
Now, I’m hearing that Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne have recorded yet another version….
The hook goes: “All these other rappers jack swagger from us.” LOL.
And it seems this song, “Swaggerjack from Us” will be on Jim Jones’ solo album, which drops right in the thick of things, on Dec 9th.
(so, uh….is Weezy mad at Wayne? or is it the other way around? ; )
I’m gonna try to swaggerjack myself a snippet….

i hear this word 100’s of times a day, and it still makes me cringe everytime i hear it. they say it in all the popular rap songs. i hear little children use it in their daily vocabulary. well, BOB is here to tell you people that enough is ENOUGH! and NO, it doesnt matter whether you say it with an “A” at the end, or an “ER”. the word has MEANING and HISTORY, and should not be used all willy-nilly!
its out of control, and we as black folks have to stop using the word completely. thats right, no more “SWAGGER” or “SWAGGA” or “SWAG” or any other variation of this word! its getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous. once upon a time the word “swagger” meant something. it was the highest honor to pay someone. it meant you had style, and stood above the rest. now? every nigga with a pair of sagging jeans, designer shades, $500 sneakers, or Louis/Gucci monograms claim to have it. you dont have “swag” because you paid a $2000 to dress like ur favorite rapper.

talked with my barista and got info on the stumptown for you. there is already a stumptown serving cafe in chelsea called 9th street cafe or maybe chelsea market. he said it should be pretty easy to find!

This is the kind of shit that makes me wanna stop listening to hip-hop. I’m so sick of the word “swagger.” Last night on VH-1, while I was being appalled by the top 100, I hear Tour-Gay exclaim re: Lil’ Wayne: “This kid’s swagger is unstoppable!!!” with unbridled girlish glee. It made me want to slash my own throat – seriously. They need to find a new word ASAP, and it’s amazing to think that Jim Jones feels no guilt or remorse for bringing the bedazzler to the hood… a bandana over a hat is a true metaphor for the state of the game right now, excessive, stupid and pointless.

First off…all these remixes seem like they will be tight…..but what I really wanna go in on are hip hop words that are invented as a word first and defined later. Example! Plies- Bust It Baby. If I see another girl on her myspace page talkin about she is somebody’s bust it baby I’ma bust her head, baby…to me thats a dumb word, even though the song is raw ( and isn’t Plies the worst rapper of all time but makes some of the best songs? Weird).
I digress….my point was basically to cosign missinfo in her swagger/swaggerjack use annoyance.

Paper Planes is now considered the “hipster anthem”..that’s pretty funny…painfully ironic..but still pretty funny considering MIA and Diplo are getting $$ off an album cut. I can only hope some hip hop exec/dj decides to give Tricky some burn so everyone can call his music “hipster rap”..
Rappers must laugh themselves all the way to the proverbial bank at people who actually take them, and their antics, serious — Hip Hop = A True Performing Art. This is coming from an orginal 87 tek 9 head. Actually investing part-time money to get a tape recorder that actually flipped the tape automatically for those Stretch & Bob sessions you had no business staying up for..

So lemme get this straight…
For the third time in 3 years, Jim Jones is building another promotional campaign/marketing scheme based around kinda stealing stuff from Jay-Z.
To wit:
1- “Ballin’” which bit lines from Jay-Z, a guy he was feuding with.
2- “Harlem’s American Gangster” a project everyone ignored that came about in response/blatantly bit from Jay-Z’s own “American Gangster” album.
3- This current “SLU” fuckery.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jim Jones is an insipid foreskin pimple on the donger of hip-hop. Only a guy (a group of guys if you count Juelz “Look at my dimples!” Santana and Weezy F. “Marshall Shakur 2008″ Baby) that was functionally retarded would claim to have been “swaggerjacked” when he obviously stole his whole look not from the streets of Harlem, but a fucking X-Games tournament.

I don’t get you people- “i’m mad at this word”, “i’m dying because of it” – come on, if you don’t like then just ignore it. Swag is swag if you have it and you like to boast then you will do this. If you prefer that thinking hiphop, that 90’s the listen to that, stop comparing mainstream hiphop to what it was back in the days. Today is today. If you hate commercial hiphop that is done not to promote anything except the artist and his need to earn money than leave it. There is plenty of rappers who are different and not shown in the medias, but y’all lazy and you just listen to what is given to you on a plate. I remember that in the 90’s to have rap music to listen to i had to try hard, coz in the medias i just got rock and pop. So now it’s the same if you want original and diffrent hiphop you have to try and look. I’ll give you a hint: new Termanology album – it’s real, it’s good. And then the swagger of jimmy – first time ever that i have seen skulls, skull chains and LV scarfs was when Jim and Juelz started to wear them, now skulls are the most used symbols on clothing all over the world, even Hov started to wear scarfs. HOW THE FUCK YOU CAN SAY THAT JIM HAS NO SWAGGER? WHOLE WORLD IS COPYING HIS STYLE GODDAMNED!

whats even worse than everyone jumping on this song and making swagger or swag a part of my “most hated words” list along with maverick, is that most people really don’t realize how long paper planes has been out. M.I.A. has been on the shelves for a while now. so if you’re going to jump on the bandwagon and request any one of the versions to be played on the radio please don’t call and say things like ” can i get the remix, the one without TI, the one with just the chick singing, its cool how he let her hop on his song like that”.. ughhhhhhhhh a tangent yes but i had to vent after hearing that.
