Lupe Fiasco found himself in hot water again this weekend for his outspoken political views. Performing in celebration of Obama’s second inauguration at Hamilton Live in Washington D.C. last night (Jan. 20), the Chicago rapper was removed from the stage after playing the first verse from “Words I Never Said,” the anti-war song taken from his 2011 LP, Lasers, for a whole 30 minutes, and declaring that he did not vote for Obama in November’s election. After refusing to perform a different song, Lupe was escorted off stage by security.
Now This News captured footage of Lupe getting kicked off stage, while Foreign Policy journalist Josh Rogin live tweeted the story as it happened. However, the event organizers released a statement claiming Lupe was removed for “other” reasons. Read it here.
Check out the footage and tweets after the jump…
Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set.

So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn’t vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the next song.

Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.

Why would somebody invite him to a celebration for Obama when he’s been critical of him for years?

Lupe spoke the truth.

You never get your point across when you make a fool of yourself.

I agree, if I was the security I would of put my hands on him, snuffed him and all.

Lupe can choke on a dick.. I will never support anything he does.. There is a time and a place for everything and that was not it..
He cant blame Obama for everything and only an idiot would dedicate his life to debating a fucking chair and anyone who sits in it…That niggas a coon!

He wanted that to happen. If nobody disagrees nor dislikes what your saying then nothing happens n nobody cares to do anything about it and your attempt at martyrdom becomes futile.
But at the end of the day you have forums for this discussion so why bring it to everybodies celebration.

Fuck all you haters!

He is a coon for engaging in a form of protest? When is the time and place to protest? When nobody sees or hears you and it doesn’t affect the people you are protesting in any shape, form, or fashion?
And bigger than that you need to point to where he blamed him for everything.

Lupe did that so he would get kicked off stage. So, later he could say “The man is trying to shut me down”. He was on the Bill O’Reilly show and Bill shut him down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ojNvC5DuWg
He was kicked off stage for being an ass. Not for his views.

At an Inaugural Concert celebrating the presidents reelection where you were invited and im sure paid to perform is where you decide to voice your views for a half hour, you think that is the right time for this shit??
Especially when nobody in the room cares to hear about the personal views of the likes of
Glen Beck and Bill O’rielly.
An if your not spearheading the antidote for wut your against then your just talking in hopes that someone else will do it for you.

What better place to do it than there. The fact that they invited him was a disrespect to him, they obviously dont listen to his music and you probably dont listen to his music. They got what they paid for honestly. MLK protested and not the kind of protest you see today, or did we forget that?
January 21st, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Exactly. Doing one verse for 30 minutes? It doesn’t matter if it’s Beethoven or Ray Charles, you can’t do the same verse over and over for 30 minutes and not expect to be asked to move on. We get it, you don’t like him. You did the song, you did the verse, you dropped the beat so you can say the lines clearly, now on to the next.
I love Lupe but this was all publicity and no substance. Lame move man.

If he felt it was dis-respectful for being invited to the concert, he just should not have showed his face.

thank you for showing us your a ass.

Other than the phrase “obama’s a terrorist” Lupe Fiasco hasnt said ANYTHING that hasnt been said before.
Many an Mcee has voiced consciousness he aint the first. His records dont really cross me as interesting any more.
He’s trying to preach from a “styled celebrity” point of view an its coming off as random rants.

career suicide

Ofcourse he hasnt said anything that hasnt been said before or maybe he had, hip hop is about what u say and how u say it and Lupe is known for being lyrically crazy, thats his claim to fame…..so he is a styled celebrity, lol fam, what do u want him to do? He is actually using his voice for something and he feeds people in chicago….but i guess u rather him use his voice to tell u how he getting it and what he got while he in the strip club with ur girl. Respect.

The media is completely blowing this out of proportion. The crowd wasn’t even that upset. They are making it seem like he got up there and went Katt Williams on the stage!

As someone on Facebook pointed out, It’s very likely Lupe didn’t perform for free.
Thus, he was paid to do a job. How is this an intelligent form of protest when he all he did was take resources (money) meant to honor a man he openly doesn’t support and then use that stage to denigrate said man.
That’s called being unprofessional, not revolutionary.
Go get your own stage and criticize the President if you want to.
But don’t expect someone you disdain to pay you for openly criticizing them.
That’s just delusional.
