Remember when Timbaland told us he was producing a new posthumous Michael Jackson? And remember when you raised your eyebrow and said, “yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it”? Well, Epic Records has not only confirmed the project, but announced the release date and cover art.

Continue after the jump…

The eight-track album — which will serve as only the second posthumous collection of unreleased MJ material following 2010’s Michael — is called XSCAPE and will arrive on May 13. The LP is being executive produced by Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid who was granted unlimited access to Jackson’s archives spanning four decades.

Production comes from Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain, who aimed to “contemporize” the original recordings while “retaining Jackson’s essence and integrity.” The deluxe edition of the album will include a selection of MJ’s recordings in their original, untouched form.

XSCAPE will be available to pre-order on iTunes from April 1.
