Watch: Unreleased Ma$e & Kanye West Interview From 1998

Earlier, The Creative Control team earlier released the latest episode from Cousin Bang’s show and tonight here’s another gem. This footage dates back to 1998, specifically Jermaine Dupri’s birthday party in Atlanta. In the clip, Coodie catches up with Ma$e and the Harlem World crew. He speaks on the rumors of Brandy being his girlfriend among other things. After intro’s from the Harlem World crew, popping out from the side is a young (and unknown) Kanye West who takes over the moment by shouting out his people and city of Chicago.
For those not in the know, one of Kanye’s first major album placements was on Harlem World’s 1998 album The Movement, which was released under Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label. ‘Ye and Murda Ma$e would go on to work years later on the “Jesus Walks” and “Welcome Back” remixes in 2004, and recently “Higher” off G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer compilation album that dropped last month.

This wasn’t unreleased, It was here on Public Access tv on a show hosted by Coodie named Channel Zero. I remember when this originally ran and Loon was showing high praise for the young unknown.

Tell em, North! Mase also gave Just Blaze and the Neptunes one of their earliest on record nods. Amazing how a) a lot of people don’t know that and b) Mase was at least instrumental in providing the soundtrack to the good portion of hip hop music over the last decade.
Funny how the business works like that, eh?
