Man vs. Myth?: Jeezy gets Black Mafia Family’s Big Meech on the phone for “The Real BMF” (Updated)

Rick Ross’ song (feat. Styles P) “BMF (Blowin’ Money Fast)” is the hottest song on the street right now…and off the street too, if you notice how many people tweet nerdy variations of the song’s catchy hook, “I think I’m Big Meech, Larry Hoover. Whippin’ work. Hallelujah.”
But between the airplay, the performace at Atlanta’s Birthday Bash, and the 1200 different behind-the-scenes clips from the “BMF” video shoot with Diddy and Khaled….
out comes this song from Jeezy called “The Real BMF,” featuring a phone call from Black Mafia Family’s Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, who is serving 30 years in federal prison for running the $250-million BMF drug empire.
New Music: Jeezy feat. Big Meech “The Real BMF” (thanks to DJ Folk!)
Hmm.
Bet there’s an interesting dialogue going on under the surface here…
Read the update and more,
after the jump….
In the past, it was necessary for Jeezy to downplay his longtime relationship with The Black Mafia Family, especially during their high-profile court case. But now, with Rick Ross’ glamorizing the hood mythology of BMF, do you think Jeezy feels some kind of way? Seems like the answer is right there in the words “the” and “real.”
Wonder if anyone will get Larry Hoover back on the horn….
Two sidenotes: Real-life druglord Freeway Ricky Ross is currently suing Rawse for claiming his name (which may explain Rawse’ new nickname Ricky Rozay). And after “Hustling” dropped, there were grumblings from an alleged Escobar Jr. Meanwhile, Ross has added Gucci Mane to the album version of “MC Hammer.”
UPDATE: the homie Young!/Onsmash tweeted this statement from Big Meech, which seemingly ends the question about how Meech feels about Ross’s “BMF” namedrop:
Download: Jeezy feat. Big Meech “The Real BMF”
Previously:
Diddy, Rick Ross and DJ Khaled shoot “BMF”: stunting, boasting, gold teef, and Cassie!
Rick Ross and Duke Da God: Rawse wants Kool-Aid to get money, and other moments of profundity
New Videos: Rick Ross x Diddy “B.M.F.” karaoke, plus Gucci Mane and Jim Jones

While I dont think its so much about ROSS as it is the use of BMF’s name as you stated. Ross has had NO PROBLEM shoutin’ out street affiliations regards of if there’s a real connection or not.
Jeezy’s move is done ALL THE TIME. How often do cats downplay Blood ties on one hand then big up every damu on each coast on Hood DVDs or in concert?
Everyone keeps it real when its most advantageous to them.
June 26th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
BMF/Jeezy>>>>>BMF/Ross
The Jeezy version is too too gangsta…maybe too much so for this rap bull $hit. The difference is apparent: While Ross “thinks he’s Big Meech”(imagining) the real Meech “is.” You can’t deny Ross’ ability to pick hot beats, but he is far from gangsta. The beat on the Jeezy BMF knocks.
June 26th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
I think we need 2 school heads on da perols of da game also. It’s tellin that Meech has to call from prison. Love da song but #imjustsaying.
June 26th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
yeah!!!!! more adulation of guys who sell poison to the community so they can pop bottles in the club.
let me get off my high horse
I think ross version is better
June 26th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
I agree with you Info “sigh”this is fuckery!!! Couldcare less…
BUT… Lets change topics…. After listening to Eminem album I cant help but feel sorry for Drake lol
I was thinking what song should he do at the BET Awards and while I know he gone do “Wont Back Down” because he’s pushing that as the next single…Someone needs to text dude and suggest that he do “Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna” because that will blow everything away for the rest of the year and put her career back on track!! and if he can talk her into allowing Chris Brown come out on stage while shes doing the hook before the first verse and lip sing it to her and finish with a kiss or a hug that would be DUMB!! And make world news for the next few weeks like him with Elton John at the Grammy awards…
Some how through all that went down that we really dont know much about I feel like those two dont hate each other no matter how hard and cold she is! Would be a good look and great moment because its a great great song!!! Either that song or WTP would be a good look to do at the award show….
Fuck BMF and Summer Jam no show Jeezy!!!
June 26th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
If Jeezy was a real nigga, he would hav went in on this fake ex-co… U kno Meech ain’t feelin that fake dude using his name, fuck Jeezy n William now… Cant respect pose to be street niggas acceptin this fat fake…. They wonder why niggs on bootleggin so hard, nobody goin to pay for these fakers music
June 26th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
@ Miss Info
Tell me why the industry you’re in keeps co-signing this fake fat fraud Officer Ricky. That’s why the game sucks. Look at this clown puffy co-sign this fat f*ck. The nigga can pick a hot beat but damn. Somebody got to ride with 50 and put this sh*t to bed. Hip hop is suppose to be authentic but as Banks said. “They let imposters walk around now”.
I hope Jeezy & the real Big Meech calling the nigga out because frnakly I’m sick of Officer Ricky getting an extension from the industry.
Miss Info I hope you’re not riding with this fake fraud!
That’s why I like 50 and respect Drake & Kanye. Them niggas are authentic.
Jeezy will probably bow down and say this isn’t a diss to Officer Ricky so Khaled and Greg Street will play his records.
June 26th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
“hottest song on the streets”… my ass
niggas aint bumpin that in my hood
drop n flop already
June 26th, 2010 at 4:41 pm
you sure? bc its playing in all the mix shows…and its reportedly charting on urban radio
June 26th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
If you listen, sounds like Big Meech is more aggy about it than anything. Probably told Jeezy to make a “real” anthem.
Big Meech hearing the Ross song was probably similar to CB4 when Gusto was in jail when he first heard “Straight Outta Locash”.
June 26th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
Yeah I agree.
June 26th, 2010 at 6:15 pm
I don’t believe this song has anything to do with Rick Ross’s joint. Rick’s song is a song of homage to some of America’s notorious Black Gangsters/Drug Kingpins….
I respectfully say…. Stop it Miss Info.
June 26th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
rick ross blow money fast is one of the hottest songs out right now. its undeniable. everybody know he is the biggest fraud in hip hop, for some reason he gets a pass from everybody though.
June 26th, 2010 at 7:00 pm
[miss info] why you editn posts???? Let the people speak……………..
June 26th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
well thank you for politely disagreeing
June 26th, 2010 at 10:57 pm
I agree with you….i wouldnt be surprised if Meech was the one who wanted to make the point
June 26th, 2010 at 11:08 pm
Rick Ross/BMF>>>>>Jeezy BMF
The production and the lyrics go way harder on Ricky’s BMF!!! Okay, okay, I know everyone wanna say Ross doesn’t know Big Meech but how often do emcees live through mafia figures, ball players or actors in movies?? Truth is, it’s still hip-hop music and its still an emcee exaggerating something they either have or do… At the end of the day, its entertainment, its music, emcees wouldn’t be in the game if they were real life gang leaders or drug kingpins! When it comes to both “records,” Ross’ is one of the hottest(if not the hottest) record on the streets right now!!
June 26th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
he certainly doesnt seem “authentic” as a street hustler, and I guess that’s already been well-documented. But he’s an “authentic” music artists I guess, in that….he does make music and rap…and doesn’t suck at it. But I understand the frustration with that.
June 26th, 2010 at 11:35 pm
LOL I knew this was gonna happen. You know what else is gonna happen? He gonna get hurt mark my words.
This dude stay implying that he connected. He done claimed every click except the one he’s apart of. He is apart of the biggest gang in the world! Can yall guess what gang that is……? I don’t know about “hottest in the streets” info. Everybody slapping jeezy, wack ass gucci mane, and local shit. We don’t play officer rap in the bay. I aint no gangsta, d boy or a thug. But I know hella people who are. I just can’t get into impostors and wannabes.
on topic:
this shit slaps and it’s the truth. This that t.m 101 jeezy.
June 26th, 2010 at 11:45 pm
The difference is that when those rappers do it it’s an exaggeration. The thing is that they at least lived some part of their exaggeration. Or know certain people for real and they exaggerate it.
Never before in the history of hip hop have we had somebody who used to be “officer of the law” talking gangsta. Ross aint even from the hood lol he lived in the burbs of Miami and had good jobs all his life.
stop trying to make excuses for officer raws.
June 27th, 2010 at 12:04 am
Ross BMF is the hottest shit out. The Jeezy song is decent. Dont know why people speculating on Ross’ authenticity, seeing as the people who could discredit dude havent said a damn thing. Either way, I live my life through myself, Ross’s shit is just a soundtrack. If I feel like Meech in the club, poppin bottles thats how I feel, Ross put into words.
SMH at Ross makin Jeezy pay homage to his homey because he may have. No hate though, Jeezy is still that dude too.
June 27th, 2010 at 12:04 am
it was obviously a sign of admiration but you know once niggaz get together, take a couple pulls, and start talkin’ amongst themselves they get emotional and extra possesive and pickey over lil shit.
but its good to see jeezy just put it to music instead of goin to a radio station n doin the whole Beanie Sigel thing lol
that shit is really tired
June 27th, 2010 at 12:43 am
officer Ricky is so fraud cmon man if you a fan I’m not knocking u just don’t be in denial, a he does is glorify the lives of men whom he as a c.o helped keep behind bars… What part of the game is that? If I had his ghost writers and his a&rs aka people who actually select his beats I could do his job, you could do his job, Ms.Info can do his job! I don’t see why everyone condones this nonsense he is so GUSTO it ain’t funny
June 27th, 2010 at 12:49 am
Who’s to say these emcees lived some part of their exaggeration?? Nobody truly knows what these rappers did in the past? Any rapper wants fans to believe that what they are saying is true but why would they be in the hip-hop game if they were really killing people and drug trafficking? If that was the case, damn near the whole rap game would be in the streets 24/7, not rapping behind a mic or acting in a movie?? It’s hilarious that if an emcee had a normal upbringing or a regular job, that people feel like they lose “credibility” as an emcee? If that’s the case, would you say Eminem, Kanye, Jadakiss, or Nas can’t flow because their not gangsters or drug kingpins? At the end of the day, when it comes to hip-hop music it boils down to lyrics, production, and an emcee’s flow! With that being said,
on topic:
ROSS/BMF>Jeezy BMF… Ross’ production is better, hook is way better, and flow is sickening right now! Why do you think 50 has damn near disappeared from the game??
“Mafia Music?”
June 27th, 2010 at 2:20 am
I’m getting tired of people pretending to know what’s real or not. Do i have to be a Killa or drug dealer to do rap music? Seriously the man was a CO for 2 years. so what? He didn’t destroyed our communities by feeding it with poison. If i say on a record for example, that I’m a killer. Does it mean that I really kill someone? In a studio one will emulate a character (dark, bright, or stupid) but, he doesn’t mean that they are those people. Christopher Wallace will become The notorious BIG or Frank White and say stuff like raping someone mother or whatever. It’s called music and just like “The Scarface” movie it’s not real. Deployed right now in Iraq, I know who are the real Killers and it’s not Rick Ross, 50 cent or Lloyd Banks. People should know the difference between music and reality. It’s not that serious and somehow some people will lose their life over it. Pitiful!
And the ” real Rick Ross” suing him over his name is ridiculous. Does it know his case won’t survive a day in a court room?
he never sold a CD in his life and people don’t buy Rick Ross’ Cd because of his name but only for the music. Does he know that if he wins, he will set up a bunch of precedents? the real 50 cent family could end up suing 50 cent for using also his name. To be honest i think 50 cent put him up to this non sense. Definetly a sucker move. To Lloyd Banks saying that they let imposter in the rap game, why don’t you grab a riffle and joint me in the front line so we could do this killing thing for real? we need a “real” soldier like you. Just enjoy the music, the beat and live your life.
June 27th, 2010 at 3:23 am
this isn’t a diss. it’s just a statement. this record was going to come out regardless of Ross’s B.M.F. record.
there were ppl who were discrediting jeezy’s connection with BMF, even some idiots going so far as to say Meech didn’t really eff with Jeezy. Jeezy has been itching to clear that shit up… at the same time, he needed to wait for the best moment to do so, both legally and professionally… and now is the time.
as far as Ross.. a lot of people are speaking on stuff they don’t know about. one comment above says Ross is from the ‘burbs, that’s not true.
Ross is a street dude. Is he a kingpin? No. But Ross is affiliated. Actually, there are similarities btw Ross and Jeezy. Ross also ran with a crew that has recently been shut down by law enforcement. He also, at this time, cannot be too vocal about his involvement with that crew. Court documents show that said crew, the Boobie Boys Gang, had police and other ‘government employees’ on their payroll.
Do the math.
I fux with Ross b/c he made a shrewd decision to lie about being a CO, b/c lying effectively deaded all further questions, and he couldn’t afford to go down that path of questioning both for his own career and b/c there was a very real case pending at the time of one Kenneth Williams when the whole CO situation blew up. Though it may have hurt his cred, it was THE prudent decision.
sure, the ‘officer ricky’ stuff is hilarious. it led to some awesome photoshop moments, and one of 50’s better diss songs in Tia Told Me, plus a great michael jackson sample. everything, however, cannot be taken at face value.
jeezy is really spittin’ on this joint btw. that line, something like, ‘all we want for christmas is another year.’ dope.
ross’s B.M.F. is bangin too, but it’s more of an anthem-like record. love that he put styles p on there out of left field.
June 27th, 2010 at 4:59 am
its funny how ross fake ass got the hotter song. i feel your pain jeezy but the song is kinda weak.
rappers need to stop duck sickin these hustlers if they not affiliated with them, not just ricky. thats why “gangter rap” or whatever u want to call it, aint sellin. we dont believe u cats no more. cant tell the real dudes from the fake anymore.
this shit is depressing. ima go listen to drake punk “blue steal” look givin ass. at least his sissy shit is real.
June 27th, 2010 at 5:13 am
“Man vs. Myth” Genius just genius.
June 27th, 2010 at 9:58 am
Its just funny as Info spotted out how much of an effort Jeezy made to separate himself from BMF when the heat was coming down but can so easily do this for the sake of “Hip Hop Street Cred.”
June 27th, 2010 at 11:33 am
I get so tired of the, “he isn’t killin our communities” line. Rick Ross is so far from believable know it’s pathetic. Let’s not act like good music always prevails and that’s the reason. Rick Ross has the machine behind him selling us this fake ass persona. He is no more believable than Justin Beiber holding a rachet spitting gangster rap lyrics. Please knock it off. People would not be as supportive if one of Will Smith’s kids came out with a cd talking about living in the hood selling drugs and smokin weed, because we know all of that is a lie. Rick…I’m sorry William is no different. Me personally I think Jeezy’s BMF goes hard. Radio doesn’t sell records only singles and spins. That Lose my mind and Hard in the paint, hardest shit in the streets!!!
June 27th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
Just saw the tracklisting on Teflon Don album….n I’m sorry but 14 features on 11 TRACKS?!?!?
if Ross was really the “HOTTEST” out right now, then why does he reallyyy need to make a song/album with HIGH profiled features on it???
compare Ross’s past album feature n 50’s n you’ll see how 50 can still run on his own steam(which has sorta fade) as opposed to Ross!
just a thought
yall think about that!
June 27th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
#preach
June 27th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
SMDH
Ya niggas need to leave Ross alone B. The nigga make good music. Point blank period. So what if straight out of high school they nigga tried being a C.O out? Probably had family it friends that were trying to put him to a legit gig with benefits an all that.
THE REAL REASON REAL NIGGAS LIKE ME GIVE OFFICER RICKY A PASS IS BECAUSE, THE DUDE THAT OFFICIALLY EXPOSED HIM AS BEING A C.O IS NOW DEAD AN GONE MURDERED IN MIAMI!!!!
For a REAL NIGGA like me from the streets? That alone speaks VOLUMES whether or not OFFICER RICKY WAS INVOLVED or NOT. Haven’t ya noticed ever since duke was killed niggas been respecting Ross way more in the industry, showing him love an respect? Wise up computer thugs.
Wico, the Bushwick Living legend!!!
June 27th, 2010 at 12:30 pm
“Does it know his case won’t survive a day in a court room?”
Nope
“Does he know that if he wins, he will set up a bunch of precedents?”
Nope
Two EXTREMELY valid points.
June 27th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
EXACTLY fam…thats a question i had on my mind since BMF dropped…y aint he reppin his manz Kenneth Boobie instead! (when they snatched Black i cried for a hunnid nights…)
but then when you make a this trk you big up a G who aint even from ur city that you had no true affiliation with??? lol…only Ross is getting away with this much fuckery fam…n you know why…its bottom line, cuz the nigga is an ill beat selector…he sells the fuck outta his image…and finally, you must admit he stepped his song making game up!
June 27th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Valid points…
June 27th, 2010 at 1:13 pm
???? The tracklisting on Teflon Don looks Sicc!!! He got Hova, T.I., Kiss, Erykah Badu, Trey Songz, Styles P., and Drake just to name a few?? Plus, production by JUSTICE League, No ID, and the Olympicks? The fact that Ross is hot on the streets(and he’s been for awhile), why not add some of the dopest artists in the game to that formula? Drake is Huge right now(whether fans wanna admit it or not) and he has a feature on almost every track! Even look at Eminem, he got a gang of features and both artists sold damn near over 500,000 first week!! 50 desperately needs some features or some CPR because dude got no buzz right now other than his drastic weight loss, LMAO! 50 is still performing records from his first album, hahahah. Ever since GRODT and the Massacre, 50’s music really don’t knock like that anymore! Speaking as a fan, 50 needs features(help) right now, he needs to dial up Em, Dre, Jay-Z, the Game or somebody to revive his career, ahhaha
June 27th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Eminem is already an established rapper soo Recovery wouldve aleady held its own even if it had less features but my thing is can you really consider ROSS n ESTABLISHED n HOT artist if his last 4 albums are basically complication albums??? He good on the mic, n I’m not taking that away, but he’s not hot if he’s using features to keep him afloat.
…like 50 said, “niggas should just make a We Are The World record” lol
June 27th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
LOL shut up gun play
WE DON’T BELIEVE YOU YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE!!!
June 27th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
what’s good with rap now as long as it’s good music it get a pass damn ross is faker then a 3 dollar bill but he make good music bs rappers need to stop and fans too cause when these same hustlers the rappers rap about ask for that money for rappin about them they ppl talk shit like it wrong but it’s not the real rick ross put his life and freedom on the line and to see a rapper using his name is bs rappers need to stop name droping cause dudes in the street know the real like they say real reconize real how many times has rakim mentioned the real 50 cent ,and he mentioned killer ben once the streets knew he rolled with them shit even puff was rollin with some real dudes and he never talk about them ross needs to stop tryin to be a gangsta
June 27th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Its sad that I can’t help but wonder whats going on with the state of Hip Hop. I mean (I hate to admite it) Ross makes good music, he gets a pass for being fake and with Diddy saying the crazy things he says(guess when you sing him under your managerment company you have to say things to keep him making you $) its hard to trust his word now. HEY INFO I AM NOT SURE YOU CAN SAY BUT DOES PEOPLE GET A LAUGH WHEN ROSS NAME COMES UP?
June 27th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Ross music dope…but he needs to stop all that extra tough shit on his interviews! the reason he’s gotten a pass is by fuckin with diddy….in exchange for him writing Last Train to Paris!
June 27th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
me personally,i dont think this is a diss 2 rick ross…wut i get from tha song is that its 2 explain that he still fuck wit big meech, cuz 1nce they got popped, jeezy stopped screamin BMF so he wouldnt get caught up,he started focusing on CTE…when tha last time u heard jeezy scream BMF??? not since his mixtape days and i guess tha streets been talkin so he had 2 address it…
me personally,i like ross song better, better beat 2 me…and ross jus zoning right now…everybody see tha songs got tha same name and now they think its a diss…i dont think so…if u listen 2 ross BMF,its more of a tribute 2 those guys anyway…
June 27th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDbOECFAY1s
i think this might b who meech talkin about…i say that cuz on tha song, meech is comin from tha angle that people are sayin him and jeezy arent in touch with each other…i really think tha song doesnt have shyt 2 do wit rick ross, but people who are sayin tha jeezy not down wit meech no more…
June 27th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
So you believe banks is a authentic type nigga?? please.. that nigga is softer than scott tissue.. Its entertainment.. its the lyrical form of the wwe.. all about the dollar..
June 27th, 2010 at 4:54 pm
ross puts out dope music

it’s always a must
that’s dope to see good features
he got a lot of guests but really on point !
June 27th, 2010 at 4:56 pm

June 27th, 2010 at 5:46 pm
first time i’ve ever heard of this BMF record.
is subpar IMO.
June 27th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
RE: Real-life druglord Freeway Ricky Ross is currently suing Rawse for claiming his name: toldja.
June 27th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
Ok these dudes saying Meech name on a rap song is “Blah”, but, putting Larry Hoover in your Chorus is just Disrespectful to any person with Affiliation to Gangsterism
June 27th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Why does this surprise anyone? The man is a proven fraudulent individual who’s speaking the name of a drug kingpin and the Chief himself. A song coming from Jeezy with Meech on it is the least of his worries. He need to worry about what may happen to him when he steps foot back in the Chi cause these cats up here talking bout coming for his head. We talking bout Hoover here! Niggas aint gonna let that fly.
But he does make good music though..
June 27th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
The Real Rick Ross trademarked his name after “rick ross” signed to def jam. so technically “rick ross” is liable for copyright infringement dating back to Port of Miami. I guess its a good thing none of “rick ross”‘s albums did as well as he claimed.
June 27th, 2010 at 9:51 pm
@Peety Green lmao are you for real man? That is probably the most far-fetched, implausable and unlikely idea of all time…damn it made me laugh tho
“and if he can talk her into allowing Chris Brown come out on stage while shes doing the hook before the first verse and lip sing it to her and finish with a kiss or a hug that would be DUMB!!”
^^^ Funniest and most delusional post EVER.
Wouldn’t it be so sick if Eminem, Jay-Z, 50 Cent & Diddy all came out together holding hands and two giant golden doors opened behind them to show Dr. Dre and DJ Premier side by side on the decks and then Mariah Carey, Beanie Sigel, NaS, The Game & Shyne walked on from side stage singing the hook together and then they all joined together and delivered a performance so powerful that they all fused together in a blinding ball of light which hovered just above the stage before shooting off into space followed by a 90 minute shower of 100 dollar bills falling from the sky. That would be DUMB!!!”
June 27th, 2010 at 11:02 pm
“I think I’m Big Meech”
“I’d like to be like Mike”
Where were y’all when those kids were singing about Jordan in the Gatorade commercial? Were y’all apt to call the kids frauds because they weren’t 6’6″ basketball icons? Cut it out…
The biggest issue that y’all have with Ross is that he’s putting out the hottest music right now. From Super High to Blowin Money Fast to MC Hammer…Ross is popping right now and your favorite rapper is somewhere keeping it real in obscurity.
June 27th, 2010 at 11:43 pm
miss info is that with or without payola ? true story you know how the game works
June 28th, 2010 at 2:10 am
Lets all get on some real real shit! Conspiracy! Sum shit you can get locked up for and what niggas who are already in jail can get more time for! The people names he is screamin are in jail maybe trying to work on appeals (trying to get lesser time) or getting moved to jails closer to there families, or getting to a low maximun security jails or make him more hot in jail(in a bad way) to officer rickys co workers etc. This does not help them cus we know how the DA in every state get down (and warden). This shit can be admissable in court . And the rapper “rick ross” will start having them alphabets boys investigating his ass, bringing heat to himself for no reason.
And Good Music, please…dont let the beat fool you. His word play let us all know we ALL can be rappers. Its elementary at best.
And to those who say all rappers embellish there street cred…not like this guy. He was a CO! The job prerequisites are no jail record and a ten year background check. Now this fool is the biggest drugking pin and made the switch to rap. Cmon Ppl! Dont piss of my leg and tell me its raining. A I give drake respect over him…at least he saying hey Im a kid from the surburbs and love rap and heres what I did with it and heres for the people who are like me and love rap too….you know the fuking TRUTH!
June 28th, 2010 at 6:21 am
I agree i mean come on he was a C.O like controlling prisoners and stipulating what they can/can’t do .
I don’t care if he makes good music i will not be wasting my time listening to a former C.O. It is just so crazy his image is based on man who served over a decade for actually carrying out the lifestyle he raps about. I hope the real Ricky Ross does sue him he actually did live that lifestyle and suffered the consequences and a former C.O just feels he can create a rap persona and rap about it?
June 28th, 2010 at 8:04 am
Rap fans are some kind of different, man. It’s akin to a country music fan saying, “I can’t listen to Garth Brooks because he never rode a horse and never had a pickup truck.”
June 28th, 2010 at 2:01 pm
Raps always been different and always will be from other genre of music. Ever since the 90s it been about creditability. You bein a rap head should know that…thats how we polictic on it. so your “Country comparison” take that shit to popeater.com
June 28th, 2010 at 2:38 pm
Why do we continue to glorify people who help destroy our communities?
June 28th, 2010 at 3:15 pm
@ unconform_normality
I understand that rap has always been about “creditability.” When it started, every song was about how so-and-so’s DJ was better than yours. Now it’s about validating who sold how much dope and who did what in the streets. I think that’s ridiculous from an entertainment perspective, as the goal should be to enjoy the music instead of playing The Smoking Gun on every rapper to find out how “real” they really are. That’s just how I “polictic” on it.
But to your other point, take your spelling issues to Firefox. That red dotted line means something ain’t right…

Exactly thats how you politic on it. Every hood politic it different…and most hood street cats you know real hand to hand, thrid strike cats like sum1 they can ID with and “enjoy the music” when they are in there element. But dont come at me like a custy…with a story (lying) to get credit. Personally I agree with dude talking underneath us…but I can shoot the shit when need be.
So much respect bredthren.
And when blogging becomes a contest where I can potentially win a pulitizer award for my strong grasp in the Language of Arts I will speak and write like I got a college degree. Smile….know the difference between criticism and a insult.

Hello Miss Info I think Rick Ross should keep it real. If he was a correctional officer admit it. His music is very good. I like the beats.
I think music artists should be honest. If one doesn’t push drugs don’t say you did. Rap honestly. I would prefer the truth but if someone says yeah yeah I pushed drogas back in the day and they didn’t I’ll still like the song. Maybe they rap about being an athlete and they weren’t I’ll still like the cut if it is good and a very good beat. Take care Miss info.
