Mick Jenkins is one of the best (and most slept-on) lyricists in the game right now, and he’s coming back with a new album to prove it. The water-sipping wordsmith has announced that his new LP, Pieces of a Man, is dropping this fall and will boast “big collaborators on production” and “big names on the feature side,” including Corinne Bailey Rae.

Because lyrical acrobatics shouldn’t be done without properly warming up, Mick Jenkins flexes his pen on the album’s first single, “Bruce Banner.” And yes, he morphs into Hulk on this one. “I got the fire, n*gga / Heard Soul album and I knew that I inspired n*ggas / Greatly, Alex Haley at the root of it all / My quest for love just wasn’t suit for y’all / And my black thoughts won’t be muted or diluted in water, can’t be polluted at all.” No wonder he thinks only Kendrick can see him on the mic.

Pieces of a Man follows up Mick’s 2016 album The Healing Component.
