If water was the cure on his breakout projects The Water[s] and Wave[s], then love is at the heart of Mick Jenkins’ The Healing Component. “We see hate all around us these days,” says the Chicago rapper of his official debut album. “We’re on a quest for love.” The 15-track project features collaborations with BADBADNOTGOOD, Noname and theMIND, set to a backdrop of wavy beats from the likes of Sango, KAYTRANADA and THEMpeople. The rhymes ain’t bad, either.

The Healing Component is out now on iTunes.
