UPDATED: Mase bumrushes Diddy on live radio and gets him to sign release papers? Not exactly…

Mase Makes Puff Release Him In The Middle of V103’s Ryan Cameron Show from shudduptv on Vimeo.
Wow. This seemed so easy it’s almost unbelievable. Atlanta blogger K.I.M. of Shuddup.com (spotted on GyantUnplugged) got the scoop on Mase going up to the Ryan Cameron show in Atlanta while Diddy and Dirty Money were there….Mase brought some sort of paperwork with him, and actually got Puff to sign them right there…purportedly releasing Mase from his Bad Boy contract. The same contract that Puff wanted 2 million dollars for during Mase’ brief stint with G-unit? No matter what the situation, live radio or not, I’m surprised to see Puff sign anything without a lawyer looking over his shoulder with a microscope. Very interesting. But Mase certainly looks like a happy happy camper. Mase and Diddy resolved alot of their issues recently, and I guess the above video also explains this tweet.
UPDATE: Ok, so my insider tells me….that signature wasn’t on a contract release form…it was basically an appearance release form. Basically, Diddy is allowing Mase to appear on songs with other artists. He is not freeing Mase from his contractual obligations to Bad Boy.
But this is a start, because Mase already has a big feature in the works, as well as a potential home at Interscope…..which would work out well in terms of those old contractual obligations because Diddy is already over at Interscope as well.
See how that would all fit together? Synergy, lol ; )

You know puff got that under the table money from mase to release him from his contract with bad boy. Puff was just gonna give him to Arista before he moved to Interscope, but Mase had to buy his way out of his contract off the books. That way puff can keep all the money, instead of breaking bread with Arista. It looks like puff is just releasing him, but you know that boy puff don’t do nothing without the dough. He don’t care about what you think, he care about debits to his account. It looks good on film though.

I know very little about the way the music industry works BUT I wonder exactly how much puffy makes off keeping these people locked in for so long..No one succeeds on Bad Boy they make rent money for a few years and move to Atlanta to find a cheap house…Sad! Shit Loon looks like Bin Laden…
Mase as much as we love him has no value in music today… He’s corny! Not one comeback verse I heard yet has been official.. He needs to become apart of a movement to make an impact the Camron thing looks good but only if he reunites with Dipset and make it a big Harlem thing..
Otherwise where does this all go?

I’m looking at other sites reporting this story, and I love the way they are tryna spin it like mase caught puff off-guard with paperwork in hand to release him. For one, if you think Puff would have gone for that shit, you dumber than a nail. If you think puff would sign papers not coming from his legal team, than you really just retarded… Puff had Mase meet him up there to sign the papers. Puff brought the papers (thru his advisors) for Mase to sign. People always wanna make it look like somebody punkin somebody, but if anybody got punked it was Mase. Ya’ll ain’t hear puff throw the teaser out there. He said “Mase gotta slick tongue”. Ya’ll better act like ya’ll know about that relationship. They definitely part of that HUSH orginization.

Actually you’re incorrect, Puff didn’t have him meet him or bring the papers, it was as stated Mase just popped up with the papers in hand, I have the actual footage of the WHOLE thing, what you saw was edited. to make it shorter.
Puff was definitely caught off guard.

What I don’t understand is why do people still try and get deals with him? I mean Diddy is a good business man (for himself and investors interest) but as an artist why would you go to someone that has basically kills all careers of those that worked with or for him. Can anyone name 1 artist that had a great relationship with Bad Boy from start to finish. I mean artist are even inking book deals just to talk about how bad Diddy is. Wow

You mean to tell me that Puff is the only hip hop music exec that is industry rule #4080? How come I seem to always hear former Bad Boy recording artists making public demands about Puff? How come no one does that to Lyor Cohen, LA Reid, Jimmy Iovine, Doug Morris, etc? Puff is the only one with the funny contracts? Actually if Puff just signed the paperwork without even looking at it then I would be more concerned that Puff is sort of losing his business savvy. He went from asking Fif for 2 million for Ma$e to signing papers on a radio show? It reeks of a stunt to boost both of their profiles. Ma$e gets to say how contractually he was somewhat unable to create music and became disillusional with the business and Puff gets to look like the bigger man in releasing Betha to go elsewhere and record. It seems like there is a slow resurrection of former Bad Boy artist (Ma$e & Shyne) with personal issues with Puff. No one at the radio station thought to ask Puff about Shyne mentioning to Rolling Stone that he has not spoken to Puff contrary to what Combs has said? Now would that same stunt worked if it happened in NYC instead of ATL?

I agree, other execs have shady contracts as well. The reason why people call Puff out if because he is a public figure. He has a rep to uphold, Lyor, Kevin Liles, Jimmy, Doug Morris, etc don’t. If they screw someone over, it’s just coming from a business guy.

**UPDATE**
Perfect way for Ma$e to build his brand back up and show everyone that he is just as relevant as he was before. I actually would have more faith of Ma$e and Cam making better music than Jim and Juelz. Perfect time for Ma$e to squash the tension with Fab and link up. He and 50 never had issue so that musical link up would be interesting. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ma$e didn’t start doing music with former BBoy artists. You can best believe that he is gonna start jumping on the R&B remixes and try to show everyone how he use to do it. Still hard for me to believe that Puff didn’t know that Ma$e wasn’t coming. How hard would it be for Puff and Ma$e to cook up the stunt and pull it off? Puff is an actor nowadays so what everyone saw at the station could have been a performance.

look at it this way you would figure all these black record/production company imprints owners would do right by the artist and not keep the tradition of fcuking them over black folk have always been getting screwed in this industry and it would behoove people like puff to be the change that the industry needs

@Longwinded
The reason the do that to Diddy is because they couldn’t even get a meeting with those other guys! They feel since Diddy comes from the same backround that they can go public. You best believe artist signed to those other execs been done just as dirty…..if not dirtier!

Ever notice how people always leave Bad Boy with a bad taste in their mouth? I’ve also noticed how Bad Boy hasn’t put out a solid hip hop act in years. It just seems like Bad Boy, Roc-A-Fella, Shady, G-Unit and other big labels have signed all this great talent only to drop them or shelf their projects. Meanwhile, all these no talent bubble gum ringtone rappers are putting out music like double cheeseburgers. I know I got a bit off topic but I don’t understand all this label politics?

Aha, now everything is making sense. Diddy is a smooth mofo. When it comes to his money. I mean HIS money. The money that goes to him, he ain’t slip yet. His artist have slipped bad, but he hasn’t. The only decision I can’t agree with is picking up that girl who isn’t Dawn in his Dirty Money group. She is uggo.

But she was cheap. And stupid enough to sign a “diddy-contract” fully equipped with a chaufeur that she’s going to eventually pay for, no publshing, and no royalties. He signs people who display a “weakness.”
Shyne – Had a lot to prove
Ma$e – Speech impediment, no legal know-how, and greedy (hence the move to pastor)
Loon – Have you seen him after his Muslim conversion?
The list goes on.

that new group he has, dirty money?!?! wtf. thats a joke.
MASE had to show up unannounced to get him to sign some papers over a career that should of ended a while ago.
What I dont understand is, why are are people even paying attention to puff or badboy?
Dude is a snake. and hasn’t made anything solid since 1995.
He needs to take his money and go to some island and chill out.[take those dipset kool-aid drinkin' dorks with him] Raise his kids. and get the fuck off the TV and Radio.

Kind of a waste if you ask me, does anyone care about Mase anymore?
i mean his best shot was when he was fucking with G Unit, bringing back that Murda Mase shit, he had some buzz, he did the mixtape with Whoo Kid and shit, he did his thing on the GRODT soundtrack, “I Dont Know Officer”, but now does anyone really care about him anymore? Mabye he starts fucking with guys like Drake and Wayne and shit, but think its a little too late.

Maybe it’s because I’m not from Harlem, but I really don’t see any need for Mase to come back. Dude was good in his heyday, but that was a decade ago. Plus, this is the same guy that rapped over a “Welcome Back, Carter” beat, talkin bout how he “lives la vida without the loco”…only to come back as “Pastor Murda”….are you serious?!?! And people were having problems with Ross’ street cred…

Moral of the story: Have ur lawyer read your contracts and don’t sign with Puff. PERIOD.
