Miss Info Exclusive: “Hip Hop Monologues: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones”
Posted by Miss Info under Uncategorized[46] Comments
Scenes from tonite’s Jim Jones theatrical debut of “Hip Hop Monologues,” featuring songs off his upcoming album. Appearances by Dr. Ben Chavis, etc. And it was a veritable who’s who in the audience (the Real, Kimmy O, Lowkey, YN, DVS, BFred, Angie Mar, etc) . I couldn’t be in the house because we was busy raising money for a good cause with Todd James and Kaws and more, but I’ll def be there tomorrow. I heard it was great. Well played, Jomo.
(UPDATED: longer video with Jimmy and his son at the end)
(Footage compiled by young Mike Fresh, the missinfo.tv boy wonder, lol. Kindly remember where you saw it first : )
love the Playbill for the show, by the way….very cute.

That’s the state rap is in nowadays. That we pretend shit like this and Maino and “A-rab Money” is hot. Cus there’s nothing else available, so instead of admitting that we’re getting let down, we convince ourselves that it’s good.

I though back in 2001 we voted to shutdown the Hip Hopera movement?
Miss Info, you remember Carmen: A Hip Hopera? Beyonce almost ended her career before it got going.

Not a fan of Jim’s but I watched and wanted to give it a chance.Mixed views on it personally. It seems more like an over the top concert or live album performance then a musical but perhaps I need to see it in person to get the full vibe.
I would like seeing a Common, Kanye or a Mos Def try doing something like this.
(but then Jones would just say how everyone is stealing his swag right?)

I was just watching Jimmy on youtube on ‘Dipset In London’ and wow he’s really come a long way. He’s done so well and even though I don’t like everything he’s done or all of his music he’s unique and has really achieved a lot. Who would have predicted Jim Jones to be doing as well as he is? Can’t wait for the album it should be really good.

t rogers is a clown, all of his arguments are wrong
the points hes making about jones/dipset are invalid and he sounds like he doesnt know what hes talking about. hes saying jim just started claiming it now that hes rich (not true) and was saying stuff like ‘whats a purple city blood?’…. which is obviously stupid because dipset doesnt claim ‘purple city blood’, and only one of the three original members of purple city claims to be blood (un kasa)
basically, he sounds like a confused old man, calling eastcoasters/dipset confused, fake bloods

The idea of this is cute, but lets be real. I kind of feel bad for Jimmy his attempt to reach for another “balling” is kind of sick. He jacked Ron for his own song. Jim just make up with Max have him write your songs and call it a day.
Why can’t people just take their careers for what they are. Jim Jones should be proud that he started as a hype man and had some great singles.

i gave jim props for grinding and doing whatever he can to keep himself relevant(mixtape appearances, features, this play, the role on crash, the single that’s gaining spins, etc)
t rogers said jim wasn’t reppin blood until after he got famous? wrong
t rogers said purple city is a fake blood gang, wrong, only un kasa reps blood
how is stating that proving your point?
t rogers needs to go back to eating cereal on his mom’s porch and leave the dvds and youtubes to someone else

That shit look gay as fuck…jus through the little clips of jimz acting u can tell he has no talent as an actor, and i could go out on a limb and say he has no talent as a rapper…I don’t even understand why hip hop embraces this nigga, whn hes open claimed that he’s not a rapper (a lyrical artist), but a hustler (basically a nigga trying to get paid off wht ever…fake clothes, drugs, white tees)…nigga corny, boooo.

I saw it last night, and the it was good! He should hurry up and put it out. The show was strictly professional and perfectly acted and performed. It should get picked up for a full run and released to DVD.

1st up shout out to the abpsn, the noi and nge!! Jim Jones I commend you making a transition from making questionable music to expressing yourself in other means of art. Homie continue to move forward as a man and do better for our people. Secondly,I support the street organization abpsn and as someone born into this nation what my og t rodgers was trying to state in the video clip is based on his experience in abpsn and openly airing out what a lot of bloods have been saying for a minute. Get away from the gang and get back into organizing our communities for improvement. 360
