Last night’s episode “What They Died For” was interesting, and a bit less confusing than the baby jacob vs baby MIB episode from last week…..but do you feel like this Sunday’s 2 hour finale can really wrap this up? I have my doubts. Thanks to the trusty livestream chat-participants, I think we were able to get a grasp on: Desmond is like a Jacob proxy, connecting the dots for people in the alternate timeline. The theme is “letting go.” Perhaps Juliet is the mom of Jack’s alternate son? But was Ana Lucia just a conveniently greedy cop? Or did she have awareness of this cross-time cross-reality, like Desmond and Hurley? There seemed to be some lines in that “van-break” scene that were key. Something about certain people not being ready yet, etc….I have to re-watch. Back on the island, Smokey won’t kill Ben because he wants Ben to help him find Desmond. Ben kills Charles out of revenge for his daughter, but that leaves alot of holes about Charles Widmore’s overall role and his vague answer about how he managed to get back to the island, and figure out Desmond’s purpose, and his whole shebang from being a young soldier on the island etc. UGH! Mainly, I’d like to see Miles and Ben in a spinoff buddy sitcom.
Miles: “I lived in these houses 30 years before you did… otherwise known as last week.

UPDATE: EW’s Doc Jensen posted his latest recap, link and quote after the jump….

Since the series is coming to an end, the cast and creators are doing tons of press, and ABC is throwing a bunch of new TV shows at the wall this fall to see what’ll stick….details after the jump….

EW’s Doc Jensen on last night’s episode: “No, the castaways didn’t fall from the sky and land on The Island by accident like Jack once believed; they were brought here by a powerful force like metal filings to a magnet. But this ”powerful force” wasn’t fate or destiny (read: God/the divine) like Locke once believed. It isn’t even a ”force.” ”It” is a ”he” — a very human, flawed ”he,” a frozen-in-time, super-powered, self-righteous, solipsistic, artsy-fartsy wino hippie man-child burdened with heavy mother issues, weighty responsibility and even more crushing guilt, who conspired to corral a bunch of people and subtly (and not so subtly) manipulate them into repairing his monster-making mistakes and clearing his conscience….

Star Wars creator George Lucas sent the LOST team a letter:Congratulations on pulling off an amazing show…In six seasons, you’ve managed to span both time and space, and I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I never saw what was around the corner. Now that it’s all coming to an end, it’s impressive to see how much was planned out in advance and how neatly you’ve wrapped up everything….Don’t tell anyone, but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories — let’s call them ‘homages’ — and you’ve got a series.” (via LATimes) Doh!

Jimmy Kimmel on LOST: “Watching Lost is what I imagine it’s like being trapped inside the brain of Paula Abdul.” (via E!’s coverage of the ABC upfronts)

I love Kristin Dos Santo’s sheer LOSTie dedication, and this short clip spans the past 6 years of “stalking” LOST stars. Also, wow @ Yunjin Kim’s fashion shoot Gaga-hair ; )

Will there be a LOST Movie?: Carlton Cuse says, “We don’t have any intentions of doing that. This is the story we wanted to tell and it ends next Sunday night, and we were incredibly grateful that we got a chance to do it.” (via E!)

What will we watch next season?: “LOST”’s network ABC, is the only major network to actually lose viewers, and they’re reportedly especially hurting in the prime 18-49 demographic. ABC already cancelled “Flash Forward,” which I’m kind of upset about because I’ve already invested time/effort into the storyline, and I like the sci-fi aspect to it. This fall they’re bringing in…1) “No Ordinary Family,” a drama about a family with superpowers. 2) “Detroit 1-8-7,” where a mock documentary crew follows homicide detectives. 3)“Better Together” a family comedy to go with the hit “Modern Family.”4) “The Whole Truth” a legal drama**.  5) “My Generation,” where a fictional documentary crew revisits high school students interviewed 10 years earlier. 6) “Body of Proof,” Dana Delany plays a neurosurgeon. 7) “Off the Map” comes midseason, and its a drama about doctors working in the tropics. From the “Grey’s Anatomy” folks so I’m sure I’ll watch and weep. (via BusinessWeek)

[** I'm already in love with "The Good Wife" on the old peoples network, so I don't need another legal drama. Oh, and I'm also in love with "Justified" on the outsiders network, so I'm all stocked up on law enforcement too.]

Wonder how to handle the finale viewing….another Livestream but perhaps with guests? Or just a Cover-it-Live chat? hmm….
